I had to watch this one again after seeing your newest one. This would make a great frame around a Navajo Code Talkers photo! Mahalo nui loa for all your creativity and dedication to sharing this beautiful craft of Aloha!
Thank you.. I learned to make this lei from the same book, that I made the graduation lei for my son long time ago... 😍 thank you for always supporting me... 🌼🌸😍
I appreciate the video tutorial. Just a note for viewers: I have the same book and the instructions say 10yds not 5yds. So far I’ve completed 3.5 yds and it makes 15” of lei. The book says 10yds of ribbon will make 40” lei. Just a FYI for those making the lei using the videos instructions.
Big Mahalo for showing how to use more than one ribbon. I know how to make with one ribbon but if I wanted more than one color I used 2-inch cut pieces. Couldn't understand instructions in 2 books I have. Also tried to learn from the lei maker Tracy @ U'i Mau a Mau, Oahu, but I didn't pay too much attention cause I was caught up talking stories with aunties at the store. ;)
Mahalo nui loa!!! I’ve always wanted to learn how to make a twisting lei. Your tutorial is very helpful. I’m going to try my hands at this and if I can replicate your lovely work, then I can make a lei for my dad’s retirement. He retires at the end of this month 😱
I found it in the book that I put in the description. But you can make it yourself. Just with ruler and mark it every 1.5". I don't really use the other grid, but maybe I can use it for my video ua-cam.com/video/4XggP7e5Rm4/v-deo.html If I want to cut ribbons, usually I use a little piece of cardboard and roll the ribbon, and cut it. It's faster like this compare to use the grid. Thank you dear for watching 🌸🌼.
@@julietoatelegese5390 I don't use special needle. I use regular needle the brand is Dritz size 1/5. You can watch my video 'how to get started..' It shows the needle and the thread that I choose. I like to use regular needle, because sometime I use small beads, so the needle can go through small beads. I never make this kind of lei with grosgrain ribbon, but maybe it'll look good. I like to combine textures also. I love making graduation leis with grosgrain, but never try this one with grosgrain. If you have instagram, please look at my instagram @momslittlethings. Thank you so much. 🌸🌼
For 5 yards ribbons, usually you can get at Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics. Walmart has good selections, too. Please watch my video how to connect 2 ribbons. It's ok to combine 2 ribbons, too. Nobody will notice 😉. ua-cam.com/video/Q85P6C4fdGM/v-deo.html

@@momslittlethings8910 Retirement is like a graduation, right?? Haha! Thank you, I’ll buy some ribbons and start soon.
Can you make this lei with two ribbons instead of 3? will it still come out correctly ?
This is beautiful! Where did you find your marking grid and what are the other grids for? Thank you!

@@momslittlethings8910 did you use a special needle and thread to make the lei and do you only make it with satin? Have you tried grosgrain?

Love the video and am thinking of making one of these! What’s the diameter of the finished product?
For this lei using 5/8” ribbons, the diameter is about 1.5”. I hope this help. Thank you for watching😘🌸
@@momslittlethings8910 Thank you!!
Your leis are all so beautiful! Where do you get your ribbon? I can only find shorter lengths, not 5 yards. Thank you!
