It’s a real shame how many people find this to be an overrated, boring experience. It’s a tragic character piece displaying a man that wanted to help the world only to lose his identity and ideals from his success, and realizes this too late. Just because it is highly regarded and doesn’t have any avengers in it doesn’t make it a bad movie.

I think the problem here is, that Citizen Kane introduced much of the storytelling tools used today. Orson Welles never said he invented them, BUT he used them in a clever way.. You see a deep focus shot and it's no big deal. You hear dialogue overlapping...You see a long tracking shot, same thing. You see a montage, same thing.. You tell a story using these tools, and every film maker want to emulate them... Why? Cause the story was told in the most efficent way.. For me, The Godfather(1973) is overrated. Just take a look at it again and you'll see. There are just a couple of scenes that are good and that is it.. The rest is mob propaganda. It's the Howard Hawks method (Rio Bravo,1959), 2 good scenes and no bad scenes. It's a wrap.

@@ZoolGatekeeper I'm very agree with You, even though I don't really understand what are You talking about and also for Me, The Godfather (1972) is The Great Movie Ever Made (starring Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, etc).
But also The Godfather is not My Most Favourite Movie.
Sorry if My English so bad

For many, if not most, of us that studied film and worked in the Industry - Citizen Kane is IT - the most amazingly perfect and inspiring film ever created.

When Susan Alexander leaves Kane, he starts to trash his room.. Remember that the actor Welles is only 26, and manages to look old and clumsy at the same time.. This is real acting.. Compare it to the beginning of say 'Saving Private Ryan', where a young actor pretends to be an old man.. looking more like an 80's rhytm machine.. So my final thought is, HOW did Orson manage to pull this off?

I think your mistaken that was an old man at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan

Dearest Mr. Scott, I know you are a newspaperman working for, perhaps, the most important newspaper in the world. Citizen Kane isn't about a newspaperman, flattering tho that may seem. It's about the fall of any great ego from the heights - Shakespearean, Athenian, eternal. Kane could be Bezos, Musk, Krupp, even the Trumpf. Some years from now they may have to explain what a newspaper was, but that will not deter from the power of Citizen Kane, as it is about us.

Dude Orson Wells was 26 when he directed and starred in this one. Just think about that for a second

Well, you took it to the next level. I think Koyaanisqatsi really IS the best film ever. And I really regret having not seen it on a big screen. Even as a Tv version it was like walking into a desert and forgetting your name.. I'm using this analogy cause I feel the same way about that America song... That is truly event cinema..
