Defective Silicone Red Sea 525xl transferred to Replaced new Version 525xl. “Tank Transfer”

- Finally got to get started on the tank transfer. From the 525 XLRed Sea ; to the new replacement tank that I received from Red Sea, because of the fact that the silicone was failing on the previous tank, which you will see in this video . I do and I am thankful for the fact that I was able to get a replacement tank from Red Sea due to my warranty. I know that for others, it may have been more of a challenge to be honored their warranty for replacement of their Red Sea glass tank.

I had to do this to my S850 G2. I feel your pain. It was a total PITA. Good luck with the new tank, we need it.

I recently set up a Reefer650 and was so skeptical due to their warranties. Nothing buy nightmare stories are shared on R2R and I'm so happy it worked out for you! Hope i never have to go through the process but happy they're sticking to their product
I was very skeptical and really thought from all the bad stories also that I would not get honored a replacement tank. I was wrong; and very glad I was. Very thankful Ref Sea honored me with a replacement tank and a better version one too.

I have a Reefer 625 and the right lower stand panel had a outward bulge. Took a forceful explanation from me to get a new panel under warranty so make sure those bolts are all fastened correctly. Their new stands have 6 or so additional bolts on that panel vs the older design. I further reinforced the right side with two additional vertical and horizontal pieces fastened with wood screws. No issues since with my stand, good luck.

My 625 has an aluminum post where the two sump doors come together, surprised they don't include that on the 525.

I hope Red Sea worked it out with you if it was defective. This is one hell of a job to do alone that’s not fair to you at all especially how expensive these tanks are now. I hope Red Sea realized that and did right by you! Love to see the hard work and dedication to the hobby tho. Not many of us have that passion anymore. Seems like a lot of these companies are in it for the money these days.
Yes they did. Amanda sent me my replacement tank that I just installed on this video. I do believe the saltwater hobby is getting to expensive and eventually this hobby will kill itself if prices keep getting higher. They won’t have enough turn around to support demand and I believe we will see more companies going under in the saltwater trade. To many known faces. Not enough new ones and it shouldn’t be that way.

@TheHerm14 I ordered the Max E 170 AIO. It showed up damaged, so I didn't accept delivery. Amanda sent out a new one that was damaged even worse the second time. Today I received the 3rd delivery. The box was damaged, but the contents inside seemed OK. Planning on filling it with water tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Beautiful tank, but how do you sleep at night with it being right next to you !? I could NOT do that….sorry for your hassle going thru that, very stressful I know !
It’s super quiet. You can’t even hear it. I keep the protein skimmer clean so no smell either. My dogs smell more and make more noise than my aquariums’ in my home
That trigger doesn't bother any coral? I've always wanted one but I have way too much LPS and sps to lose...
My trigger fish has not picked at any of the corals or Zoe’s in the tank. LPS or SPS. It has been (knock on wood 🪵) peaceful to corals and tank mates. No issues at this point in time and I have had it almost a year now.
thanks for video and glad you got new one. I am noticing my tank has same issue now, mine is 425 xl. Did they sent you whole new set?
Only the glass tank and cabinet. No plumbing accessories from the sump area. Only plumbing which were the tubes for the over flow box. Which connects to their style of bulkhead.
No sump and no piping. Everything else yes

Looks great for a totally new setup. How do you like the Nero pumps? Are they as tough and reliable as the MP’s?
I have had them for about 2 years now the AI’s. They do get jammed up from time to time. Just a little cleaning gets back up and running. I do like them and have a brand new ready as a backup and haven’t unboxed it yet.

How long did you have the tank until you needed to replace it? Did you buy the first one new?
The first tank was a new one. Bought from my LFS. 2.5 years is how long it lasted before the silicone started degrading and air bubbles started showing. Those are the signs of a tank failure in progress.

No I did not ship the old tank back. Posted the cabinet online as a free pick up for anyone who wants it. They can convert to an actual cabinet for storage space. Tv center or whatever comes to use. Glass tank is best to dispose. I believe the entire silicone situation could be a huge toss of a coin whether you or someone else can fix it. Good glass of anyone just needs glass..
