@@Humble197 I already knew Deftones back then but only heard the White Poney album. Great band and the funny thing I ended up hearing the original version in the matrix soundtrack.
I'm a massive Linkin Park fan and a big fan of Deftones too. In fact it's Linkin Park who made me discover Deftones and fall in love with their music. Many comments here are embarrassing, disgusting and shameful and I don't understand why. Linkin Park and Deftones band members have been very close for many years. Stephen Carpenter (Deftones guitarist) is the godfather of one of Chester Bennington's sons and he played the guitar on "By_Myslf" (the remix of By Myself for the Reanimation album). Mike Shinoda played live at the concert in support of Chi Cheng (Deftones bassist who sadly passed RIP). After Chester passed, Chino Moreno collaborated with Mike Shinoda on the song Lift Off. Many years prior, Mike and Chino also collaborated on the song "Razors.Out". More recently Mike remixed the song "Passenger" for the 20th anniversary of White Pony. This are just a few examples showing how Linkin Park and Deftones are cool with each other. Linkin Park always ackwoledged Deftones and credited them for their massive influence they had on their music. The point of this cover is to pay homage to Deftones and it's not meant to try and outdo them. When Linkin Park played this song live they were the best selling musical act in the world and that helped Deftones a lot. Many like myself discovered Deftones thanks to this cover or because they toured together multiple times. So knowing all this is totally disgraceful to see so many derogatory comments about Linkin Park, Deftones, their fans and their singers. It doesn't make sense at all. I'm not saying that if you like Linkin Park you have to like Deftones and vice versa. But if you like LP or Deftones you should at least show respect to the other band
Was waiting for someone to say this. People going around saying "LP sucks" and "Deftones is so much better" or "LP is 10x better than deftones" and "Deftones is mid" like sure its fine if you don't like the band but can people grow up, let people have their opinion, and show some respect? Well said. More people need to see your comment.
