What to do- 1. Search in XDA about your handset 2. Root your device 3. Remove bloatware 4. Install a stable Custom ROM (LineageOS is preferable) when available What not to do- 1. Stop using Stock ROM (Though it is the most stable ROM) 2. Stop comparing with iPhone. 3. Don't full your memory 4. Don't run bunch of apps in Background 6. Don't sink in water, chop with knife, hit by hammer, boil in Coca-cola.
I was tested CM10, MIUI and Seraphic Seasons, on my old pal and I finally got back to stock ROM, flashed custom kernel and its performance is the best in comparision to custom ROMs I tested. So it isn't true for all the devices.
I can understand creators being sponsored to produce videos, but over a minute / a quarter of the video?! Added onto which, this sponsor seems to have a stock script. Such overly long ads are likely to make people avoid them. Never mind dot coms aren't so crucial as every modern browser has search built in, so just typing the domain without the extension is likely to get you there. Dot coms are also likely to be the most expensive suffix as they're the most popular (not just used for US companies, as was the original intention - with US non-profits using dot org and US ISPs using dot net).
Luis Martinez I have used both and I like both. They are different experiences with their own advantages and disadvantages. I prefer the iPhone at the moment. I don't need the latest phone and I don't switch phones every year, but I like up to date software. It always bugged me with Android, that if I buy a phone with Android 5 I'm lucky if a receive Android 7 (yes my Android was a nexus, no I didn't receive a lot of updates). I could buy a used 6s plus and I still get updates in 3 years, that's how I want it. Plus I love the apps you get on the AppStore, a lot of high quality content especially if you want apps designed for a tablet, that's where android lacks a lot. And the connectivity with my Mac is just awesome. But again, I like Android very much and as soon as the companies don't abandon A 700$ phone after 1 1/2 to 2 years I might think about going back.
Hmm, my Nexus 6P never came with any, or if it did it was only like 1-2 apps that I never noticed or, I installed them on my old phone and it installed automatically..*****
That point was more valid a few years ago... Now the only real issues with android is some lazy developers only optimising their apps for iOS rather than android as well. I'm looking at you snapchat...
vonshtoyven 1. you said "everything" which is complete bull shit because everything always worked for me on my Android phones even the cheaper ones. 2. You can change the "screen timeout" off right from the settings on most androids, unless you're using an older version.
I am now a strong believer in the Exynos over the snapdragon 820. I know the Benchmarks are much higher with the Snapdragon. But I've done the research and now believe the Exynos has slightly better battery life and lower heating.
+Karlo Gonzales Makes sense to me. A comparison between the Exynos S6 and snapdragon S7 showed the s7 was consistently just 2-3ºF hotter. So denial of heating.
Buying a Nexus is actually a bad advice for iPhone users, in my opinion. I personally love the nexus, and I run the Google Now Launcher myself, but it is less intuitive for iPhone users. They find it hard to understand the way things work with the stock android experience, while Samsung's OS is much more accessible to them. Even though it has more options and it tends to over complicate things, the basic interface appeals more to the iPhone user.
Omri Yeshaya I switched from iPhone to Android December last year and I bought a Moto G4 Plus 64GB (near stock besides Moto actions) and it's not complicated at all I definitely prefer it over IOS
I wonder does the video fit to the audio? Cuz at 0:45 he is talking about that task killers are not necessary anymore and the video is showing the app Tasker, which is something completely different LOL
I noticed in one of your recent videos that the lighting on your face was a bit cool, and i pointed it out. But now(in this video) I can see I has gotten warmer - nice to see that you actually listened👍
I just bought a Nextbit Robin and transfered my iOS device. I love Android so much already. Not only does it "just work" like iOS, but I like the widget customization, launcher freedom and overall UI better. Google's integration into everything is nice, too.
Huawei's skin (EMUI) has a built in task killer and it kills all processes when the display is off. And you can't change it, all you can do is to manually lock the app to stay in memory.
#just_saying Android N's new features, we've already using them in Touchwiz, Miui and Cyanogen......So, I guess these custom ROMs are lot better than Google's stock Android in Nexuses
sandeep natikar CyanogenMod is ahead of both TouchWiz and stock. However, Nexus phones do pull ahead of any given Samsung phone. Google's updates come out way faster than Samsung's, and so technically, the Samsung phones are left behind in many respects.
weedwak Bro, I have all the features of Android M and even a lot of features of Android N in my phone which Nexus users still don't have and they'll get it in Android N update......My phone works butter smooth with absolutely no lag and no ram management issues ps: My phone is not stock Android
so buying a phone outright is more cost effective.... what plans would be suitable then do i go to a major carrier still an just have their plans or do i do a major prepaid for the best type of service
I've been told differently about buying unlocked versus going with a carrier. My unlocked note8 doesn't get updates nearly as fast as carrier phones. Yeah, contracts suck. But so does waiting months for the updates that carriers already got.
about to switch from 8years of IOS use to my first android device. S7 EDGE Anyone got some tips & tricks for me? I would like to sync some of my data from the one to the other but i'm guessing that wil not work?
+Timothy Wouters the s7 edge comes with a little doo-hicky that plugs both phones together to sync all your data across to the new phone. /watch?v=ugsbp9mSVrs watch from 0:55 sec
First put it on a case and install a tempered glass, second remove the bloatwares, third root install custom recovery backup the rom and install adaway.
My girlfriend only ever had an iPhones but when she made the switch to Android she got the Moto X Pure. Not carrier-bound, and running 99% stock Android. So the switch was easy, plus having a boyfriend who's had multiple Android phones helps too.
+TheBigclow on a samsung you do. greenify cant stop built in apps. so when theres a bunch of bloat it cant stop it. also instagram, facebook and messenger come preinstalled which are all battery hogs and youre left with no choice but to disable them
Excellent advice. I've followed these philosophies for the last year or so now. Stock android has been the least fuss in my experience, stopped using a task killer back in the Froyo days, and started buying my phones straight up 2 years ago (the sense of freedom is refreshing). People, stop leasing/contracting your phones. It's not a damn car or house, save your scratch for a few months and buy a clean, off carrier, phone that you actually want and will own.
If I were to buy a Nexus device from my carrier instead of buying it outright, would I receive updates slower than normal? Or does it make no difference? (I live in Canada if that makes a difference)
I felt the same way until I got Samsung Galaxy S7. I'm Blown Away how far Samsung has gone with it. to start off TouchWiz has huge Improvements and most of its bloatware is gone. don't take my word for it I'm just telling you my honest opinion, as far as I can tell you I now prefer the S7 over my old s6.... but yeah the S3,4,5. they sucked. the iPhone is ez and ready to go, any S7 will need a little bit personalizing it but once done the interface is much better.
I just moved back to android from ios. the phone I have is alcatel one touch pop 3. So far it's a great phone it doesnt freeze it has a 5.5 inch screen and can handle a good bit of gaming. Its also only 100€ too. But the camera is 5mp and the front is 2mp. I don't know if it supports HD UA-cam videos yet cause it gives me the option to choose HD videos on UA-cam.
+Icarus975 Um... Yes and no. How heavily do you use your iOS device? If you just use the bare bones functions of iOS, please get a Nexus 6P or a 5X. But if you have jail broken it, go get the G5, you'll love it.
***** Well, if you mean by "helping" deleting cache and data that'll be filled if you start the App again and be cluttered with Spam, Scam and other unnecessary "features" then you are absolutely right.
With a Custom Rom you have a Apple like experience why because you can fully Customize your device no bloat and the speed of a custom rom is amazing also you can do extra things with root.
I have a 1st Gen Moto G. Without using ShutApp, the phone can get really sluggish and I am sometimes unable to make calls. After running ShutApp, things get back to normal.
what not to do: boiling it in fucking coca-cola. stop it.
thank you
#TechRaxReference
Lmao hahahahah
+redhoof Exactly! . . . . . . Use caffeine free cola instead.
+techrax
What to do-
1. Search in XDA about your handset
2. Root your device
3. Remove bloatware
4. Install a stable Custom ROM (LineageOS is preferable) when available

2. Stop comparing with iPhone.

+Sourav Bagchi But my S7 Edge is waterproof so yeah sink in water works for me. You should have said sink in toilet XD
+Kevam Patel last time i checked, toilets have water in them to
I was tested CM10, MIUI and Seraphic Seasons, on my old pal and I finally got back to stock ROM, flashed custom kernel and its performance is the best in comparision to custom ROMs I tested. So it isn't true for all the devices.
Custom Kernel is also a Customization.
Sourav Bagchi Yes, but I mean that custom ROM isn't a good solution for all the phones, sometimes a tiny modification of stock makes great results.
So you are telling me apps like clean master are useless?
yes
Yes they are
+martinjez1 very much so. it only makes your phone slower.
yep.
essentially
2:48 I thought it was a point he was making on to the video. Sneaky sponsor lol
VidShoe yes he does that a lot reusing the same footage too

Lol, this dude kills me with these Domain.com advertisements. 😂
I'm pretty sure Tasker isn't a task killing app...
Yeah ikr...major disappointment in AA on that mistake.
it's the "better alternative" that they are talking
+arzio47 it doesn't even have anything to do with shutting down apps
arzio47 They didn't mention it specifically as a better alternative...its main function isn't even to kill apps.
+Tracy HeadCasey He actually did call it an alternative
I hate when people say Android sucks because the only device they tried was a 100$ Touchwiz infected lollipop Samsung phone 😤😤
MattVibes True
Yeah lollipop was really bad, but they've really revised it.
Don't expect Apple like experience
I don't why but I laughed very hard
Ya expect a way better experience

Neil alvares You will get Better experience than Apple iPhones
Talks about unneeded carrier advertisements and then starts super long domain.com ad for more than 20 seconds.. -_-
wasted 4:02 minutes of my life
No, you've supported the channel^^
To waste your life, you have to have one in the first place...
wasted seconds because of this comment
Kevini saname woooooo damn
i was taking a shit so i didn't waste anytime
u look like hank in breaking bad
+Ibrahim Ahmed the only similarity is that he's bald
ummm no
his headshape is alike
Ibrahim Ahmed I saw your comment before seen him and I was like OMG he does lmao
Ibrahim Ahmed i'd say Mike from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul....only a lot younger
Almost 1/3 of this video is non topic related talk, you might wanna get your content together sir :D
Every Jayce Broda video ever: 60% content, 40% domain.com advert.
In the UK carriers don't install bloatware, and delay updates. It's just the manufacturers.
+TheLMGN same here in canada
+Kamil Niewiadomski they don't I bought my phone from O2, and no bloatware included.
Hmm, my Nexus 6P never came with any, or if it did it was only like 1-2 apps that I never noticed or, I installed them on my old phone and it installed automatically..*****
+TheLMGN lol mah Nexus 5 came with no bloatware. BECAUSE ITS A NEXUS LMAO
Alex D'Amato same
Moved from Iphone 5s to LG V10 . Loving it ..
love the v10 too
Good move my friend.
Im not your friend guy
+Le John lol
kulio nuel haha xD But seriously . The v10 is butter smooth
"in iphone everything just works"..... what doesn't work on android?
That point was more valid a few years ago... Now the only real issues with android is some lazy developers only optimising their apps for iOS rather than android as well. I'm looking at you snapchat...

vonshtoyven also saying "everything isn't a valid reason why
vonshtoyven and read the comment above yours because it's actually true
Not sure aside from stuff made exclusively for an iphone.
I am now a strong believer in the Exynos over the snapdragon 820. I know the Benchmarks are much higher with the Snapdragon. But I've done the research and now believe the Exynos has slightly better battery life and lower heating.

I plan to swap from iOS to android and I am getting a Nexus/Pixel/sailfish/5P (Nexus sailfish) and I know I am going to love it
Johnny Russo soon going from ios to oneplus :D
Bobalobadingaming oneplus ftw
iRuffy :D Are you high? lol. Isheep spotted.
iRuffy :D Yeah. In your dreams lol.
iRuffy :D Nice lack of arguement
1:54 left phone fail :D
ahahaaa
Lol didnt notice that at first
vonshtoyven using an Android phone is nothing like using an iPhone using Android is a way better experience
Noticed that and I was kinda confused from it
I'm a passionate android geek myself and I say this is one of the best videos of its type out there period. Kudos
What not to do: Void your warranty... Applies to everything.
I live dangerously.
***** Do you know what warranty even is?
My phone's guide said that the warranty will be void if I so much as use a charger other than the one included even though it has a USB-C port.
IHateNumbers234 that's if the charger breaks it
Nexus phones aren't available anymore. Now there's just the Pixel, which is super expensive. It's amazing, but expensive.
Why did you show a picture of the Tasker app, when talking about task killers? Get your facts straight!
Wow, I actually didn't know some of these thing. Thanks! 👍
Buying a Nexus is actually a bad advice for iPhone users, in my opinion. I personally love the nexus, and I run the Google Now Launcher myself, but it is less intuitive for iPhone users. Absolutely. In India only a minute portion of smartphones are sold via carriers.
Tasker isn't only a task killer , and titanuim backup isn't as well
To answer your second question, because flash randomly stops and camera no longer works until reboot, that's why
Hey! I just got a Nexus 5 yesterday and I am really enjoying it!
Huawei's skin (EMUI) has a built in task killer and it kills all processes when the display is off. And you can't change it, all you can do is to manually lock the app to stay in memory.
Do not recommend nexus for iPhone users!Better recommend Samsung s6 or s7 they are more like an iPhone
#just_saying
Android N's new features, we've already using them in Touchwiz, Miui and Cyanogen......So, I guess these custom ROMs are lot better than Google's stock Android in Nexuses
Except stock is much cleaner. Nexus phones also have much longer support. However, CyanogenMod is a bit better. TouchWiz? No way.
weedwak featurewise, they are just way ahead of stock android
Dakoda Koziol have samsung and don't like touchwiz...you can get rid of it, in literally few seconds
#beauty_of_Android
sandeep natikar CyanogenMod is ahead of both TouchWiz and stock. However, Nexus phones do pull ahead of any given Samsung phone. Google's updates come out way faster than Samsung's, and so technically, the Samsung phones are left behind in many respects.

In Australia when you buy a carrier phone they do also come with bloat ware but in our case they are all uninstall able.
So does anyway have any tips of what to and not to do with my new Huawei P smart?
I watch every episode and I don't even have an android device 😆
I have a 4.5 year android 4.2 phone and i still haven't recevied an update..
Jayce and juan. Two of my favorite smartphone enthusiasts.
Any suggestion for Techrax?
You said stop using task killer right? It is just that when you said that, the app tasker showed up.
so buying a phone outright is more cost effective.... what plans would be suitable then do i go to a major carrier still an just have their plans or do i do a major prepaid for the best type of service

Timothy Wouters I would recommend buying a pixel phone from Google.
Data transfer is much easier
Timothy Wouters Samsung makes good hardware but they suck at updates.
Timothy Wouters s7 edge is a great choice man. I have s7 and love it!!
I really agreed with what you said about iOS users getting a Nexus.
First put it on a case and install a tempered glass, second remove the bloatwares, third root install custom recovery backup the rom and install adaway.
TASKER in my case has been very helpful, maybe it's because I've only programmed it lightly. It's a must have app for me.
My girlfriend only ever had an iPhones but when she made the switch to Android she got the Moto X Pure. Not carrier-bound, and running 99% stock Android. So the switch was easy, plus having a boyfriend who's had multiple Android phones helps too.
do you think the galaxy s7 will have an unlocked version
Pretty much all phones do....
+Daniel Lockwood so great
Yes, i already bought one
+rallipappa what site did you use to purchase it?
willie J a Finnish store that basically sells all kinds of electronics.
love this guy, very good speaking voice
Is rooting fine for new phones
you don't have to be rooted to use greenify effectively
+TheBigclow on a samsung you do. greenify cant stop built in apps. so when theres a bunch of bloat it cant stop it. also instagram, facebook and messenger come preinstalled which are all battery hogs and youre left with no choice but to disable them
What version of android OS became good at managing its own memory? Is a task killer needed for Lollipop?
Excellent advice. I've followed these philosophies for the last year or so now. Stock android has been the least fuss in my experience, stopped using a task killer back in the Froyo days, and started buying my phones straight up 2 years ago (the sense of freedom is refreshing). Even though it's got the ability to kill apps, tasker is nothing like a task killer. It's an automation app actually...
If I were to buy a Nexus device from my carrier instead of buying it outright, would I receive updates slower than normal? Or does it make no difference? (I live in Canada if that makes a difference)
So these work in iOS too?
Awesome video! Really gave me insight on what and what not to do on my Oneplus X :)
so I should stop using cleanmaster?
So greenify is better than any app killer?
This list kinda sums up why I'm an iPhone person and hate the crap out of Samsung
you are a gay then.
+John Avi Logic...
then why are you here.
I felt the same way until I got Samsung Galaxy S7. Justin Keathley exactly!
Hey guys, I am moving to Android from iOS. and I want the LG G5 because of the removable battery and cool features. Should I get it?
+Icarus975 Um... Yes and no. How heavily do you use your iOS device? If you just use the bare bones functions of iOS, please get a Nexus 6P or a 5X. But if you have jail broken it, go get the G5, you'll love it.
stop the vid at 3:00 after that he just advertises his domain.com shit
Why? That's thanks to sponsors that we can see this video for free
Thanks bro
thanks. no one likes ads.
*2:47*
Cyril Tshiteba good point but it would be nice if he told us to leave if we weren't interested
but doesn't the unlocked version kinda b bad for ur calls or Internet bc the carrier version are made specifically for ur carrier
Why did you show footage of Tasker while talking about Task Killers?
These things don't have anything to do with each other.
DOT com billionaires.
*_Also do not flash Android N if you aren't a developer_*
Remember when we used kit kat android version, we had the ability to record our screens?
What not to do: not waster 3 minutes of the video on the "domain advertising" stuff in the end
"And for that I'm your buckle berry"😂😂😂😂😂
would you say buy an unlocked phone to buy?
I definitely agree with carrier phones.
Is it ok to put custom recovery and flash custom rom on my new phone?
Bloatware is not a problem with my carrier. They preinstall only one app which is pretty useful
I like this guy he always speeks about good stuff he should do more video's at Andorid Authority hes the best
So what about ShutApp should I use that? But I do have greenfiy..
android marshmallow/nougat also asks you whether you want to allow each permissions
I bought my phone from AT&T go-phone but I got it on Cricket wireless. Will this still delay updates like he said?
Why did you should Tasker and TB when talking about the fact you shouldn't use Task Managers? btw, they are the best apps on the play store imo
Hey, uh, Tasker isn't a task killer, it's a programming platform.
Swear to god I got an iPhone 10 ad before this.
a year later and I'm still in love with my Nexus 6p but I plan to get the S8 I just wait there was a carrier unlocked version for the USA
You forgot all the "Boost" and "Clean" Apps like Clean Master.
YOU HAD JUST ONE JOB!
Actually, Apps like CCleaner help free up space by deleting unnecessary cache and data.
***** Well, if you mean by "helping" deleting cache and data that'll be filled if you start the App again and be cluttered with Spam, Scam and other unnecessary "features" then you are absolutely right.
Dakoda Koziol I have'nt tested CCleaner for Android though (well, i didn't even know that it existed for Android until now tbh).
I skiped the ad so its poitless to me... Nice advice about what we shoulnt do.
Okay. So let's say we don't get our new android phone from a carrier. Do I just head down to best buy and buy the phone itself, or something
+mhollis1989 yeah
which phone has less blotware?
You know Jayce, that Harry's shave might just be what you need for that sweater pilling.
With a Custom Rom you have a Apple like experience why because you can fully Customize your device no bloat and the speed of a custom rom is amazing also you can do extra things with root.
Is lookout trustworthy?
NFS Most Wanted and Opera Mini needs Contact permission. I don't know why?
Isn't this a re-upload? I have the feeling i saw this already
Should I get an s7 edge if I'm new to android
If you're new to Android, I'd get a Nexus. They don't have the best specs, but they have the best software. that or an HTC 10
+Zachary Huck The Nexus 6P is a beast.
no. get a Nexus. it is recommended. but yet again Samsung with there TouchWiz have a stock Android theme
I got an s7 edge I just slapped on nova launcher and set a materialistic theme and I like it more then my friends 6p
even KitKat has light option
There is something just forgot, use a SWAP program to expand your ram and use Custom Roms. But then again I see it was forgotten
title clearly says "what not to do"
what if i buy carrier subscriptions OUTSIDE of the us?
I have a 1st Gen Moto G. Without using ShutApp, the phone can get really sluggish and I am sometimes unable to make calls. After running ShutApp, things get back to normal.
say no to carrier branded phones. I agree. Essential Phone or Google phones are the bombs. 2:11
How about a Samsung direct from Samsung or Amazon?
