You my friend created something special here. So very atmospheric and picturesque! Absolutely stunning and very beautiful sceneries. This kind of adventures I really like. Excellent video and great ambiance.
a video in cinema quality, probably one of the best i have ever seen, on one side the incredibly beautiful shots and on the other a humble living human being with great values
There are so many amazing and beautiful places in the world... this is one I did not know anything about. Thank you for taking me! I would love to hike there someday. Your production was stunning... great photography, great drone shots, great story and pacing... keep up the good work!
Good for you, man! You sound like me, making my first big adventure for three months in 1981, then continuing for the next four decades. Now in my sixties, I look back with so many great memories and no regrets. I wish that for you as well. I haven't done the traverse of Madeira but plan to alone this October. What month did you go? What was your route? Were you able to find stove gas in town?
Hey Mec, thanks for your comment! I did it in April and you should have pretty similar weather in October. I got the stove in Funchal (you should be able to find it in any outdoor store). And about the route... I hiked from Porto Moniz to Sao Lourenco connecting all the interesting spots along the way. Madeira is small and all the cool spots are somehow connected. You won't find it any difficult to traverse 🙂
❤ really well done vlog Marek. I'm planning to do my first solo hiking this year and I picked Madeira but for a 5days. Would be great if I could contact you for some advices. Thanks!
Thanks a lot Mark, the route is available on my website but it's in Czech only (you can use google translate) and I did in mid april. From Porto Moniz to Sao Lourenco (sort of freestyle connection all the interesting trails along together)
Hi Marek, beautiful work. Greetings to you and I love to see more of your journey. But say, what are you eating there? Looks like a mixture of mashed potatoes and oats. 😅
Hi Mikael. thanks a lot! Finding there the gas might be quite tricky but pretty much any outdroor shop should have some. I bought it in Funchal in AKI near Decathlon where they have it as well. And as far as I know there are some small outdoor shops in the city center that should have it too but while my stay in Funchal everything was closed.
Hey Phil, unfortunately I don't have it saved anywhere. Here are some keywords: Porto Moniz - Fanal - 25 fontes - Pico Ruivo do Paul - Pico Grande - Pico Ruivo - Miradouro da Portela - Sao Lourenco
Excuse me, Marek. Were you able to sleep at the Pico Ruivo hut? I thought it was closed and you could only buy some drinks. How could you book there? Thanks in advance
Where would you suggest to stop between Boca do Risco and Ribeiro Frio? I'm planning a hike from East to the Westernmost point taking inspiration from you :) and changing things a bit but can't find any camping spot in that area. I wanted to stop in Portela because I thought that from Canical to Portela it's already a biggish chunk and I have time to take it all in. But there's nothing that I can see from various maps. Only a couple of restaurants in Portela and that's it. I really don't feel like walking all the way to Ribeiro Frio as it's another 11/13km (as I would camp just before Pico Areiro in the Lagoa camping spot). I guess I could wildcamp somewhere around Portela but I'm not sure cause it's not really allowed.
Love it! It was fun seeing the island through the lens of another filmmaker. I just released a film about pretty much the same trip that you did. So I really enjoyed seeing your film with a different angle. Let me know if you watch my version of the trip, I curious to get your thoughts on it. Anyway great video, really love the narrative that you did on it . I'm gonna subscribe to see what next for you. Have a good day
How long did it take to hike across Madeira? I've been a few times, but always had a car. I'm thinking of hiking all the way around the island, but don't know how long it would take.. 😊
I did it 8 days but the 2 of them I spent inside some accommodation due to bad weather conditions. So basically 6 but keep in mind I was doing lot of work to get this video so if I was only hiking it would be even faster. It depends how fast you want to be :)
Breathtaking intro shots! I really like the style of your videos with the mix of info and impressions of the beautiful scenery. I guess I have to go to Madeira soon. Thank you very much for sharing. And in case you want to relax to a little solo hike through the green forest around one of Germanys largest lakes, it would be a pleasure if you follow my dog and me on the trail. Have a wonderful day and thank you for inspiring, Mario (your new subscriber)
Atenção. Pode ser muito interessante e bonito mas é igualmente perigoso. Há muitos acidentes e há turistas que se perdem ou até morrem por aqui. Cuidado.
