Cool video. I've owned Garrett AT Pro for a few years and looked for a review on the equinox 800 which I plan on possibly buying next. Glad I found your channel I subscribed. I like your camera work and the review was great I appreciate it.
I work outside and during the summer I wasn't too keen on sitting in the hot sun at the beach, but the wife wants to go every weekend. One day a couple of years ago while we were at the beach I pointed out someone detecting on the beach. My wife took the que and got me a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV for a hundred bucks. a very capable starter machine I used it for maybe 60 hours, but I wanted to get in the water on the Florida coast, which it doesn't do well. At the time she said jokingly, "now go find me that ring". A few weeks ago I ordered an Equinox 800. I had it by Friday afternoon. and we checked into our hotel. We went down to the beach as the sun was going down and I dropped in in the water and within two minutes I hit on a 14k fine gold ring with some tiny diamonds. I couldn't believe it. Not much luck the rest of the stay, but i have to learn more about this machine. I've found a dozen coins in my back yard that I didn't find with the Tracker. Check out some stuff people find on Instagram, I'm hooked.
Thanks for this well done and detailed video. At this point I am planning to make a purchase. I am a little concerned as I read that the shafts get loose and wobbly to a point that they must be replaced. Have you experienced this issue?
SunsTo7 I think there certainly are better shafts out there and I upgraded mine to the Detect-ed carbon fiber shafts, see video here ua-cam.com/video/C3MdYY-vdF8/v-deo.html. However in saying that, there is no reason to upgrade if you dont want to. The standard shafts are good enough to use without needing to upgrade but you will find carbon fiber shafts lighter and eliminates any wobble but I never found that it was so bad that I had to replace, it was purely my own choice to do so.
@Cyber Yes you are correct, Multi is the same for both machines containing all the frequencies but selectable, you can only select 5,10,15 on the 600 and 5,10,15,20,40 on the 800
Do people tell you that you resemble Tom Hanks? ~ Dang - I’m 61 and can swing the CTX 3030 all day! However, we just bought the Equinox 800 for fun. I did not screw in the plastic mount under the arm rest as I found it annoying and useless. I am very disappointed that the shaft does not collapse easily, like the Nokta Impact. I will eventually switch out for a collapsable travel shaft. Thank you for the demo! God Bless & Happy Hunting!
Haha, hmmm yeah actually one person told me once a long time ago I resemble Tom Hanks - I don't see it though :) I agree, its a pitty that the shaft does not collapse easily, one of the downsides but overall very happy with the machine.
Hello good afternoon .... I would like you to give me your opinion of which detector to choose .... taking into account that I have a garrett ace 150. What do you recommend of these 3 devices: White TM 808, MAKRO MULTI KRUZER AND EQUINOX 800 ?
Someone may have mentioned this before, I haven't looked through all the comments so apologies in advance but. Although the 600 only lets you select between 3 x individual frequencies people should be aware that in multi mode it uses the same range of frequencies as the 800. So for instance on the beach which is where multi-mode comes into its own the 600 is pretty much the same as the 800.
Yes thats correct. We had a whole debate on this further down in the comments and Minelab themselves commented exactly what you just confirmed. Its good to know!
@@treasure_hunters I figured it was probably in there somewhere. Still always useful to remind people coming to the video for the first time. The 600 is an excellent machine and in many ways better value for money, especially in places like the UK where I am. Not too many gold fields here ;) Great video by the way. Clearest and most informative I have seen on the 600.
@@treasure_hunters Yep UK is a real treasure trove but always awkward to get permissions. Hence why living on the coast we spend most of our time on the beach. The nox is ideal for that :)
According to the manual: EQUINOX 600 offers 3 single frequencies of 5 kHz, 10 kHz, 15 kHz in addition to Multi, giving a 3 times (×3) range or ratio from 5 kHz to 15 kHz, hence the 3F×3 technology designation. EQUINOX 800 offers 5 single frequencies of 5 kHz, 10 kHz, 15 kHz, 20 kHz, and 40 kHz in addition to Multi, giving an expanded 8 times (×8) range or ratio from 5 kHz to 40 kHz.
Treasure Hunters the 600 in multi mode uses 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 the same as the 800. But with the 600, you can’t select 20 or 40 as single frequencies.
Yeah, we get some beautiful weather here... I guess thats why the guys here from Scotland and UK dont want to go back home, purely cause of the weather :)
Sometimes if you have a clear target and digging, signal dissappears. Dig another scoop and you have the target or can hear it again. What happens is you move the target and now only seeing the edge of target which is not picking up. Failing this, it might be a false target but you can usually assess quickly if its a false or real target. The above goes for all machines, not Equinox specific
I have not tested it against an 800. I would imagine it works the same depths on beach mode, finding the same small targets. You would need to change the mode to Gold mode on the 800 to find the much smaller finer gold targets (this will also mean finding a lot of tiny foil pieces too).
I have it for a month now and I cant believe Minelab left all the gold numbers from 1 to 19 but mostly you will find gold in 13 or 14 and also bottle caps and pull tabs are in this number so...imagine How much trash you have to dig to find good targets. It is fun but hopefully minelab upgrade the software to improve that.
Treasure Hunters not sure, the threshold is very erratic and isn't picking up coins . For example a Australian 2$ coin reads 21-22 on park mode 1. But now it reads as 2-3 and only reads at close distances
Nice one! I bought my Nox 800 from these guys during lockdown and had prompt and professional service. Highly recommended! 😎
Thank you for your purchase and kind words, I really appreciate that. Enjoy your adventures ahead, I look forward to seeing the videos :)

Thanks for taking the time to do this review. I think the 800 is the one to start my new hobby😊
I think that will be a good choice! Enjoy the hobby :)

Brilliant story! Florida coast seems like a great place to be detecting, heard loads of stories from there. Keep up with the great finds
Going to get mine tomorrow!!! Eeek! Great video for sure thankfully people do these it really helped me make a decision.
Brilliant, glad I could help. Enjoy the machine

Best review so far. Great and simple
Thank you so much Ted, much appreciated
Great video buddy. The best Equinox test and review video I've seen yet. Thanks for taking the time to make it and share. New sub. 👍
Shared on Equinox FB group.
Thanks so much Rusty, takes much effort to make so comments like that make it all worthwhile!
The 600 uses the 40hz freq too bit it only uses it in MULTI mode
The 800 you can use it in 40hz OR in Multi
@Cyber Yes you are correct, Multi is the same for both machines containing all the frequencies but selectable, you can only select 5,10,15 on the 600 and 5,10,15,20,40 on the 800
Cyber Multi is the same on both machines including 20 and 40. Official Minelab has even confirmed this in our comments

Thanks for the video, was going to get the 800 but now looking at the 600.
Both machines are great. Enjoy whichever one you decide

Beach 2 in water and shallow surf
I’m going to get mine Friday 😎
Awesome, enjoy it!
Great review , thank you .
Thanks!
great video ...but would you say its better than the CTX 3030 ???? THANKS
No, the CTX3030 is still the better machine with more features. However it is lighter and easier to use.

The 600 has all 5 frequencies the same as the 800. But only in Multi IQ mode. You can’t select 20 or 40 as a single frequency with the 600

Ok thanks for that Extropy.
An email from Minelab was shared on a blog that clearly stated that the 600 does not have the 20 and 40 frequencies.
Thanks David, thats what I initially thought too. Thanks for clarifying!
Wow looks good
Whats the life on the battery. What happens when the battery needs to be changed? Do they sell a replacement?
No idea, hoping its long lasting as its in built and doubt you will be able to change the battery.
Excellent video
Thank you
Your weather looks great were you are ,it’s bloody freezing cooled and snowing here in the U.K.,it sucks
Yeah, we get some beautiful weather here... I guess thats why the guys here from Scotland and UK dont want to go back home, purely cause of the weather :)
I'll dig a target with the 800 and it disappears. Is that falsing or is falsing just chatter.
Sometimes if you have a clear target and digging, signal dissappears. Dig another scoop and you have the target or can hear it again. Failing this, it might be a false target but you can usually assess quickly if its a false or real target. The above goes for all machines, not Equinox specific
Performance wise, does both machines more or less reach the same target depth? Small targets, or is that where the 20 and 40khz come in?
I have not tested it against an 800. I would imagine it works the same depths on beach mode, finding the same small targets. You would need to change the mode to Gold mode on the 800 to find the much smaller finer gold targets (this will also mean finding a lot of tiny foil pieces too).
Enjoyed the video, subscribed, but you are missing some area by moving faster than your swing.
First experience with the 800 a lot of bottle caps don't pick that up with my Excalibur could be I need learn The Equinox 800
Great video, thanks!
Thanks 925inder, glad you enjoyed it!
Good info!!! Thanks!!!
I dont know what you did or what you used to remove wind noise, but im interested :-) one thing tho on earphone i dont have sound :'(
Used a wind foam protector over the mic, but wind was really really strong so also tried to reduce the wind noise further in final cut pro.

My eqinox600 haw fake signal in salty water.
Try reducing the sensitivity
