I don't get why celebrities and their designers deliberately choose to ignore dressing up to the theme of the gala. It's the whole freaking point of getting invited.
Ikrr! it's really disappointing to see when they have both the money and resources to be able to do that. This year especially was really really disappointing because the theme was so straightforward.

because they suck; the butterflies in her hair, a ton of makeup, horrible haircut
Except the 90s were called the next gilded era, and the butterflies are a nod to the debutante parties for young women at the time

the first headpiece was everything, would’ve been perfect for the theme, nonetheless she looked beautiful, i did love the butterflies 🦋 and there’s a back story to them. so many people went and didn’t follow theme which is also ok, im sure everyone is there to have a good time and look good regardless.

The theme is gilded glamour, not gilded age. It was supposed to be an excessive show of wealth and flaunting, especially in gold.

My opinion is that she is stunning and very pretty, but it doesn't fit very well with the theme of the gala, and it would be better if the people followed the theme, because, literally almost anyone does.

it did fit the theme though. it was inspired by a debutante ball where a bunch of dead butterflies (supposed to be alive but were put too close to a heat lamp) were released on to the debutantes. also a shakespeare quote

For those of you wondering, Synesthesia is a rare medical condition when a person can see colors or shapes when they hear music and hear names/words. It's just a fancy name for when you experience one sense through the other.
Olivia looks good in every single style she's tried. But what's most attractive about her is her beautiful, outstanding personality.

she's beautiful but I can't help but watch and be amazed by hair and makeup's patience. The amount of times she turned her head when they were doing something so important--I would die if I were either of them. V. V. impressive.
Its not as serious as you're weirdly trying to make it to be. Shes just trying to be entertaining for the video while being glammed up. Plus the stylists are interacting with her while doing it so..
She only did that when she was talking to the camera, which was barely a few minutes out of probably at least 1 hour of makeup

that first headpiece was gorgeous. She maybe wasn't strictly on theme but she wasn't too far either, I think it was maybe a modern, young approach perhaps? She looked ethereal nonetheless 💜🦋

Fun fact: The first silent movies were actually during the gilded age in the 1880s and 1890s. But yes they became way more popular in the 1920s

At 1:26 mark, Olivia mentions having minor baby synesthesia, which explains a lot about the constantly changing purple, red, orange, and blue colors that really inform the audience of the different hues that Olivia actually sees with each song. I was at the May 4th show in Washington D.C., and it is dazzling to see this fusion of color and sound live, which translates directly her into fashion.
