I've started reciting some of Kitty's lines to scam callers as they try to get me to reveal personal information. And then if they persist, I cut in with a loud "where are those parsnip baps Morag?"
There is something exquisite about it. She acknowledges the audience response, but not really its laughter. "I tapped her cleavage with a pastry fork": So funny!
exactly, I always notice that when I watch these, she never pauses the character as it were, she just naturally weaves in bits of character work to leave space for the audience to laugh. it's masterful
Utterly unique and gloriously funny. Those were the days when humour was funny in the hands of real artistes and not a f**k in sight to prop up a lack of talent.
"all this loud enough to blow the froth off a Horlicks two tables away". Victoria is a legend, she never failed to make me laugh until it hurt. Patricia is a living legend. She can deliver like no one else.
Victoria Wood's words delivered - impeccably - by Dame Patricia Routledge. Sheer comedy perfection. I've lost count of the times I've seen this sketch and each time I'm left helpless with laughter. "All this in a voice loud enough to blow the froth off a Horlicks two tables away" 😂😂😂
When you get a mix of possibly the greatest comedy writer to come from these shores, with possibly the greatest comedic actress......you get this.....perfection.
As talented as Patricia is, I can't help but think of Hyacinth Bucket every time I see and hear her lol 😅😆😅😆 Victoria's scripts are genius. She turns the ordinary into extraordinary and laugh out loud. Gosh, they don't make comedy like they used to. 💔
Truly Truly fantastic what a talented Lady Dame Patricia Routledge is. My all time favourite Performance just has to be her appearance in steptoe & son. Pure brilliance. 🌹
"I speak as I find" - I met a few like that while I was up North! Kitty, the appalling Continuity Announcer, Acorn Antiques (Kenny Ireland sadly no longer with us either); all brilliant and original creations. Victoria, we're going to miss you!
«"Dear Kitty, my boyfriend and I used to make love at least twice a night but now it has dropped off..." Well I'm not surprised!» 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 that line made me die
I have always loved Britcoms, although my access has been limited. This entertainment is a joyous discovery. Patricia Routledge is so familiar to me from her Hyacinth role. Now I can enjoy a more full range of her extraordinary talents. Thank you for sharing. I am sure I'll watch over and over.😀
But wer`e spunky in Cheadle, we totter on! I was genuinely CRYING with laughter - 100% top class. Brilliant stuff thanks to the tallents of Routledge & Wood.

She is just indescribably brilliant. And with a giant nod to the writers. Writing for someone like her would make me get down on my knees and thank God daily.
Genius it will be sad day when she leaves us . Dame Patricia I don't believe has been given the recognition she deserves in her long distinguished career in film & television .
Just the thing to "get friggin'" in. Have you thought of finishing off the look with a pair of slingbacks, an electric potato peeler and a pedestal mat worn as an amusing mini-poncho? And, yes, showerproof too!

Perfect in every way.
The finest comedy writing.
The very best delivery.

Victoria's scripts and Patricia's unbelievable comic timing. Match made in heaven
As achingly funny now as it was back in '85. RIP VW x

Such comedy genius x
Thing is, Kitty says out loud what the English are too polite to put into words. That's why she's so hysterically funny.
