I was lucky enough to see this song performed by Neil and Tim Finn the day after Paul Hester took his own life when they were touring as The Finn Brothers, Easter Monday 2005, London Royal Albert Hall. It was touch and go as to whether the gig was going to go ahead and this one was one of the opening songs. About half way through, Neil wandered to the edge of the stage and said to the crowd, I'm going to need your help with this one and sang the opening line of the chorus, no microphone and just played the acoustic guitar part and the crowd, slowly and quietly at first sang it back at him, 4000 people in a building that has perfect acoustics and perfect visibility for everyone in it. ...to this day, with all the gigs I have seen since, I have never felt shivers at a gig like I did that night and it was the most emotional gig I've ever been to. There was something in the atmosphere at that wonderful venue that night. If you stuck your tongue out, you could have tasted it. This song is way beyond special to me, it is part of one of my dearest and most treasured memories. Looking forward to seeing them again next Sunday in England. Neil is one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.
