  • Lately I went a little wild and bought three different lots of games off of ebay! These were lots of Super Nintendo, NES, Famicom and Super Famicom games. Many I've never even heard of but wanted to try. So today I'll share what I found and maybe give you a little nostalgia for the games of 30 years ago. Also, I apologize for repeatedly holding up the cartridges out of frame like an IDIOT so they're hard for you to see! Total amateur mistake :(

    Great finds Philberto! Weird that some famicom games are locked

      Thanks man! Yeah I'm still baffled by that. I don't want to buy a Japanese Famicom just to play these but I'm still curious as to why they don't work.

      Thanks man, I know the original cartridges have gone up in price a lot but there are actually some good bootleg multicarts out there if you just wanna play the games.

    Some good pick ups there bud!
    I always heard good things about Populous but never played it. With the way you described it, i doubt id get into it either lol. That twinby games looks really cool, id like to check that one out some day. The caveman game looks very appealing too.

      Yeah don't waste your time with Populous haha, Joe and Mac is much more playable. I'm not sure but I think Populous was one of those games that started on PC and for some weird reason they tried to port to the consoles.

    Gradius II won’t work on the NES because it relies heavily on the VRC4 chip, which is exclusive to the Famicom. The Famicom had more sound options than the NES had as well. Those Japanese keeping the good stuff for themselves! lol. Gradius 2 though is freaking awesome. Graphics and sound are excellent. I own the PCE CD version, but the famicom is still impressive. If you ever want to sell it let me know and I might pick it up from ya lol. If you can find a way to play it, i recommend it though.
    That was an epic pickup video! So many good games and some great Japanese titles too! Hammer'in Harry is pretty cool and Joe and Mac 3 seems pretty great. I have Cybernator on the snes. Vulken, the one you have, is prasied for its story. The story was edited and changed in parts when localized. Had suicide stuffs and other content of war that was removed for the US Cybernator release. You can get a fan translation repro that translates in english and adds back in the cut content. Contra 3 is freaking Epic and one of the best the system can offer. You made out like a bandit in my opinion lol. Very nice.

      Ahh so that's why Gradius wouldn't work...what about Super Mario 3 though? I never knew the Famicom used different chips Do you have an actual Famicom system? I'd be happy to trade you something for Gradius if you want it even with its broken case. Just get my number from Toro.
      Yeah picking up these titles really made me wish I could read Japanese! Maybe I'll just find the script for Cybernator so I know what's going on at least. I mostly just wanted to play it for the cool mech action haha

      @philberto78 I have a RetroUSB fpga NES. Basically, it's a programmable board that can be whatever the programmer wants it to be. So only as good as the one making the code. In this case, it's painstakingly programed to be a NES and Famicom. All accessories work with it, and it has both regions slots to play either us or jp games. It outputs 720p with hdmi out. Runs around $200. Has built in GameShark for cheaters lol and scanline options. Even can use the enhanced sound capabilities the Famicom had. I've had it for a few years now. Great purchase. I only wish I could hook it to my crt easily.
      Super Mario 3 should work. I've not heard of any issues with it. Yeah, the NES had two or three chips made for US games that won't run on the Famicom. So it goes a little both ways. Konami pushed harder on the Famicom for sure, though. Get contra 1 on the Famicom, and you will see animated palm trees moving in the background where in the nes version they left out the extra chip and no moving trees. Castlevania 3 music is very different in the Famicom version as it had more sound channels available. Konami went all out back in the day till they dropped the ball hard after the PS2. Few games here or there were still great, but not the legendary status they once were.
      Cybernator, I finished way back in the day, and I enjoyed it for what it was. Don't remember the story at all, lol.

      @@TheAlphaOmegaX3 Sounds crazy I've never heard of something like that! I like collecting import games but I think the Famicom is a bit too old for me to get carried away collecting for it. It's amazing how much gaming stuff is out there now though. You're always a wealth of information Daniel haha

    It seems like you've got a lot to resell. What sites/apps do you use for that? How long does turnover take usually?

    • @philberto78
      @philberto78  3 місяці тому

      I just sell stuff on ebay and I price things pretty competitively. Turnover time with games really just depends on how much demand there is for that particular game. Thanks for watching!
