      As an ex-military guy I'll say this - you've probably never had to leverage your survival on that $20 knife. Take it to the field for a week and you might find its weakness. But if you don't - then you WIN bc you get to keep the change. Ha ha. :) #rockon

    A lot of people seem to overlook eye protection. I've had times when I've been driving along with the window open and nearly copped a stone in my eye, from the wheels of another vehicle. I started thinking of better sunnies, than regular ones and had a look at what they wear in the military. I ended up getting a pair of ESS Crossbow sunglasses. They have ballistic resistant lenses that can take the pellets of a shotgun from ten feet away. They also wrap around with very little space for any bits of grit to get in between the lenses and my eyes.

    An iPhone? Take a look at the CAT S60. Most rugged phone available currently; and waterproof down to 5 meters. I have it and it's all I could ask for.

      Im a huge fan of the brigadier. Nice phone, tough as nails. mine has been through pure hell, still works great. And heavy enough to use as a blunt weapon.

      iTheGeek It has a Qualcomm octo-core MSM8952 chip, and it does all work-related stuff without stuttering. It's faster than my previous LG G3. Why do you need speed? I'm not going to play games on this thing; media and otherwise, play just fine.
      The CAT S60 is an outdoor enthusiast's dream.

    Good review. I also carry the LCP custom in the hottest months here in Florida when I can't conceal a larger handgun. When I can carry a little bigger I go with my M&P Shield IWB carry.

    Ben, just purchased a new set of lenses for my Arnette's from Fuse lenses there on Amazon. I went with the Carl zeiss fuse+ lenses because they had more features like improved clarity. The removal of old lenses and installation of new were simple and cost was 44$ with shipping. The lenses start at 25$ for the entry level ones with less features. I am definitely happy with them and at a third of the cost of new glasses. Just fyi.

    Again a good no nonsense review of the gear, my personal preference for watch is analog, my old army G10 watch, my phone is i phone 4s with griffin survivor case, it's more stable and even now upgrades to latest IOS, as for weapon I use Sig SAUER 226 but with no holster, I prefer to feel it against my body, only exception is the three extra mags I carry in my trousers, the knife I carry on a lanyard is the Swiss Army Pocket Knife as issued to Swiss armed services, as I live in Europe I practices minimal technology in my EDC but I have to say yet again you have showed your choices are expensive but they are the very best for your EDC, good to see someone who is not blowing someone else's whistle, but there own and it works big time.

      Maybe down the line. It doesn't seem all that different than the others from Nitecore like the Tube and I'm not sure I like the form factor for a brighter light as opposed to the EagleTac 025C i carry in my pocket. Keychain light doesn't really need that many lumens IMO.

    Nice setup Ben . One of my spydercos I have would go great with your edc. It's the chaparral 4 , carbon fiber version (nice lil knife). Also one thing to consider is you can replace your Garmin watch with the Samsung gear s3 ! It can do all the things you mentioned on the Garmin except you can talk and text without even having it tethered to your phone which means if you don't want to lug around the big ass phone, you don't have to, and... boom , you're out ! That's what I'm scooping up this month :)
    Stay safe my man !

    • @livingsurvival

      how long does the battery last though in that samsung?

    • @lrodd247
      @lrodd247 8 років тому

      They're say 4 days buy that's probably with moderate use. The battery is bigger on this one than their previous gear s2 which is nice. You can choose between the classic or frontier. The classic is classy of coarse and the Frontier is more outdoorsy and rugged, that's the one I'm gonna handle! Check out UA-cam vids on them. I think they start selling them this Friday, presales were 2 weeks ago if you were lucky enough. I think the battery is rated at 380 mah if I'm not mistaken. Let me know what u think, peace!

      +Kokus Nuss That is contrary to all crime statistics. Crime goes down as more law abiding citizens own and carry guns. More criminals with guns is of course a bad thing but those guys will always have guns. The presence of guns does not inherently make a community more dangerous, yet does have the opposite effect.

    • @TheHipNip
      @TheHipNip 7 років тому +3

      Thomas Elbo Jensen Fair enough, but carrying guns is not just about self defense. You're also making a statement by doing so. It's almost akin to holding up signs fighting for rights. Why did you comment in the first place? Because you wanted to make a statement and because you can. If you didn't comment what's the point of even having a comment section? Same with guns.

    Where is your armor if you carry a weapon ? Maybe put on as button compass on the watchband. Think they sell a Carbon Fiber Case for the smart phones and put a twenty dollar bill ($20.00 USD) hidden in the case. (Or phone numbers if the battery goes dead.) Some armor fits in a Go Bag/Get Home Bag/Computer Bag... Thank you for the video ! tjl

    I was having a sensitive eye issue, did some research and found the sunglasses (high end Maui Jim) were bad for my eyes. I Stopped wearing them, problem solved. Now only use them when driving into the sun.

    if you really want a minimalist "wallet" go with a hair band that is folded over once and slide your cards/cash into it. As a minimalist it's annoying hearing people say that whatever slim or sleek product is minimal when most times they arent
