This is still my go-to song a year later and always brings me back my inner peace. Your original work and your covers are exceptional, and you deserve so many more views & subscribers. I hope you make more in the future.
This remix is fantastic, and holds up just as well as the original. The vibe I get from this one is that time is fleeting, and once the drum beat kicks in it is saying "but it's not over *just* yet. Go out and achieve your goals" Thank you for this remix 🙏
I recorded this cover in a single day as part of my project titled "Zentronics I-IV," where I would create and complete a song from scratch each day. Over the course of approximately 50 days, I ended up with 50 tracks, with most of them being original compositions. During those recording sessions, I decided to cover "Xtal" among a few other tracks. For the main synth part, I performed it live using a Prophet Rev 2 synthesizer and recorded it directly to tape. My intention was to replicate the classic pad sound of the Yamaha CS80, and you can notice the sound evolving throughout the song. Perfecting the vocal sample took the most time and effort. I utilized an old recording of my friend's voice. Xtal has so much reverb and degradation that it makes it difficult to hear where the notes are being played. Therefore, my vox melody slightly differs from the original. My objective was to create a version that is as enjoyable and as inspired as the original version, at least for myself. Initially, I didn't have the intention of sharing it, but I believe it turned out half decent.

Xtal is far and away my favorite Aphex Twin track, and this interpretation of it is amazing!
Found this relaxing and helpful to cope with my depression, it’s songs like these that make me feel alright 🖤

Yo...when those drums came in...
That was an outstanding cover bro. You really knocked it out of the park. Almost on-par with original. I'm not being hyperbolic. Good job. Subscribed.
What was the process of covering this track, and what did you have to use to make it?

Is there an actual physical vinyl of this? I would love to buy one.
I doubt I’d ever do that unless Richard wants to put out a remix thing.
This is great man.
