yes! This. This right here. Her attitude is perfect. She's doesn't act like she is better than anyone. She's here to help people learn how to roller skate. I've learned a good chunk of things from her.

Enjoy these vids. Easy, basic directions that are helpful by experienced and upbeat skater with a good attitude, voice, and skills. Very helpful and honest. Uplifting to get encouraging instructions like "just drop body weight" and "down with butt and up with gut." Finesse not violence!

I am with you there. The back-to-front transitions are most challenging.

    Hi Dirty,
I started learning to skate at age 32. I went to weekly classes, and as many sessions as I could. I got my grade 5 in artistic skating after about a year and a half. I then started to get very sick with various health problems. I've not been to my rink in a few months. I'm about ready physically to restart, but my mental health suffered from all the struggles I've had, to the point that I have started meds for anxiety. I have lost a lot of confidence in every area of my life, and lost a lot of fitness. I was loving learning and gaining skills before, and now I feel really intimidated by going back to classes. I'm afraid of the disappointment if I can't do much of anything. I'm afraid one of my health problems will get triggered by the activity again. I don't have skate friends that I can bring with me and I would feel like a burden asking them to travel the 40+ miles there and back just to babysit me. I feel a weird shame around having fallen behind in my progress and having to start relearning things and regaining fitness and balance, and the journey feels daunting despite having done it twice a week for months. Have you or has anyone you know dealt with something like this? What helped to overcome the challenges of returning to skating after dealing with a bunch of difficulties and losing a lot of confidence?

These days, everything feels overwhelming and a test of our will. I think reframing your current situation may help. The actual physical movement of skating is therapeutic. See skating as a journey to overall well-being as opposed to something that is judged by the past or something that must be mastered. You have previously reached level 5, which means you know how to do this both physically and mentally. Now, you need to connect to it emotionally. Skating is the way. Try not to put too many roadblocks in your way. Good luck to you my skater friend.

Yay it finally happened I got my bearing out of my old pink wheels and got them in my new yellow ones. I used the axle as a tool by putting the wheel on backwards. Now I can send my old wheels to Davie Jones lockbox.

I think I'm doing the backward skating a little better. I wonder is it dangerous to try to skate downhill backwards.

I have entire videos on skating backward downhill. It is the safest way to go.

Would you happen to know good brands of skates for children? I have ages 1 -10 and things I should be looking for in a good child's skate? Also would I need to buy outdoor wheels( that light up) if I want my children to be able to skate outside and indoors?

A quick google search for Sure Grip Fame Kids Skates will get you what you need. Do not stress too much. Kids grow out of them so quickly. They do not need the performance from the skate that we do. Sure Grip Rock Star, Sure Grip Sugar and Spice are good ones.
