    Forty years ago, I did an activity which forced part of my stomach up through or past the diaphragm. It was a couple months later that I suddenly started having severe stomach pains. I was initially misdiagnosed by a doctor as having ulcers. It was a couple of years later before I realized that the doctor was wrong and I had gastric reflux disease, or GERD. Often, GERD happens naturally without a clear cause. Normally, the esophagus sphincter and the diaphragm sphincter muscles line up and reinforce each other. If part of the stomach is pushed or pulled up through the diaphragm, the sphincter muscles don’t line up and stomach acid can more easily leak into the esophagus, causing GERD.
    I figured out a simple cure: I would drink a couple glasses of cold water first thing in the morning and jump up and down for a couple minutes to jiggle the stomach back down to its normal position. It may take a repeat on a few successive days for the esophagus to adapt to the longer length for the stomachs in its new proper position. I would repeat the process anytime I got heartburn or acid taste in my mouth. I have been trouble free for over 35 years now. I later learns of a gastroenterologist in Michigan who recommends this process also; maybe others now also. The cost is just a couple glasses of water and maybe ten minutes of time if this will work for you.
    The body needs strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach to trigger the esophageal sphincter to close, to break down bulk foods generally, and to specifically separate the amino acids in proteins to be effectively absorbed in the intestines and used by the human body. Most or all GERD medicines block the production of or neutralize the hydrochloric acid and thus interferes with protein digestion and interferes with esophageal sphincter closing. Not good.

      Same here causing chest pain, shortness of breath and my hiatal hernia was so large they were concerned about it and took me to surgery to "Tack it up" and the Stomach x-ray showed it was not working and they finally did a "wrap surgery" wrapping the hiatal hernia around my esophagus.

    I can’t stand tight fitting clothing. Even my bra bothers me with this HH. My clothes look weird cause I buy larger sizes for the waist. If I wear a dress I look pregnant. My mental health has suffered too. When I mention the palpitations I have been told that I am probably stressing and need to take better care of myself. Thank you Dr. for this valuable information and validating my feelings about the symptoms

    This is exactly my experience. The palpitations and difficulty breathing were always written off as panic attacks,.and a low dose anti depressant prescribed. It was only after I became bed ridden with chronic fatigue and managed to recover enough to insist on further checks that I had a gastroscopy that revealed the hernia and its probable effect on the vagal nerve as a root cause. It should be the go to check for someone with history of such incidents.

I feel like i have slow digestion which contributed to bloating and an increase in this. Root cause is usually your back (poor posture has a big role in Hiatal hernia) if you notice daily that your sleeping position as well sitting position isn't right = you have a first answer + Pretty weak diaphragm can cause that. Usually these are the main two reasons. Personally for me it's my back = working with chiropractor helps a lot.
    You need to train your back and diaphragm. and do daily 2x times these whole diaphragm exercises + back exercises + let chiropractor do manipulations (it's slow process because "muscles" "tissues") and try to understand when Your hiatal hernia poops double up... And avoid that.
    Stress, Siting position, sleeping position etc.

      I really am suffering, could NEVER afford such a visit. My story is LONG! Agree..your stomach attaches to your spine, so everyone is bent over PHONES, etc. with #1 being POSTURE! Had severe hip replacement which unbalanced my body. I lost inches so l'm kinda lopsided 🙄 !!.l ended up with h pylori...then hiatal hernia...then something sadly called" tortuous esophagus " where it's S -shaped instead of straight ! IBS-C, so please explain what you said about the poop?! I go NATURAL, like magnesium citrate, prune juice..but incompleteBMs (sorry !). THIS causes bloating and NON STOP BURPING..Wow, what a mess! Next GASTRO appointment if he says PPI...🤬not happening! Any suggestions for a messed up lady at the end of her rope...cuz NOW it's affecting my heart, breathing. If anyone's read all this , DO NOT get constipated! It makes it really worse! BEST WISHES and no PPI's...IMO we need more acid( especially over 50 crowd) .

    Idk why doctors keep doing this method of treatment. I feel like they just want to move u a long quickly bc they really don't care. My 16 year old daughter has this hernia. Couldn't breathe and has a lot of gas and burping pain in left shoulder and leg and jaw. Went to ER not having heart attack, but Was given antacids and told she needs to seek therapy for her anxiety. I didn't give her the antacids nor seek therapy. Instead I came home a prayed and ask GOD for guidance and I was shown about this and came across this video and another guy. Bc I'm into herbal/ natural healing. I now have her on pre and probiotics to balance her gut at night. removed certain food triggers such as dairy, onions, garlic, tomato sauce, pasta, flour Mediation for breathing and walking for exercise to support blood flow and muscle. I have spent many of nights awake researching and praying for some help. I believe GOD has leading and shown me like he always does when I call out to him. Yes, a pinched vagus nerve at the hiatal hernia. More than likely your occipital region on you head down will be sensitive to touch leading down the left meridian in to your spine. Massage, myofascial release and chiropractic adjustments will move along...directed to the back of skull to shoulder blades to entire rib area, especially on the ridges then move to back alongside your spine. Then I suggest learning diaphragmatic breathing and shaker excercises. Go on a very bland diet during this time to heal completely.

Limit the nuts. Dinner (1/4 pound of chicken or fish, green low carbs veggies . No coconut flour desserts , avoid kale if is not juiced. No sweet drinks or sugars, avoid carbs. Light exercise : walking or yoga. Maybe take your mom to a naturopathic doctor, who used acupuncture to relax the diaphragm. I hope your mom heal her hernia and feel better 🙏🏼💓

      It’s probably a “Schatski’s ring”. This happens when there is a build up of tissue (or something) at the opening of the stomach at the point where the esophagus attaches, in response to the acid backing up into the esophagus. I had same problem with food getting stuck and the gastroenterologist told me it required an endoscopic procedure (outpatient) to widen the opening. Unfortunately it has to be repeated every few years because this doesn’t address the cause of the build up, which is, you guessed it, that darn hiatal hernia that you can’t fix….

    I like your channel and point of view you have towards HH. I have been diagnosed with large hiatal hernia 7 years ago and was taking Pantoprazole until recently. A month ago i started to cough constantly and by doctor s advice started taking Omeprazole. Cough subsided, but in last 2 weeks i have problem with all food, except water, getting stucked halfway down, few minutes after consumption. I have BMI of 43, so i do know the root cause, but in my country (Eastern Europe), doctors don t even consider thinking about making gastric bypass to eliminate cause of Hernia. They just want to do Nissen, they don t do any newer methods even if other surgical fields are very developed in my country. I am desperate, because i have big problems eating anything and assume that hernia went from large to giant and feel that fundoplication is not going to solve the problem. Besides that i can t have laparoscopic one because i had prior open operation in abdominal cavity years ago. My question is : Does contrast x ray of esophagus and stomach show size and position of hernia and with that urgency of surgical treatment? Facing long waiting lists for endoscopy makes me want to go to x ray first.

    • @vikkipetersen220
      @vikkipetersen220 3 роки тому

      Xray isn't the best diagnostic tool unfortunately. Once you get a diagnosis you'll know if surgery is a must or not. If it is small surgery won't be necessary. It is also important that you know surgery has a poor success rate. Consider calling us for a free phone consultation at 408-733-0400.

      I have several videos on this channel that cover different aspects of hiatal hernia. I also have several blogs on my site as well as a free ebook: www.RootCauseMedicalClinics.com. The information I provide is true; if I told you to stop consuming a certain food, that would be misleading because it is different for different individuals. I know we all want the "one thing to take" answer, but unfortunately, it would be truly dishonest to say such a thing. Our programs are tailored to each individual and that is why our success rate is so high. With that said, I do give general tips in the places I mentioned, just perhaps not in this particular video. I hope that helps. We'd be happy to assist you if you'd like. Consider calling us for a free phone consultation at 408-733-0400.

    Mine was a bleeding hiatal hernia with cameron lesions and I nearly bleed to death with a 2.9 hemoglobin. I don't think anything you have suggested would have healed it. You need to watch people who have bleeding hiatal hernias on your way as it does not work.
