- Another uncorking of a whisky I bought at the recent National Whisky Festival in Glasgow, this one stood out for me on the day and on price point too and I had to pick it up. Let’s hope it has the same affect it did on the day. Enjoy and subscribe for weekly content but as always,
Let’s talk whisky
Port Askaig good whisky )Good review . like.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kevin.
Have yet to try this Port Askaig expression. Love the expressions I've tried so far.
Slàinte mhath
I’m having a dram of this right now. Quality Caol Ila juice, young and straight forward.
Enjoyed hearing about this one Kevin. Haven't heard much about Port Askaig but this type of peated whisky that is softer and has that lemony flavor, is to my liking 👍. Cheers and hope that has your throat feeling better 🙏
It’s a really great dram and it’s opened up really nicely too a great price point for an aged expression that ticks all the boxes. I’m running a bit low on energy at the moment my tickly cough has became a flu, cold or maybe Covid so I’m trying to battle through. Slainte buddy 🥃
@@Letstalkwhisky Cathy is battling something like that right now too - hang in there buddy and hope you turn the corner 🙏
Great review Kevin, hope you are feeling better soon!
Hi Kev, I have the Port Askaig 110 Proof in the cabinet (unopened) and sampled the Elements of Islay Cask Edit at a bar with Drew a few months back; it was really good.
BTW: Retired from the Fitness Center on Sunday, sadly one of my going away presents was COVID, so no whisky for a little bit. Hope your scratchy throat is only that.
Hey buddy, the port Askaig is great liquid from all the ones I’ve tried before and I do enjoy the elements of islay as well. That’s not good about Covid and I hope it’s a speedy recovery for you so you can enjoy some rest from finally finishing up work… my scratchy throat has turned into not being able to smell or no appetite so I fear I may have a bug, flu or even Covid sgain. Get well soon 🥃
I think you gave me the encouragement I needed on this one! Thanks 👍
A fine dram. I prefer it to Lagavulin 8, for me the Port Askaig has a bit more interest. Slainte!
Nice glass from the festival. Sounds like a good dram, I will need to give it a try. How does the swg3 festival compare to hampden ?
Hampden for sure is the big one and has a lot more whisky on offer. SWG3 is a good venue and did still have a load of whisky just not to the level of Hampden. And I think Hampden has a lot more special whisky tucked away too. Was a great day and a bottle purchased as well.
