Cedic & Ada Gear and Outdoors - Thank you for taking the time to take a look at the SiWi. It was fun to see all the test you put it through. Very well-done, detailed review! Thanks again.
@@mohdzaudikhasni8829But does this hold true for Boker Kommander too? I guess I'll find out. It's the SK 5 but a great design by a European designer who's name isn't the biggest, but design quality is high
Very stout knife. I took a sanding block to the handle on mine, to knock-down the hot spots. I added a two-finger lanyard to add stability to my grip with XL hands. A poorman's Bradford Guardian 3... A slashing "Fighter" in a pinch as well. Keep 'em Sharp !
You channel is one of my top blade channels I watch. I reference it all the time to my friends and others. I and Im sure others really appreciate you sir
Say what you will about CRKTs folding knife line, but their fixed blades are suprisingly impressive. I think their signature recipe of custom knife design and value-conscious manufacture really works for a fixed blade. And they seem to get the importance of a good sheath - given a zero-sum choice to keep the price down I'd take a cheap (but sensible) blade steel over a cheap throwaway sheath every time.
I own both the siwi and the izula. The izula is much lighter and bit smaller. when I want something beefier I carry the CRKT and when I want to go lighter weight and more minimalist I carry the ESEE.
CRKT always seems to make a durable knife if nothing else. And, they have killer customer service. Dealt with them once on a small issue and they fixed that and sent an additional free knife as a sorry. Great people and blades. I think my fav still is the M16-02SS and 04SS. You get bangers that will last a lifetime for $55 each. I spray them down in Tuf-Glide and I’m set.. they can do anything appropriate for the sizes.
Not sure if I didn't realize or just simply forgot, but as a part of CRKTs Forged by War series, some of the price is going towards a good cause, and to me that really makes this knife much more reasonably priced than it would be otherwise. I think CRKT's pricing is pretty bad a lot of the time, as they seem to skimp in all the wrong places, but not here. SK5 is good stuff, and one of, if not my very favorite budget carbon blade steels. It is basically a Japanese made 1080 series carbon steel, so as long as its not run too hard, it's tough as hell, and very easy to sharpen, even in the field with no equipment. I do however take some issue with makers that are using it under the names SK85 or CK55 with a considerably higher price tag. It comes off like they are trying to avoid the reputation of this of this steel which is old, simple, and inexpensive. Some of you might know the brands I'm referring to. Transparency is paramount in customer loyalty, at least in my case. Sorry for the rant.
I wish knife companies would start making sheaths (for fixed blades)that are deep pocket carry. Something like the Gary Creely cru-wear Mako. Anyway, another great review!
Similar size and dimensions as the Schrade SCHF-55. It's in 1095... basically a sharpened little pry bar designed by Brian Griffin. But I like this knife also though. Fits a tactical niche. Just got a Kizer Little River Bowie. A fantastic midsize edc/outdoors knife with the best factory sheath I've run into.
Glad to watch you review this Siwi! I considered it, but went with Boker Kommander for SK 5. I hope the thermal cycles were great because the design is solid and the steel is tough. Nevertheless I could do a self made knife hardened at perhaps Peter's from 8670 and get my own design and geometry. Cheers foe entertaining so well and so often while being relevant!
I don't know if this has bern covered, haven't finished this video yet or read the comments, but the device that attaches the sheath to belt is a super premium and popular item here in America for kydex fans. Much better than Spyderco G clip and spring steel clips, especially with top shelf kydex makers who are full time at it, like Yellow Hawk Customs Outdoors YHCO. It's called a tek lock. Its offered for sale by itself online at DLT Trading and Blade HQ. The company that offers it just did a major improvement which was after the release of Siwi. So its a very accepted and msinstream relied on item which is nice to see CRKT offer the best with this model!
This one is a 10 outta 10 for me! I don't think I've gone a day without it since I bought it, and if I did I'm sure I did so with a chip on my shoulder.
love your channel, and your no bullsh!t approach to real world knife testing, would love to see more real world test, like clean a deer, cut up meat, how many fish can clean before a sharpening is needed, clean an entire moose w/o sharpening would be an impressive test, cutting up an entire tire into pieces , to toss out some ideas, keep up the great work keeping things real, btw you a bit of ok yourself
Great Work Pete!!! Can you rub the edge against the sheath as you would when putting it away as one of my Pet Hates is Glass Reinforced Nylon Dulling the Crap Out of the Edge as the Kabar BK2 used to do!!!
SK5 ya? Super scary sharp after strop, after put inside sheath, when you want to use edge rolls without reason. Every minutes need to sharpen, whatever you cut even vegetables. This knives totally use for throw at angry dog.
Yeah... Absolutely awesome design but they priced themselves off the market with their forged by war stuff... All those seem to be jacked up in price :/

Thanks for stopping by :)
Any sk5 knives after put inside sheath edge rolls without reason. Love the scary sharp after strop, but never buy any knives from sk5 steel anymore.

The warm fuzzy feeling of joyous nostalgia when the final fantasy tunes play in the background keeps me coming back.
This was in the TV show resident alien being called the best knife in the world and they called it the Gerber strongarm lol
Funny!!

Pete lives in Australia, so not too many moose to clean! 😉
I considered this knife for awhile, but eventually went with the CRKT Pangolin instead because I wanted corrosion resistance.
Glad to see this review been looking at it didn’t realize it was so thick
AWESOME review, Can't wait to get one. Thanks for the clear review.
Thank's for showing. Can't wait for the Tungsten/W knife.....
Fantastic review, thank you 👍

it can compete with some small Strider prybar-like knives I think...
That's a chunky little thing. Oh, you should have mail early next week.
The WE knife 607 comes with a verry simular belt clip and sheath.
Mate … what sort of sharpener was that you were using at 4;57 into the video please and is it any good ?
Something else I think is comparable to an esee Izula is the Enzo necker 70
curious if you tried using this knife using gloves to see if that helped or hurt ergos? Thanks for another great video Cedric
I'm still beating the hell out of a Cima-1 knife! Maybe someday I'll move up to a Esee Izula.🤔
Not crazy about the scallops on the handle but seems like a stout little sharpened prybar.

This has not been my experience I have both the siwi and rakkassan
I have one of these can not keep a good edge on it for anything that kills it for me love the design and stuff but guess I got a lemon
@@russellwyatt9693 i think crkt same as ontario knife very² bad heat treatment..
To tick to be useful, 3 to 3,5mm would be perfect. Wanted to get one, but have no use for 3 in 5mm knife.
First! Nice knife, but I can't really see anyone choosing it over an Izula.
Argonzification D. Esee have definitely got the market cornered on tough little knives
Definitely. And like you said, that warranty is hard to ignore.
I picked up this kinife of 55 bucks us....over an izula carried it almost every day since. don't have no love for ESSE.
Much better looking knife than the Izula, in my opinion. Hope to get a SIWI soon.
I paid like right at 50.
This knife is sweet looking, wish it wasn't so thick, that seems a bit unnecessary
Ace Horizon music?
SK5 is a decent budget steel , but as usual CRKT wants all the money.
I’m new to your channel, but where the hell is Ada?
I think Cedric and Ada are the dogs...?
Yes, Cedric and Ada are the dogs. Pete is the presenter. Unfortunately Cedric has passed away.
that poor 940:) I bet it cuts but I bet it wishes you'd take the KME to it and make it pretty again:)
heheh yeah its awaiting another mirror edge. still set to ‘coarse’ from the testing a while back
Mini BK2
Funny and enough truth to be comedic
Is that the Cold Steel sk5 steel, 1095 and well heat treated, I think, don't know for sure, just read it on UTube, so must be true!!!
Nice!
Crkt finally made a good little knife.
Yeah... Absolutely awesome design but they priced themselves off the market with their forged by war stuff... All those seem to be jacked up in price :/
EDC with Aaron I really like the karambit it’s a beast. Paid 84 def worth it
moar cats!
How in the mother of god do I remove the knife from the sheath???
Ok
$64 USD? Hahaha. No. $90.
Check time stamps
Lol
