Worcester is too far behind at this point. This needed to be done completed 5 years ago. The fact that the city still really cannot make the airport a serious entity and more than just a Jetblu stopover for the Florida winter birds is the Achilles heal. I applaud the effort, but the goal being to attract young business and young professionals is a terrible idea. Young startups and companies statistically either do not make it, move to a location of better weather or where their funding partner is, and typically try not to scale in areas with rampant heavy drug problems. Along that outlook, if they do scale and become profitable it will not be likely in Worcester with the outrageous property taxes they charge. Worcester's property taxes are staggering. There are areas like in Pittsburg, PA where startups can find plenty of space and grow for a much lower rate. The other major hurdle Worcester has is it is too close to Boston which is a major player in VC funding for technology, fintech, and bio sciences. The amount of section 8 housing earmarked (correct me if I am in fact wrong) is a higher ratio than the markets it is directly competing against. Springfield has beaten them to punch as has Providence. Even Portland Maine is closer to executing this than Worcester. Again, we love the city but it is a long, long way off from the pitched advert. We hope we are wrong in all sincerity and wish everyone luck involved.

Based on my opinion, the Boston area is becoming OVERpriced and soon to be OVERpopulated so professionals and families are moving to areas like Worcester for better deals on real estate, whether renting or purchasing. Its just a matter of time before the neighborHOOD gets gentrified and affordability becomes a concern.
Worcester stripped down: Downtown - Crackheads and city council and business folk with nothing to do South Worcester (Main south) - Don't step foot here after the intersection of Main Street and Chandler street or else you're going to get jumped. Worcesters biggest issue is transportation. The airport needs more destinations to travel to. Buses could run certain routes later and earlier then normal. The city could invest in shuttle services to some of the larger industrial/ tech parks in the area. This would help college grads and lower income workers get to and from work /school.

I was approached by a woman that I think she was a plumber, because for a small fee she would clean my pipes.
