I have a 10 pack with the case of both lighting S4 uplights and about two months after using them I had one lights battery supply go bad on me and both lighting sent me out a new one to replace it within asap and it arrived in two weeks I had to replace it myself, they sent me a video showing how someone does it and now it’s working great. Good customer service.
We bought ChauvetDJ lights recently. Talk about failure rates...1 of 4 Freedom Par Quad 4's failed after 1 year, and 1 of 5 EZpar 64's failed after roughly 2 years of use. Both had battery issues, and both were out of warranty. And repair estimates were obscene. We now just put those near an outlet and plug them in. In the future, I will look into Both Lighting for our needs. Thanks for the review mate!
I use the rockville rockwedges. A china brand sold from new york. Customer service is awesome. Battery life is superb. I have 16 and zero issues after 2 years. Worth a look
FYI - Both lighting has a Los Angeles Warehouse also, they dont have everything there, but what they do sell is about $300 less than buying from China & they arrive a lot faster.... I ordered some uplights that were detained by US Customs & held there for a little over a month, a week later I bought some movers from the LA warehouse & they arrived in 2 days
The uplights do not arrive faster unfortunately. I am a US dealer for them. The uplights have so much demand that we presell the US cases before the are in stock in at the warehouse. So normally it takes 2 months to get them this way. Its way faster to go direct from the factory but cost more.
Literally ALL DJ Lighting effects, and Par Lights are made in China. The Chauvet, ADJ you would think has better quality control, but my experience is that their lights generally have cheap internal parts on the inside of the light. Most of my ADJ lights purchased in the last 10 years all lasted between 12 months and 4 years long before failure. My longest lasting ADJ LED light was the ADJ Vertigo HEX. $99.99 light. I got like 6 years out of the light. My longest lasting Chauvet LED light is an old Chauvet LX10. I bought it in 2010, and it still works today. Just a cheap $69 basic scanner.
As always you solidly deliver a very informative review. You are my #1 go to person for information about products and highly respected. As you mentioned my hesitancy is not having a person to help you with any issues you may have and even if so most distributors don’t speak English. I have tried my luck with less expensive items as a workaround but never felt comfortable enough with lighting until this review. Hopefully other good companies will get wind of this and send you products to review as well. Nice to have other options and good pricing for things that you need but don’t want to break the bank. Cheers from New York. Dj AKB😎
These uplights are awesome, but I made a few adjustments: 1. Removed the handle, because it is always getting in the way when the fixture is turned upside down for charging in the flightcase 2. I rotated the lenscap 180 degrees, so the flashing wifi light is facing the wall 3. Shortned the powercables, so I can always leave them plugged in, storing the lights upside down plugged in after a gig makes it easy to charge them without even opening the case.
I have the 10 light case, I took the casters off and took a cheap aluminum retractable dolly and fixxed it to the case, I can roll it into my trailer and do not have to lift it. That said, I have bought mine from Brotherlights, before I learned of bothlighting, the handles are not smooth like these (major upgrade) and one of my lights stopped charging but I've had them for 4 years and they still last me 2-5 gigs on a single charge. we run wireless DMX from soundswitch and they are true performers. Also I paid $1280 shipped from china, took 3 weeks and they have our company logo on them.
Solid review for sure! Been watching Rick (and you) for years and have to say was very tempted to buy Both. But I had been renting Chauvet Freedom Par Hexes for a long time and simply could not resist their high quality. Cost me an arm and a leg but they do pay dividends as a mobile DJ when you’re selling the service constantly. Ultimately it was a reliable investment. I do have to say the one detail that tipped me towards Chauvet was all the stories of Chinese uplights catching fire. I simply could not allow myself to take that risk in my new home, understandably. But it’s reassuring to see certain companies like Both commit to stepping up quality assurance to provide higher quality and reliability. Great video!
Just a few days out from getting 10 S4 lights/case from Both. Ordered Mid Feb, was supposed to ship from LA warehouse in early March, now will be at the 'NJ warehouse' tomorrow (Mar 24). No issues with the company so far, easy correspondence and transaction. Looking forward to getting hands on. If they work, I'll be getting 10 more.
I got 6 china movingheads that I connect to my ipad to make scenes and i think that the ones i have is doing the job great and i find them very useful. I am thinking about upgrading to higher quality units some day but i have no problems with the ones i have now. Nice bright and motorized
Excellent review. Glad I saw this. I have both premium and Chinese lights. I gambled and bought spider moving lights and had no issues but after a few months I did have something go wrong but support helped and even shipped a part for free. It is a gamble but I'd say my experience was great and thus video tells me there are many more that work. I'll be buying more for sure. Hopefully someone or me lol can make a video on which sellers on AliExpress to go for or avoid to help others . 👍👍
Thank you so much for this video. I was already almost "over the fence" to buy the BOTH LIGHTING S6, and your video convinced me to make the jump down to the other side of the fence LOL I have been using VividLite Shadowboxes for my uplighting the last 5 years and although they are great, it's just time to sell them, and switch it up to something different, because hey, what DJ doesn't want new toys? haha But I knew that it must be something that can be controlled by an app, because that's how I've been controlling my Shadowboxes. I didn't want to take a step back. So going with the S6 is a no brainer and your review of them was all the convincing I needed. Thanks, bro!
good stuff TipTop Lighting is also a very good price to quality ratio in my experience i have 2 cases of battery uplights and 8 other of their normal wired LED lights
I’ve heard good things about Rockville but they’re one of those brands which only seem to sell in one territory, so we never see them here in Europe, sadly.
@@Mojaxx oh no. I wonder if you could contact the company to see of there are other delivery options. If not, Both seems like another great company. I'm definitely going to try them also after watching this and seeing how similar they are to Rockville.
Great lights but be careful with a bulb going out or not being able to present a certain color (in my case blue) but will say company will send replacement light board which is easy to replace. Only downside at the time it’s $50 to ship replacement and I’ve got 10 so imaging if all have that issue. *** My lights are from both lighting *** Other than that issue they’ve been a workhorse.
Great review, I'm just curious to know, what would you charge for a Gig? Factoring in cost of equipment it would be interesting to know, and what type of gigs do you usually do? Again, thanks for the review!
I ordered a app controled lazer show thing for about 100$, and they sent me like a 2nd hand christmas gobo thing, that I bet I could pick up for about 5-10$. It had an option for EU plug on the page, so I ordered that one, but got it with some random plug I have never seen before. I still use it at my shows out of spite, because they did some exploit that made it impossible for me to get a refund. The 2$ LED globe and the 5$ strobe does a better job in my opinion, but you can judge for yourself by watching my liveset on my channel.

I brought the S6 IP lights. I'm having issue with the runtime on solid colors and color mixing barely gettin 4hrs. Have you guys had this issue and whats the work around?
no need for 6 or 4 or even 2 led’s in an up light. my Chauvet h1’s have a single hex lef and it’s all you need for an up light. if rather have 4 of those spread out than one single 4 led unit with only half the light on the wall. and i can carry 20 h1’s in their cases with two in each hand. if you’re mobile weight and size trumps a small increase in performance that no one will notice.

Rotating the top is a genius move!
After reading this comment, I went and rotated all 20 of my lens caps. This is next level thinking. Idk why they don’t come from the factory that way.
you’re not afraid of fire from charging with case closed?
@@MrCalebgrayson I always charge with the case open, myself. Would do the same with any lights. Better safe than sorry IMO!

Nope. Feel free to check the website of its creator, Neutrik, to confirm. That’s one of the reasons they later released Powercon True 1.
