Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this, Ms. Donna🙏🏾🙏🏾🥰. As a Caribbean Afro-American woman very new to polymer clay, it is so wonderful to see part of my culture represented in this medium. Attempting canes has not been easy thus far, but as I’ve been watching and studying all of the videos you’ve patiently presented on this channel, I am giving them another go. You are a brilliant, extremely thorough and delightful teacher. I recently picked up a copy of your incredibly inspiring surface techniques book. Amazing👏🏾✨👏🏾! Please keep the videos coming! Thank you again and all the very best!🙏🏾✨🙏🏾😍🥰🥰🤗🤗
This cane is fabulous. I love how carefully and fully you explain everything. I have to confess, I usually don't have the patience to listen to a longer tutorial, but I will sit all day and watch one of YOURS. And that is absolutely meant to be a great compliment.
I agree with everyone who says that are grateful for having a teacher like you. You always have the conscience to explain everything you do! You care about us to understand what, when, how and why you do what you do every step of the way. From now on I will put the Portugal flag in the end before the smile so that everyone will see that your beautiful, fantastic, perfect, mesmerizing tutorials are around the world!! Thank you for your kindness sharing your knowledge 🇵🇹 😊❤
These are so inspirational! I am beyond grateful to see your mudcloth tutorials. As an African-American, I find it very difficult to locate ethnic designs, molds, stamps and especially polymer clay tutorials. You always brighten my day with your work. Thank you! ❤
Hello! I am at the 34 minute mark and I am taking a break. Any video, in any order, is the best plan for us. 🥰 My Prairie Craft order is on the way, and I am excited! And my to-learn list is Starry Nights and Zipper canes. A girl must begin somewhere! Your guidance on reducing the triangle is a blessing!!! Now back to my studies!!!
I really enjoy watching your various series as well as your “simple” techniques. I find them very informative and your observations very helpful. I look forward to seeing more studies.
Thanks Donna. I am becoming very interested in making these. I actually like the curve in the white line as it makes the shape resemble an African bongo drum! Love that❤
A few years ago, I fell in love with Procreate, and went crazy with pattern design in Procreate, I had some scarves printed for myself and family, but now you have inspired me to see which of many patterns I could use in making Canes. Loved seeing your process in doing this. Thank you. 🙏
Dear Donna! Thank you very much! Your tutorial was my "daily reward" today😁 I noticed in the middle of my work day (my work has nothing to do with polymer clay) that you posted a new video and I was very much looking forward to watching it after work with a big mug of coffee - great relax and worth every minute! Loved it!
Thankyou Donna !!!! I am always amazed at the “ Awe Ha” moments you give us. Crazy that my brain just doesn’t figure out the alternatives til you demonstrate them. Really Admire you and your work 💞💞
Thank you Donna , you make my day! I just loved watching you work on this cane. It's mesmerising. So looking forward to see how you use the canes together. Love your tutorials💚💙💜
Thank you so much Donna for this wonderful tutorial. I am really loving these mud cloth canes! you are an inspiration and a wonderful teacher. I am learning so much from your tutorials!
Hey Donna! That beep you hear is your Mac's email notification sound. To turn it off go to system prefs, select notifactions and then choose Mail. Somewhere on that panel there will be a checkbox to deselect the audio sound. (you can do this on all your notifications if you don't like the bleeps and dingy sounds. Thanks for the video. I wonder if you might actually try a second time with this design, for learning sake to see how you would do it differently. I think that would help a lot of us to learn from this mistake. It almost seems better to reduce canes singly and then build the larger design only after all the reductions have been completed. Is this true? Thanks so much for your post. I am always so happy to see a post from you on my notifications (which does not ding, by the way!) Cheers! 💖
I will try that! The mysterious beeping! I know I should have reduced the elements separately, the thought zoomed through my brain but I did not stop. I should have. The black and white part would not have distorted and the other part would have been a better reduction, as well. I may do what you suggest, could add it to the series. Hugs!❤
Thank you for another great tutorial. I checked out the procreate app but they seem to have several of them. Some have a fee. Before making a purchase I’d like to know I have the correct app. I’m not so sure how difficult it is to work with such a close view but it is easier to see what you’re doing. I appreciate that. So when you’re in the basement by yourself (talking to us) yet appearing to be talking to yourself, does your family chuckle? Lol
I am doing great following along with your wonderful tutorials. I was wondering if you could tell me why you use a cylinder to make a square instead of stacking layers? I stacked layers into a square and had much less problems than cutting the cylinder. I am also wanting to branch out into other colors and was thinking of a version of Alizarin Crimson. I am using up all my Kato trying to duplicate that color. Any hints about that color? Thank you so much for these tutorials. They are really wonderful.
Hi Ellen! I guess I find it easier but if you find layers work better for you, that’s great! Now, Aliz Crimson. I think I got close by mixing Red and a bit of Ultra Blue. I don’t have exact proportions so use the cutter method and you will get that! Keep up the great work! ❤️

My pleasure, Debb! I love Mud Cloth patterns and colors - so special. I will do more of them! ❤️
@@DonnaKatoArt Thank you so very much🥰🤗🙏🏾 This is fantastic! I am in tears!🙏🏾💖🙏🏾
Originally it is hand painted so when you stretch it, it looks hand painted with the slight defects. Beautiful. Thank you

I love Portugal. It owns my heart
Finally!! The answer to why my triangles always have those side divots. Thank you!!
I know! Just jeep your fingers running along the edges at the worksurface and you’ll be set! ❤️

I love these colors, too! Hugs!

Thank you, Sharyn!❤
Donna, I just had an idea! If you used a glass mat you could position the cat under it and it'd stay right where it belongs. :)
Ramo, I just had a vision of Dusty under a glass mat and I don’t think that’s what you meant! 😊lol
Lol I envisioned my Craft Cat, Lola, under glass at first, too 😂
Thank you so much Donna for this wonderful tutorial. I am really loving these mud cloth canes! you are an inspiration and a wonderful teacher. I am learning so much from your tutorials!
I love them, too, Annette❤. I have a few more to do!
Thank you for mentioning how to reduce a triangle cane. I've always had trouble with those.
You’re welcome, Deb❤️

Lol! Denise, Vernon is a bit hard of hearing so it’s all good! I do think the furchildren wonder if I’m talking to them, though!❤
Hi Donna, thanks as always for such full tutorials. I am needing new texture sponges and can’t find where to buy them. Can you help? Thanks!!
Hi Peggy! The Dualplex Refrigerator liners are very close. The Frost King filter is finer but works, too. Both can be purchased on Amazon! Cheers!😊❤️

Hi , I love your tutorials. What is the name of the machine you are using🫠
Hi! I use an Atlas pasta machine (also marketed at Marcato). it's the shorter one and it's a real work horse. Hugs, D
