    • @guffaw1711
      @guffaw1711 3 роки тому +4

      They must have tweaked the shutter speed so that the frequency of some of the strings is a multiple of the shutter frequency. This is a neat trick that looks pretty cool. You could even make a string look like it froze in place.

    • @VodkaSelekta
      @VodkaSelekta 3 роки тому +3

      It's probably helped by the harp having so many strings at so many frequencies, some of them are bound to cause the shutter speed effects.

    • @peteranderson037
      @peteranderson037 3 роки тому +3

      @@guffaw1711 It's easier to tweak the tuning of the harp than the shutter speed on the camera. Besides, there are a number of notes that are very close to being a multiple of the shutter speed.

      Seriously, I think this is the best pedal demo channel largely because every video could just as easily pass as a relaxing ambient song. It's not just "here are what some settings sound like," she actually just plays music and lets it speak for itself.

      thank you guys so much for the kind words 🥺❤️ I can't even express how much that means to me!!! that was always my goal for this channel -- to showcase how the pedals sound without pressuring anybody to buy one or falsely influencing their decision. oh thank you so much!!! you have to know that I ALWAYS take it as a HUGE compliment when people fall asleep to my music!! 😂❤️❤️❤️ when I was young and just starting out with the harp, I would ask my dad to sit with me while I practiced, so he could give me feedback about how I played. I would play a piece for about 4 minutes, feel extremely proud, and then look over at him like "so how did I do?" and he'd be SILENT because he fell asleep during the piece 😂 I am SO glad you're enjoying the music, it means so much to me! 🥰❤️

    Emily... I know I've posted comments on a few of your videos before, but I hope you're able to read this. I've been feeling pretty down this past week due to a few things and haven't gotten round to watching your last few videos yet. But watching this video now has made me realise just how important to me you, your music and your channel has become to me. Something genuinely feels missing without seeing and hearing you for a long time, and when I finally come back, I feel so happy and peaceful. It's almost like a spiritual feeling that I can often only ever dream of feeling. I love all of your videos so much, but this video hit differently for me. This video put me on the verge of tears...That's not an exaggeration, I was completely welling up and smiling so much, I couldn't believe it. I almost forgot what that feels like. I closed my eyes and imagined I was floating deep in the ocean, dark blue with the rays from the sun just barely shining through. I felt warm though and very happy. I've always daydreamed about that imagine and now this video teleported me straight into it and I just can't quite explain it tbh... I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you Emily, from the bottom of my heart for everything you do, for all the happiness you bring and for all the indescribably beautiful music you make. You're absolutely amazing, I wish I could give you a hug haha! Thank you thank you thank you. :')

    Cool new camera tricks keep the series fresh; it's probably a lot of extra work, but it's noticed. Love this pedal's sound, how you play into it, and the pedals you chose to pair it with (Dark Star, Avalanche Run, and I'm always a big fan of Randy). I hope the warmth of these sea wobbles keep you all in good health as the weather turns. Good on Thorpy for recognizing a quality channel.
    We have a lot of weird fun here, but sometimes, a good chorus is the only prescription. Thanks for taking us on this deep sea dive; we saw some crazy things, shared a few laughs, but ultimately, like the deep blue sea itself, this device only reflects ourselves (literally and figuratively). Maybe, today we learned that if we can have a good time, it's because we are capable of happiness ourselves. Though the tide may swirl and our course may change, a vessel carries the hopes and dreams of all that wait for it.
    In this essay I will...

    First off great video work and editing here especially in that intro. 3:25 I couldn't agree more! So many chorus pedals to me just have a very generic sound or only have one decent setting. This sounded great everywhere. A good chorus is powerful in its subtlely. It's not an effect I use a lot of as I usually only prefer it with acoustic instruments, it is an amazing one for harp. Of course, a personal favorite is simply that, and no statement about the relative merits and faults of others. That said, my own personal favorite is the venerable Boss Dimension-C, and its Behringer clone, the CC300 - the king of choruses. Where so many chorus pedals use, and vary the time of, a single delay chip, the Dim-C countersweeps TWO delay chips. So, when one sweeps sharp, the other sweeps equally flat.
    There are two main consequences of this. 1) You don't perceive the more obvious "pitch-wobble" that you notice in single-chip choruses, because it is always simultaneously a little flat *and* a little sharp. 2) Where most other chorus pedals provide *two* voices (clean and wet), the Dim-C provides *three* - one at-pitch and two at variable pitch - yielding a richer chorus sound. Folks tend to be turned off by the 4 button-switches and no rotary controls, but it's actually enough. I will note that I actually prefer the Behringer clone, *because* they use cheaper button-switches. The Behringer lets you press as many buttons simultaneously as you want, or even have NO buttons pressed, which is actually my preferred sound from the unit (a lovely near-Leslie swirl, that sits at the boundary of chorus and flanger).

    • @emilyharpist
      @emilyharpist  3 роки тому +1

      I have been sleeping on Behringer pedals and this makes me really wanna dive in!!! 🤔

    • @markhammer643
      @markhammer643 3 роки тому

      @@emilyharpist Just note that Behringer stopped making them after acquiring TC Electronics, so you'll need to keep your eyes peeled for a used one, or a music store clearing them out. TC now produces the 3rd Dimension chorus, which kinda sorta *LOOKS* like it should be a Dim-C clone, given the 4 push-buttons. But I have yet to spot a 2nd delay chip in any of the gutshots I've seen. And, given that it is a decidedly mono pedal (the DC-2/Dim-C/CC300 has stereo outputs), I doubt I will find one. Boss recently produced a reissue of the Dim-C in "Waza" form, with a higher price tag (I paid $20Cdn for my CC300, new). Perhaps you can borrow/rent one to try out.
