- This is something a lot different! Trains NOT on the Tehachapi! I figured it was time for something a little different, so I spent the day between Bakersfield and Corcoran on BNSF's Bakersfield sub. I wasn't sure how the traffic would be, but as it turned out, I had no reason to worry. I saw more trains than I had time to shoot! So, join me up the valley for BNSF and Amtrak action!

Hello. Time to catch up with you again, soon. Thank you for your adventures.
I live out here in Wasco and a half mile from the tracks. Speed limit is 70mph for freight, 80 for Amtrak. Lots of BNSF traffic on a good day, but it sucks that you can no longer hear them blast their horn through town anymore since they removed the 2 grade crossings as part of that HSR project.
Great video presentation Mark, I enjoyed as always! Have yourself a great day! (Dave).
Thanks for the ride Mark and have a safe day. Paul
Yep, trains are trains & I like the way you show them off😊
Actually very nice mainline action. Thanks for posting!
My dad and uncles spent their entire careers with Santa Fe between Bakersfield and Barstow.
Thanks for keeping them safe on the rails.
Hi Mark & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool &Thanks Mark Friends Randy
A rail fanner goes by Jawtooth (old C.B. handle) got hisself a radar gun little tiny one , don't point it at the lead loco, mite cause some consternation, but anywhere on the leading edge of rail cars works well, but you're rite 50 mph or even 45 because those huge vehicles look like they're moving faster than they are.
As always, thank you, Mark. Lots of trains makes my day!
The Barstow bridge is not opening today at10am, it has been delayed till Friday at 10 am on the 12 th July 2024 first ave inbarstow you are looking at you messages, thanks BigAl California.
I live along these tracks in Merced County in Winton!!
Look up Barstow first ave bridge project,85 million dollar bridge, thanks BigAl California.
Nice catch Mark! Thx..
Short shave and a haircut
Nice video Mark.
Great video, I hope you can get some action in Alpauph, my dad grew up there and we spent many a time there when I was younger. Keep up the good work 👏
Hopefully it cools down so I can get back up there!
Someone told me the bnsf with yellow letters aren't a H1 maybe it's a H2 I don't know
I wager 5 Quatloos that this is an excellent video.
But not shot on Triskelion!
@@MarkClayMcGowan I love that you're a Trekkie and also a railfan. I knew you'd get the reference. Really interesting video.
That's not the capital corridor I don't know which amtrak that is
They like to tie down trains alot bnsf up in NorCal
Wouldn't it be awesome if American trains could do the same speeds as European trains... or the North East corridor trains.... or the upcoming California high speed.
Seeing one of those long freight trains doing around 200 Kilometers per hour would be amazing...! )I know they can't... but it would be great if they could).
100 MPH freights! That's a scary thought!
It is interesting that the twisting, tunneled, horse-shoed rails of Tehachapi connect directly with the flat, speedy, straight tracks of the Central Valley. 🛤️
And the Mojave desert on the other side. I hope to get some stuff shot out there soon as well. Thanks for checking it out!
