I'm a professional ballet dancer and the fact that Kim was on demi-pointe nonstop the entire time at The Met Gala (even if it was just for the photo section) is very impressive. My calves would be cramping and I'm used to spending all my days in pointe shoes.
It's crazy, I would have trouble even after this many years en pointe lol. I have two pairs of the early 2010s Giuseppe Zanotti heelless platforms, and those aren't that comfortable with a little cantilever platform so you can put your weight back a little, wearing just a platform stuck on demi pointe would be a nightmare.

The pilled cardigan is a reference to Margiela fall 1997 collection and is a symbolic representation of how fabrics and materials age through time. Considering that the dress code and general theme of the Met Gala 2024 was the “Garden of Time" the look is a smart allusion.

I think the concept would have worked so much better if Kim was more physically comfortable because her energy would have flowed better. Instead it felt restrictive and forced which juxtaposed the carefree vision board of a wild night in the gardens, unencumbered and tousled. Such a beautiful idea tho 💫

Shoes had huge wide platforms unlike a ballerinas so while probably not too comfortable but not too impossible either. Getting into that corset is more difficult.

The idea is excellent. She looks very pretty, elegant. Cold night grabbing a sweater ( modernized) not a cape which was wore in that time period. Balancing on her toes and going up stairs is not an easy task.

Ive been looking for the entire explanation of this look and so glad i found this video. Once she explains everything it all makes sense and comes together. I know I'll get a lotvof hate for my opinion, but I look forward to seeing what shes going to wear and the story and art behind her look each year at the Met. I just think its fascinating.
I love how she calls her mom out for popping up in her vogue video. As she came in screen, I sorta laughed to myself thinking she’s looks so excited to see a camera.

I didn’t hate her look at all, I didn’t get it entirely but I did get the vibe of a “vulnerable” beauty, the low, loose long braid and the clutching of the cardigan gave it away. Kim explaining her fantasy and story behind the look truly makes it all sense, and I truly appreciate the look a lot more. She truly does look beautiful!
Tbh this look didn't do it for Kim, not many feeling her fantasy wasnt vibing her look at all... her looks are to hard you need to be soft delicate the hair made her look washed out.
I think her makeup didn't look vulnerable, it was the same kind of harsh eye look she normally goes for with the nude lip. To me a vulnerable look would quite a bit different than her norm. I think that's why the whole look didn't mesh and give the idea she was going for.

This explains her facial expression that night: she could hardly breathe and was balancing on her toes for hours.

Now I get it as far as her “uncomfortable “ look on her face as she entered the gala. She seemed perfectly fine talking and breathing during the fitting. I think it was the shoes that made her look uncomfortable at the Met. OMG that Galliano ensemble was just a complete twinkly, magic, whispery, shimmer-dream. The corset and the silver floral detailing was just indescribably glorious! I am a big corset fan, so when I saw the detail I was positively gasping for air. Incredible achievement JG! Siiiigh!

The gown is actually gorgeous, love the sweater too, but the waist didn't have to be that snatched for the look to be amazing! I think it actually makes the look less amazing, because it feels unnatural, you can see her discomfort. I don't like her, but I do acknowledge her dedication

I think this is my favourite of all Kim's Met Looks, I just love the thought & detail that John Galliano creates, he really is a genius. No one creates the romanticism quite like him.
I am so happy this video was made, I was tired of the tabloids and online trashing the look when there is ALWAYS context behind a look.
