With how much you panel line you're going to just eat through all your panel liner pens. Invest in some Tamiya panel line. They come with brushes in the lid and they last an extremely long time for effectively the same price.

Mecha, you have the Last Shooting version of the RG Zeong. It contained the fixed holding hand for the beam rifle and the shooting effect parts as well as the other optional parts for the RG Granddaddy. You should've showcased it.
It might be a fluke, but I've had this kit for 2 years. I mess with it regularly and so far, it hasn't gone loose. The shoulders have a little bit of trouble supporting the rifle's weight, but that's about it. I did break the plastic tab on the beam rifle though and had to make a new one out of pla plate...
those panels on the back of the calves can actually pull out and flap around on 2 or 3 joints, it doesn't do much for articulation but it's a bit better than what he's showing. also there's separating armor on the upper arm too, really hard to notice but it's still impressive. they tried a lot of stuff with this one that didn't make it into very many RGs, even the early ones
I bought a Gundam 40th Memorial Set which comes with a gunpla from 1980, a HG RX-78-2 from 2001 with a shiny finish and a RG RX-78-2 from 2011 with a few transparent parts, I finished building my RG today, and wow, that was a whole lot of work, some pieces just wouldn't stay connected (the toes, shoulder guard, back of the arm would go flying whenever I moved it, skirts would fall off whenever I moved them). It looks great, the splitting armor is so cool and the transparent armor pieces look great when they're being lighted from behind and you can see their details, but I just want to finish building the RG accessories, pick a pose and never touch it again, I now understand why some people call RGs hand grenades.
this kit is, in fact, can do the full split.. just a little bit finicky. the shield (with the full armament) can be attached to the backpack using the same slot as the hand.
I was always warned that the leg part of Rx-78 RG is so delicate to handle turns out i must first put all the armor parts in the frame to make it sturdy and thick with also carefully moving the parts as usual. the should parts surprisingly in Mecha's review it doesn't fall off quickly mine does that I have to use glue to make it stick forever and not fall off. Playing with this kit does loosen up the joints each time you move it everytime but will last long to your satisfied pose and keep it that way. :) Its fun to build RG kits most especially with the new generation RG that was released circa 2018 - 2021. Give it a go :)
About when would “early real grade syndrome” end? I’m relatively new to gunpla and especially rg stuff. I’ve seen some Rg kits at my local store with “gunpla evolution project” on the boxes, so whenever that started?
After RG unicorn, all are the best.. before that, it depend on how you handle it.. some are so bad like Zeta.. some are good like MK-II.. gp01 and gp02 are good too..
I heard this was a huge hand grenade but it seems that is not the case. And the color separation is still by far the best of RG line imo. Early RGs deserve love too.
The stand adaptor for the crossbone is that same, how weird they brought back that style of adaptor connection, but it's not like the Lil pirate has any weapons to store in the same spot
Hey mecha, loving the reviews of old kits that you are doing at the moment! Out of interest, have you considered reviewing the MG 2.0 of the RX-78-2? I hear it’s the most anime accurate MG and still holds up brilliantly
For me, think kit is responsible for gaining 50 years of age. It's waaayy too floppy. I can't say it hasn't aged well when it was terrible straight from the start. Mine was always floppy and it like to spontaneously combust when I do absolutely anything. It hard to just get it standing. And OH MY GOD are those hands frustrating. I will say that it looks great, and was very fun to build.
It also should be mentioned that the knee joint connected to the thigh can break super easily… so just loosen and move all of the joints before putting all the armor on the frame 🙌 that way it’s not as stiff
Japanese food is da bomb I missed getting me some last year due to lack of travel ( 😭i want my melon bread and tiramasu puffs and haro cookies ) I was forged the review more ad it wets my appetite (I built the kit when I visited the statue in 2014 )
What Mecha doesn't mention is that every part has half again as many parts as other RG's, because it's so overdesigned. The little yellow V fin in the crotch? That's put between two red parts and the upper one is tiny and a pain to get inside the front of the "diaper". The whole model a borderline hand grenade (I've already replaced the thruster bells, as one of them dropped off into the nether realms that is behind my desk), the tolerances are not as good as the later RG's and you'll have random panels pop off. I spent maybe ten minutes putting mine in a few iconic poses and I could feel the limbs getting sloppy almost off the bat. I will say this though, it's absolutely gorgeous and I don't regret buying it. RG is my favourite grade by far and I've loved building every single one of them.
Fun to build though and good training for the crossbone plus building from the start of the line shows the evolution of the kit designs ( I've built from the original pre fg/hg glue sand paint repeat up to the latest extreme & unleashed kits )
I seem to be the only one having luck with this kit. I bought one two years ago and it's staying together. Maybe it has to do with me finding a pose that I like and not changing it for a long period of time.
Finally, do review other rg kits and 2.0 some of the older rg reviews if you feel like it, i love your reviews and there not a lot of rg reviews that is as good as urs
So is it fair to say that a major factor on ERS is that the inner frames on RG could not take much weight? This seems to be doing okay and people seem to say the MK II holds up but things that have flasher builds and bigger backpacks seem to get all floppy. I wonder if they could have molded the MS joint in a slightly harder plastic if the concept would have worked as intended.
Some early real grades get floppy? Well, I have Astray Red Frame and RX-78-2, RX-78-2 is still ok, but Astray red frame is SUPER STIFF at the knee joints.
quick question are the hands connected by a removable ball joint? if so just steal the hands from the hg revive so there is no cancer when attaching the rifle or bazooka
Yah... that RG RX-78-2 and the and the RG GP01 are the most fragile Rg's/ Kits(other than the MG Unicorn) that I bought... Broke both of them because of the sensitive inner frame Put me off real grade until recently my very first solid one the RG Impulse Gundam.. every since then Im loving the Line I bought the RG Banshee the one with the LED GUndam Based limirted one and the cross bone all 3 are awesome I hope the Next Rg's will stick with Mini master grade style ,
the best standard beam saber effect parts are the ones that come the rg crossbone. not too long very thin they catch the light well and unlike other standard beam sabers theu glow nuclear orange under a black light (all the pink effects on the crossbone gundam do the same)
Mecha awesome video but be careful with the Color Gundammarkers, they can demage ABS plastic like the "pouring type panel line markers" what most of the preassembled rg inner frame is made out of. Lost the thrusters of my RG Unicorn cause of the silver marker i used that caused the plastic to crumble appart 😭
@@MechaGaikotsu Thats true the pouring type panel line markers fill the lines very nicely but they should mark the warning bigger on the color marker like the metalics and the panel line markers that they demage ABS , since that happened i always look in the manuals to find what plastic types the runners are before painting.😅

The recent RG I built was the wing zero ew man I love the kit and it has prebuilt inner frame
Its fun to build RG kits most especially with the new generation RG that was released circa 2018 - 2021.
What an adorable core fighter!
The advanced marker set that a orange copper color that would accent the sticker very nicely
I don't know how it will hold over time, but it's hands down the best looking rx78-2 I've seen that isn't a PG. Now I want one.
The RG joint frame is inspired by Keropla
So are we gonna talk about the smiley faces on the knees?
yes
I see Kirby's face... =D
Yeah 😂 lol
The revive will always be the definitive 1/144 Rx-78-2 Gundam
I just finished building this kit and it wasss DDOOPPEE!!! I recommend it
I remember that this was my first RG when I first got into gunpla. And that was 11 years ago damn
Hopefully there will be a version 2.0
And it did
@@EpicYBA nice prediction brah, crazy ups
It also should be mentioned that the knee joint connected to the thigh can break super easily… so just loosen and move all of the joints before putting all the armor on the frame 🙌 that way it’s not as stiff
The ad may be long but man that is actually super tempting man
I went waaaaay over the actual asked time because I had too much fun with it! Legit nostalgic tastes.
LOL "tastes like nostalgia"... sounds like a powerful drug
Japanese food is da bomb I missed getting me some last year due to lack of travel ( 😭i want my melon bread and tiramasu puffs and haro cookies ) I was forged the review more ad it wets my appetite (I built the kit when I visited the statue in 2014 )
I've been waiting for this review from youuu
This is my first Real Grade even I'M build
The Rx-78-2 is my Favorite Gundam
I actually never thought that you'd review this
That’s the one I got, my first real grade I built, and it was the first real grade!
I love how this kit looks like the status.
you can now used the effect parts that comes with the RG Zeong Last Shooting Effect Set, lol.
This kit is my first gunpla.
I'm new in this gundam collecting thing and I'm very surprised this is more accesible than collecting Mazinger Z memorabilia
Imagine this rg with today's rg technology
whoah... it has been that long....and here I am that started in the late 90's (Them old Wing kits). :)
thank u for this, planning on getting it to partner it with the zeong but got traumatized by the RG zaku back then
Holy moly, the snacks ad is really interesting
I love mine but the side skirts explode off any time you look at it funny. Definitely a cool, if finicky, kit
Which gundam markers did you use for the other shades of white and how many shades of white did you use?
Some early real grades get floppy? Well, I have Astray Red Frame and RX-78-2, RX-78-2 is still ok, but Astray red frame is SUPER STIFF at the knee joints.
quick question are the hands connected by a removable ball joint?
if so just steal the hands from the hg revive so there is no cancer when attaching the rifle or bazooka
It is.. better get ms hand 1 package.
Yah... that RG RX-78-2 and the and the RG GP01 are the most fragile Rg's/ Kits(other than the MG Unicorn) that I bought...
Broke both of them because of the sensitive inner frame
Put me off real grade until recently my very first solid one the RG Impulse Gundam.. every since then Im loving the Line I bought the RG Banshee the one with the LED GUndam Based limirted one and the cross bone all 3 are awesome I hope the Next Rg's will stick with Mini master grade style ,
the best standard beam saber effect parts are the ones that come the rg crossbone. not too long very thin they catch the light well and unlike other standard beam sabers theu glow nuclear orange under a black light (all the pink effects on the crossbone gundam do the same)
Mecha awesome video but be careful with the Color Gundammarkers, they can demage ABS plastic like the "pouring type panel line markers" what most of the preassembled rg inner frame is made out of. Lost the thrusters of my RG Unicorn cause of the silver marker i used that caused the plastic to crumble appart 😭
Cracked up my girl gun lady guns quite a bit. But the lines looks sooo nice 😅
@@MechaGaikotsu Thats true the pouring type panel line markers fill the lines very nicely but they should mark the warning bigger on the color marker like the metalics and the panel line markers that they demage ABS , since that happened i always look in the manuals to find what plastic types the runners are before painting.😅
i hope we get a master grade version of the following real grade kits: unicorn, banshee, phenex including the rx-93 nu gundam
Honestly I just want a RG GM.
Sucks that the normal zaku got a RG and the GM didn't
