It's really good to see how things were in comparison to how they have changed. I was born in the early 60's so this is all relatable to me, being from GA. It really makes me smile. You're truly remarkable with what you do! ✊🏾👦🏾👍🏾
I almost lost it when i saw the boys put their foot in to be chosen by eenney meeney miniie mo. My 55 year old mind blocked that part of my childhood from my memory for some reason. Wow!
👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻👏🏿 STANDING OVATION!!! THANK YOU SIRS FOR MAKING THIS NOSTAGIC VIDEO AVAILABLE FOR US ON UA-cam. 🙌🏿🙌🏼🙌🏾🙌 I am from NYC and lived in Atl over 20 years....im in tears seeing landmarks that no longer exits ....bravo💪🏽
This is wonderful, Mike! I love these types of films. Thank you very much for sharing this gem with us. This film brings back fond memories of being raised in New York.
Just the concept of 10-12 y/o kids walking around by themselves in a big city (whether it’s to get to school or visiting their favorite spots) would never happen today. The kid is probably 12 at the most walking around 9th Avenue by himself. That’s just how it was back then. But I also thought his statement about how “people say New York is dying, but how come so many people keep coming here?” People are still saying the exact same thing in 2023. So maybe the more things change, the more they stay the same.
I’m not American but this is a very good film as this was before oil crisis and the decline of American manufacture sectors I knew Pittsburgh and NYC were big cities but didn’t know Atlanta was so advanced and prosper even back then! I only knew Coca-cola and Delta from Atlanta I hope the boy from NYC made it in the music industry
Is it just me or does it seem like people from back then had different accents like...time accents. No one talks with that sort of timbre anymore; like it sounds like very rhythmic.
I loved this. What a fantastic documentary. Born in ‘63 in DC area so this felt like a film about older childhood friends and family to me. Biggest sad take away for me was the loss of so much gainful manufacturing & construction work that was so admired by kids, and of course unionized, since this film was made.
2021 & if u go to Pittsburgh you would be stepping back into 1968. Nothing has changed since this was filmed- same gray, overcast drab looking old houses & buildings. Depressing
12:09 "This building (the Twin Towers) is gonna be so tall they're gonna have to put bug red search lights on top so the planes don't crash into it." Well maybe they should've added some extra more.....
Not validating the question as it seems facetious but the visuals for 1968 Atlanta had me concluding this was shot before April 4th and more likely in 1967.
i love hearing the recordings of children's voices from the 60s and 70s.

I wish I was taped when I growing up in the 70's and early 80's! This was great, very nostalgic! The younger generations of today need to see this!

The soundbed in that sequence sounded a bit crazy and inappropriate.
Loved this one Mike D. Thank you for all you do.
I was born and bred in London but that still didn't stop my enjoyment of the vid.

How cool is this !
What happened to the movie The Startup starring Diggy Simmons. I think it was a movie on BET. Why is BET not allowing us to watch it?

Thanks for posting!
Question: what was that red/rustic thing the lil white boy in Pittsburgh was riding on?
One of the inclines, there are steep mountains between the Monongahela River and the neighborhoods to the south, so there are funiculars
I think it’s the Duquesne Incline.
What happened them I Wonder..
In Swahili..
ya kuvutia..
( Fascinating )..
Is this a documentary or movie because it says 1968 but black kids are playing with white kids I didn't know they could do that back then
Yes they could, it wasn't 1868!
@@Jase9 Amen LoL
Please log off and do the education.
I played with white kids in 1968 and I live in the south.
