Thanks phil. Command stand was fun. I am trying to figure out what to do for my Austrian command stand. That’s next. Maybe running

Magnificent. I keep being tempted to do these wars in 10mm (or 6mm). Looks so good in 15mm. Your painting and basing is excellent. Would love to see a video of a game.

It’s a very big and impressive army for sure. I really enjoyed painting it. Especially the cavalry for some reason

Thank you for the message. I’m into both historical and some fantasy. Like them both actually. I have videos on both. What are you interested in

My whole life interested in ancient history and cultures. Over the last couple of years now also more and more interested in historical armies. What brought me into Flames of War. And started to go more back in time with my game interests. Last 20 years only played fantasy and scifi.

@@reddragontabletopgames I’m just interested in it all. You should do what you like. Every Time I start a new project I learn a lot. I study the history read books, watch movies, watch UA-cam‘s and really try to understand the history, its impact on us today and just absorb it. For me it’s mostly about the journey, the journey of learning. Right now I’m working on my dark age armies. Trying to understand the changes from the fall of Rome until the emergence of the feudal estates. Alfred the great and Charlemagne, the great Muslim leaders, the Viking incursions etc. how it all worked together. So what I would suggest is find some thing that peaks your interest, build it painted and enjoy the Representation of our forefathers.

Sorry if I missed this in the vid, are these based on 40x40, and what ruleset do you normally use for these? Absolutely gorgeous collection and so cool to see all together.

Hi Tom, you didn’t miss anything in the video. I did not mention size basis or what rule sets are used when playing. I have been basing everything on 40x40 for this period. It looks nice and works for creating different formations. I like the look of the 8 figures to a unit. Started with 6 but it looked bare.
Also from an organization it works great. Each stand is a battalion. 3battalions to a regiment and 2 regiments to a brigade.
Rules??? Welll there are many. I’ve settled with black powder because I know them. I only tweaked them for this period. But regimental fire and fury would work as well. Wargaming in history books volume 12 and 8 helped with the Austrian-Prussian war.

@@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 Thanks for such a detailed response, this is great! I always get a bit paralysed by basing before starting a new project - always like to maximise the amount of systems I can use models for. The 40x40 looks fantastic, especially at this scale. Always a joy to see your projects!

Thank you for watching but I’ve perfected my basing and always question the rules that’s why they use basing the way that they do. I don’t like little small bases all over the place. Like the one by 1 inch or they even worse, the 3/4“ x 1“ bases. Absolutely ludicrous. For black powder I found 40 x 40 to be a convention everybody uses. Even my ancient and medieval armies are based upon this measurement. If you look at my ancient armies they’re based on 80 mm frontage by 40 mm depth. Or 40 x 40. I even have learned how to base quickly and not make it such a terrible chore

Thank you for this. May I ask which rules and what basing you use?

Hi John, well this is a great question. 😌 I was using black powder with a expansion set I found on line for the Franco Prussian war. There is also the standard fire and fury variant. I have almost every set of rules out there but have not tried them.
Basing! I use what I always use and find efficient. 40x40 base. Can fit 8 figures to a base. 6 base to a unit or three as you want.
It seems to be attractive for me. What do you think ? I tried to make real corps etc!!
      What do you be play?

Wow what a HUGE army as wargame armies go. I might have missed it but what rules are (will) you (be) using ?

    • @thekrausecollection15mmmin53
      @thekrausecollection15mmmin53  2 роки тому +1

That’s a loaded question. There are many to choose from. I have decided to go with black powder and using Franco Prussian addendum I found online. Only because I know the rules nothing more. There are of course several other very good sets from regimental fire and fury, Bruce weigels sets etc.
