It’s crazy there’s really only one band to do the Meshuggah thing as good as Meshuggah and it’s car bomb. It’s even more progressive than Meshuggah. Love the tone.
vildhjarta progresses it
@@f67739 nah vildhjarta is thall they aren’t really the same style as meshuggah and car bomb . car bomb especially is more mathcore
@@MyOwnSummer_ "Thall" is more of an internet joke surrounding everyone in the Vildhjarta realm than anything. It's primarily Buster and Calle who partake in projects outside Vildhjarta so their involvement in literally anything usually warrants a plethora of "thall" comments, whether they're playing music or not. There are noises in songs like 2:40 in Vildhjarta's Benblåst or the "peeeeeew" sound at 3:52 in HLB's Ocean Drinker where I would say "that is a thall," but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a genre because unless somebody from Vildhjarta is involved, it's not thall.
Whether or not "djent" is a genre is questionable too but I recently heard a very wonderful way to describe what in the hell Vildhjarta's genre could possibly be: gothic djent.
I saw the funniest thing on the Meshuggah subreddit a couple of months ago. Somebody was asking us to nominate musicians to create the ultimate supergroup for covering Meshuggah's music. The top comment with no further context:
Greg Kubacki
Jon Modell
Michael Dafferner
Elliot Hoffman
This is really nothing even similar to what meshuggah does, but it is something completely different which I love thats good enough, the tone of the instruments is similar, the composition is totally different
"Alexa, baritone gibson explorer on reverb"
So that's what it is?
@@BiRDiEHere yessir, super limited run of 28" scale silver burts, unreal looking, perfect for low tuning
Good luck!!
Ahhhh, I thought it was the thunderhorse to be honest haha.
If you come across one you'll be lucky. The last two I heard of were on reverb last year and were gone by like ?Nov. Unless more pop up again.
So many switch ups, it’s insane to remember all that, much less preform it. Such a tight and clean sound too, that right hand is a machine.
Right? Craziness.
It sounds like it's improvised but the rest of the band just happens to know when all the changes are...
bryan macneil that’s what I admire about them, it sounds like improv madness but they manage to structure it all togethwr
Like how do you even begin to arrange something like this? How do you get everyone on the same page? It seems totally random to me, but I guess that's why I'm not in this band.
@@drphalanges1520 from what I’ve heard in interviews , Greg the guitarist arranges most of this stuff, even programs out rough drums. The drummer writes and plays guitar as well.
WTF! Insane playing and use of effects. Great friggin tone as well!
More CARBOMMMBBB!!!
3 videos total! 2 uploaded now!
I NEED THE 3RD ONE
Jarl Meemorp it’s up now :)
2:16-2:38 is the single greatest passage of riffing ever
knew what riff it would be before I even clicked. so good
literally the best song incorporating quintuplets ever. No argument.
@@jamisonandrewmanhorvaththe1124 Do you remember Bland Street Bloom? I only realized about a year or two ago that it makes excessive use of quintuplets. (Love playing this section of Blackened Battery!)
@@michaelandrews9718 by Sikth? I know of it, never listened to it tho. I’ll check it out rn.
@@jamisonandrewmanhorvaththe1124 Yeah. Their first album was great. The craziest thing around at the time (at least that’s what my 17 year old self thought)! The second felt a little less raw and bit more produced. That’s where BSB is from.
The time signature changes are outrageously amazing
it's metric division, the time signatures don't really change. im pretty sure he thinks in 4/4
@@kennysantana5077 they don’t record in the studio to a click either. Which makes sense but is also insane .
@@kennysantana5077 They play by memory - both Greg and Elliot have mentioned they don't have a click track for recording or live shows.
I'm obsessed with this track. It is ridiculous
Refreshingly disorienting but familiar. This rules. Awesome
they better also release this album in instrumental version also...
Amazing. Immediately one of my favorite guitarists of all time. WOW
WOOOO
CarBomb pewposting represent!
@@adwait1997 No shit sherlock ;)
@@adwait1997 haha damn right!
This is some next level shit! This and the first one just had me fucking mezmerized! i'm impressed with the tones, creativity, production and composition. Everything really. These 2 vids are simply so crazy that you don't really know what to expect so it stays really fun in my opinion. I'll be striving to write more crazy shit "like" this in the future.. FUCK!
One more coming too! Almost ready! Glad you dig them! Car Bomb are amazing!
my god I love Car Bomb, so creative
Incredible playing!
Greg is the future.
Love CARBOMB!
Me: So what time signature is this song in?
Carbomb: YES
Greg’s playing is so awesome!!!
I fucking love this band.
Greg deserves so much more respect for his playing. Absolutely amazing stuff. I was blown away when I saw Car Bomb live last summer. Haven't had that feeling at a show in a long time.
That little run he does at 1:31 is just *chef’s kiss*
Mind blown.
Greg Kubacki is like the "God Foot" from Initial D.
to put it simply.... Carbomb is the balls.
Greg is such a monster
Wow that was killer! 😱 Phenomenal playing and tone.
Car Bomb has quietly been destroying at the top of the game for many years.
For sure, I been following their work for years.
Since like 2007
Insane!!!
where's video 3?! need more of this!!!
Same! I've been refreshing the Fortin youtube channel for days trying to see if video 3 was uploaded yet.
Carbomb is so fucking weird. Love it! Killer and oh so tight AF playing.
sick! I remember Ola mentioned you guys, definitely listen to this !!! and killer amp too !
910- Back again for the so cool sounds, Best of NAMM here , love it
Awesome amps, awesome guitarist, awesome band.
Who needs 8-string guitars?

@@parasytex6844 well its a pitch shifted 6 strings baritone sooo...
What crazy effects, i heard he programs them himself into an ax fx??
Pew pew pew ❤️
I know nothing about guitars, but I do know that, that sounds awesome! Hence why I love Car_bomb.
That’s sick! Do you play any instruments? I’m just curious cause it’s rare that I find people who don’t play any instruments that like this type of music.
We need a comprehensive video on carbomb pew pew sounds pronto
unexpected item in the baggage area
Fuck me, I need to see Car Bomb live so bad!!
This guy is talented as Animals are Leaders + Helmet and Meshuggah together. I would love to hear a SOLO PROJECT!
Car bomb is the only band that doesnt suck
This is objectively true
so tight
Metallica after 34 years of evolution.
Meshuggah on 34 tabs of acid.
this guy can fucking go, god daaaaaamn
YEAAAHHHHHG THANKSSS!
i love this guy
Possibly the most badass Meshuggah inspired band out there. These guys fucking SLAY.
That. Guitar.😍😍😍😍😍
Sick Wow!
kick arse!!
it's amazing
Insane....
Sick!!!!!
That was so sick \m/
A>D>Dcore
lol this is awesome.
And just like that.....everyone else quit guitar....
Please, anyone has info on his rig? I need these effects in my life.
3:01 the guy behind
How do you find inspiration to write sht like this? It's unreal.
Fuckin dope
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So it's the delay, channel switch, and the two expressions? One controlling some sort of pitch thing and the other a Ct5 or some such(???)
Such incredible guitar playing and innovation. Thanks Fortin for capturing this amazing footage.
Man really have no idea. Wish we did!
It's actually a custom built foot controller that sort of hacks the axe fx in the way. It enables the axe fx to become part of the instrument. It is the reason why the effects are so clean and seamless from pitch bends, ring mod, etc. The axefx is used for the effects while the amps for the tone. Then add the channel selector for the amps and that delay pedal. On the record and typically live I want to say that it is all axe fx, the foot controller, and the delay pedal. He may use amps now, but for the longest time it was just axe fx.
Chris de Peau axe fx exp1 ring modulation and exp2 pitch shifting with the digitech doing the pew pew samples
@@Neuri Yeah I saw the AxeFx on another angled video and it all clicked. Cheers for the info.
Shuggah tallica
Meshuggah used to be metallica style
Holy fucking shit dude
How can someone remember all this?
Is that a 27" scale length Gibson..?
my pal was watchin it with me and at the end he was like ''now go and play it reversed coz I think this piece is reversed, and when u play it reversed u will get it how it should be''
-- and my brain go.Oes like '' Q#"%#$"NFDAS#"#$?=??=0??''
What are those pedals he is using? That some cool riffs!
god like
1:47 what?
How and what is this thing i am watching he hits different notes using the same open string?... And his foot doesn't even move spot on those notes so, what was i watching
literally can't even see feet on your timestamp. no.
adam landau it’s some sort of pitch shifter. I think he can just press down on the pedal and it will take whatever note it is and slowly descends until the note that he chooses for it to lower to. If that makes sense. Greg’s a litteral feat wizard and hacks a bunch of his equipment so he can do things noones ever heard of. He’s one of a kind.
tldr --> he's a wizzard
He has a pedal that works like a whammy bar: it will lower the pitch when you step on it
Solar Guitars!!!
that's a gibson
😊 Solar in the back ground 😊
Why was the axe fx 3 input lights moving, like it was being used?
FX for sure
He is using it for FX.
The expression pedals are axe fx
I wonder what Expression pedal those are?
Which guitar is the one he's playing live? Left or Right?
like a robot.
bcherbs that’s most definitely intentional
666th like \m/
Not even a click track in his ears. How the fuck
he broken the guitar..
ok it's jocke off to his left. man from a oofocus view he looks like friedman =\
Jeez bro save some women for the rest of us.
This was obviously before everything got extremely homersexual in 2020.
Man iv being lisening to this for the last 3 days trying to memorize it on my head lol so I can translate it into my drum set still hardly getting ahold of the rithm 😂🎉
God fucking dammit...
To me one of the best truly🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I mean thats how i wanna play :D
