One of the coolest looking games ever made. I’m so glad this exists. Don’t own a PC or laptop at the moment but just knowing this thing was created and released is fucking awesome.
180degree fov is phenomenal And the mechanic that you can see behind you is neat.. Im still scratching my head how in the world the fps genre hasnt thought of it.... The last time i saw a working 180/360 fov is from quake the Panini fov mod A really god tier upgrade to the awesome devil daggers
@@jhaller90 The game uses spherical projection instead of linear, so fovs are highly flexible & allowed to go past 180 but higher numbers reduce the screen size; in traditional projection, 180 FOV is a blank screen and 181 is just 1 FOV but upside down.
Awesome game, but I'm struggling quite a bit with it. For some reason I find it really difficult to improve. In DD it was so clear what you had to work on to get better, but the progression path in HD isn't as obvious to me because it feels so chaotic and uncontrolled. I will get the achievement though, no matter how long it takes me.
the way i learned HD was trying to learn all the tricks from replays and messing around. learn a trick, live by it for a few runs, then learn another. not only was that fun, but i noticed that all of the tricks were useful and i found myself progressing through them. if something in a replay confuses you, press "i" to see the inputs. try leaving spiders up (the gem stealers), it makes the game much easier if you just want to survive to the boss and practice killing it. the spiders take up the spawn queue and only 1 enemy at a time will spawn hyprd.mn/run/1408467482

Like, if you grab a big gem and throw it in front of you and dash in it, does that stun the cockroaches you hit? Or, how do you keep lasering while there are spiders on the map? Are the eyes on the hand score-related, leaderboard-related, or something else? Where do the gems you use to laser the final boss come from?
ok so gem dash - if you dash into a big gem, you enter a special state where you automatically dash forward very fast and far. while gem dashing, you can dash vertically, and you can also kill living scuttlers, but ONLY scuttlers that are within the same pack of 3 (so if it's blue, you can gem dash kill it). you can also gem dash by dashing through the top of a spawner. lasering while spiders are up - if you press m2, you can pluck gems from the air while spiders steal them. after plucking one gem, you can pluck additional gems with m1. a lot of the time i'm simply pressing m2 the moment I kill an enemy to grab the rail, and do that repeatedly. the eyes - its representative of your rank basically. wr holder gets 10 eyes, #2 gets 8, etc. boss gems - the first laser came from the spider i killed that triggered the boss spawn. the rest of the lasers come from completing each boss phase. there are 6 "phases" (you can think of it as hp). railing the boss immediately advances to the next phase and drops a gem. you can rail it 6 times really fast but its super hard since rails make it angry. daggers slow it down so I find shotgunning on the 4th phase safer.

CONGRATS that was fucking awesome! today i learned there is some way to do multiple lasers shots in a row. i had no idea until now. do you just hold RMB while tapping LMB to shoot?
the hyper orb spawns above the center of the arena and starts barreling at you after the bone lotus unfolds. shooting it with rails makes it angry, but shooting it with daggers slows it down.
the inputs for shotgun tech work, but it doesn't make you shoot faster. the only purpose it serves is to keep gems from being attracted while you shotgun.
watch replays and learn some tricks. what I did was learn a trick, live by it for a couple runs, and move on to the next trick. for example using all your gems to rail big gems can be really successful. or maybe you use every big gem to gem dash into the sky and do an orbital stomp. if you check my clip page i made a bunch of tutorial clips that show off more advanced tricks.

I personally played DD and it was very difficult for me. I have nothing but praise for people that are able to play it making huge records. But this... This is too psychedelic. In DD I can understand what I am doing, this just too flashy. I admit that some effects are really cool, but for me is just too much.
i can see how its a bit much for some people. especially if you have photosensitivity or motion sickness. i can't help but love it. i've always been into these kind of insane dreamlike visions with strobing lights and violent motion. the visual clarity was my greatest concern at first, but having played it a lot, I think it's pretty clear.

Default for hyperdemon is 120, did he increase to 180?
it's pretty cool. really helps sell the dreamlike atmosphere. something seems... off, but you can't put your finger on it.

Does the shotgun tech for Devil Daggers in your other video work here? It looks like your rate of fire is pretty consistently faster than mine…
