    Hi,
    I love this video!
I've recently discovered I'm autistic. I've watched a lot of interviews with neurodivergent people, but lots of it I thought was normal and I thought everyone was doing. The big recognition for me lately hasn't been that I'm different to what I thought, it's that everyone else isn't always doing the same thing as me in their minds. I keep wanting to check with a neurotypical person if they do something, or if this is normal.

Thank you so much for your kind comment and congratulations on recently discovering that you are autistic! That's a great point-- for awhile I had also assumed that most people shared my communication differences, but were just much better at masking/suppressing them! It was really interesting to realize that certain things weren't universal experiences.

Great vid, found these questions well thought-out and interesting, especially the one about accommodations 🤔
    At our fully hypothetical ASD office, some great accommodations for the NT minority include;
    - A small, separate cafeteria without a library, where it's allowed to talk while eating (great for sharing some discussion about your children, dog, weather and other light topics)
    - All neurotypicals are encouraged to exchange work phone numbers with their customers - our way of saying "it's ok to call us too!"
    - Every two months and especially around New Years we have after-work get-togethers to reduce the stigma around "spending time with people you only know from work"
    -

Thank you so much for your comment-- I'm glad you liked the video! This is a fantastic (and creative!) list of accommodations for the hypothetical autistic office. I especially like the idea of having a designated "small talk encouraged" cafeteria or zone (it almost seems like the neurotypical equivalent of sensory-friendly or low-demand zones, at least for extroverted neurotypical individuals.)

@@allneurotypesoffice7037 Hehe, thanks and apologies for some poor grammar, not a native writer (just a casual office enjoyer).
P.S. Obviously no dx needed for accessing those accommodations, either 😁

I often refer to "neurotypical fragility" and i wonder if the "need for acceptance" she talks about around minute 13 is actually just neurotypical fragility? Because I think ALL people have a need for acceptance, but due to our differences, we often become used to living without this need fulfilled, and therefore also get used to not caring as much what people think. Like a learned helplessness; whatever I do, I won't be accepted, so I will become used to doing whatever I think is best regardless of what others think.
I don't know, just a thought. She also mentions she deals with anxiety, and needing acceptance can often be an anxiety, so perhaps this is more what she feels?

Yes!! No slight on Stephanie but I was watching and couldn’t tell if she had directly answered the actual questions yet. There was a lot of skirting around, filler, going on a tangent that my mind zoned out. I am none the wiser. I’d literally forgotten what the actual questions were long before she had finished answering them. I need concise answers. Maybe this highlights that I am not neurotypical? I don’t have any official diagnosis but I always relate to neurodivergent traits.

I agree. A lot of filler words they use. I do appreciate that she came on and thought the questions were insightful. But…I had to stop watching. I lost count of the “I feel like’s.”

This is a great idea but you need to interview someone who gives shorter responses - i lost interest 😕 (though appreciate how hard it is to respond to 'what's it like to be you'?)

    • @allneurotypesoffice7037

Thanks for your comment! Personally, I really like the longer answers because it allows for more details (and I find Stephanie to be really insightful), but I definitely can see where others might prefer shorter video formats with different question types. As you stated so well, questions along the lines of "what is it like to be you" are so broad in scope!
Tangentially related, but we've been thinking for awhile of possibly making shorts from some of our longer interviews/videos so that there's two formats of the same content.

@edm3784 Actually I'm with you Sam. Although the interview was quite long admittedly, it is very rare to find someone that is willing or able to think outside the box, be aware of themselves and have the imagination to be able to provide in depth answers. I thought the lady was lovely. Maybe because she works as an OT, she seems to be way more aware of neurodivergent issues. I pray there will be many more like her in due course so that all neurotypes can work, live and cooperate in a fulfilling life together. Much love. May God bless us all.🙏

I could be wrong, folks today tip-toe around not wanting to offend others, thus, a long answer to cover all without offending any. Hope that helps.
