Two students were being racial profiled by the other students and get physically and verbally attacked. Harper is outraged. A good example of Chi Mcbride's great acting ability.
The cast turnover during the first 3 seasons didn't help matters. If they could have kept a stable core cast, with a few additions here and there, the show probably could have lasted 7-10 seasons.
when i watch scenes like this, i don't think of it as "acting". Chi McBride is really *there*. he's present. i can see that he's feeling something deep and personal. that's what great actors do.
Now, he's not actually 'there.' It's make believe; none of this is real. The REAL problem is that verismo 'acting' represents itself as real, when it's not. Representational acting was considerably more psychologically, emotionally and spiritually healthy for its audiences because it did not promote delusion; it only promoted imagination. Modern acting is a form of mental illness, presented to victims 'groomed' to become mentally ill. Read a book.
@@BeckettSong Perhaps you are simply missing the point. In anything other than in the figurative sense, no character, no story, not play is 'alive.' Anyone who thinks that such thinks are actual, rather than imaginary, is delusional. They may be 'vivid,' 'rich,' 'riveting,' 'captivating,' or 'moving,' but they are not 'alive.' And Chi McBride is that 'there.' He's in a studio, acting, doing make believe. The modern approach to acting is cultic and pathological. One need only examine its practitioners.
Wish this show was available to stream! I watched this before I became a teacher and now I have been for some years now and this show addresses the stress of teaching so well!
This was some great acting, but my favorite clip / performance from CHi on this show is when he gave the closing statement for the prosecution in court in regards to Kevin Riley's firing.
To be a "terrorist" you do not need guns or WMDs. All you need is the right kind of negative attitude. That's the point that Mr. Steven Harper was trying to get across to his students.
If, forwhatever, i presume stupid, reason they won't release this series on dvd/blue ray, you have to pirate it, if you want to see it. I'd rather pay for the collection.
@@HerrHoppenstedt Oh, shut up! I hope you get thrown off that moral high horse you're riding. Since it's not on dvd the only way *to* watch it is by pirating it. The actors aren't getting paid any royalties since no channels are airing reruns.
CHI McBRIDE ! Chi-Town Baby ! THAT SCENE WAS SOOO DARN POWERFUL……. Wish they’d bring it back ! And I’m not talking some doggone revamp ! THIS EXACT SHOW ! In syndication !
1:39 or 1:40, "White"? But for the other Race groups, they got their cultural, continental, country or religious groups. I think "White" should be European-American. If he was going to say, "White". Then it should be followed with Black, Brown, Yellow, Tan, Mellow Brown, Pale...whatever
Not officially. I found dad's online years and years ago that I thought was legit. Turns out that they were bad tv ripps. The only way to watch the show is pirating it which sucks.
Agreed. Another was Homicide: Life on the Street. Andre Braugher was amazing in that series. And it's where Detective John Munch got his start before Law and Order!
One of the most underrated shows ever!
nielsaos I couldn't agree with you more. I LOVE that show.
nielsaos It fell off over time, and by season 4 it's a shell of its former self, but season 1 is one of the greatest seasons of television ever.
Fox killed it. They love to do that.
They killed this show when they moved it to Friday nights. It was one of the best shows on TV at the time.
Also the writing got kinda weak in the last season.
The cast turnover during the first 3 seasons didn't help matters. If they could have kept a stable core cast, with a few additions here and there, the show probably could have lasted 7-10 seasons.
The claw lady killed this show
@@pomerlain8924the show was boring
This show was way ahead of its time.
Those opening lines that Principal Harper spoke are fitting for today's world as much as it was then. Powerful show, powerful actors.
Chi McBride is so underrated!
Chi was great in this role.
This is the speech for today/9/2020
Wow! I know this show needs to rerun. I started watching it when it first came out. So very underrated. It rings so true today.
I MISS THIS SHOW!
Same here. Boston Public was a great TV series.
ThePulse10 I wish it was available for streaming or something! Can’t find it anywhere!
@@loonylovesgood Boston Public is on Kodi. I recently watched a few episodes.
ThePulse10 Good to know, thanks!!
@@loonylovesgood You're welcome.
I agree the show wasn't the same towards the end, but even at its worst, it was still better than most shows.

Im mad they cancelled this show! All the actors in it are too old to reprise their original roles now
I was literally just saying that. Miss the hell out of this show cause I'm from Boston

@Anshuman Kher wait who justified it??

When Sabine had that bottle thrown at her, I liked that Harvey of all people defended her. He was a bigot, but even he knew where to draw the line.
Please start airing this anywhere 😅
This show came out my freshman year of high school. Was my high school experience in a nutshell.
One World. One Humanity. ONE FAMILY.

This speech wasn't racy or sexy at all. It was all about racism.
The kids in the Chess Club are like, What, I didn't do anything.
Anyone have any Goober quotes? Anthony Heald quotes? This show jumped the shark at the end but was great for a long time.

I thought something similar. He should have just said nationality, religions, skin colour or physical features...
In the heat of the moments maybe not. Which makes this real
Where did you get this is such decent quality? Only version I can find gets incredibly pixelated when viewed in this size

David E. Kelley had shows called "Chicago Hope" (medical) and "Boston Public" (school system) among many others. You just mixed up the names.
