Mind blowing that Em wrote Dre’s verses on this. 🤯 And Dre was talking about the new label he started that began the dominance of Dre and Em in the early 2000’s. Hit after hit. Classics.

As a 45 year old who still has all the lyrics of the entire album memorized it somehow still never fails to surprise me that there are grown folk in the world now that haven't heard these tracks.
I mean I understand it when I think about it, but there is a deeper part of my subconscious that refuses to not be surprised each time. 😆

@@MW-cx3sb It honestly is just a matter of region of the south I was raised in combined with being born nearly five decades ago. Lol
For me they are fairly interchangeable, but mostly "y'all" gets used in most situations. Especially when denoting three or more people at a time.
While "folk" mostly gets used in conjunction with other descriptives such as "grown", "old", "young", "lazy", "crazy", etc.
It isn't really a conscious effort either way as to which gets used per situation. Mostly just decades of habit from established speech patterns I picked up from my grandpa and others I was raised near the most.
Honestly though I agree with you and prefer "y'all" as well when consciously thinking on it. 😆
Have a great day, and I hope that helped answer your questions to some degree. 😁

When he talks about getting his label off he is talking about having to leave Death Row without any credit and starting the Aftermath label. When he talks about them not bumping him in his last CD he is talking about his first Aftermath CD, which I think is underrated. He did a fire redo of David Bowie's Fame.

Dre left Death Row with nothing to get away from Suge’s nonsense and started Aftermath. He wasn’t having much success with his new label until he signed Eminem though. He was actually in danger of being dropped and going under after the first few releases on the label didn’t do well.

NWA are *THE* OG's in rap. Dre is reason they were a success in the first place. He's the one that made Snoop a star. He made Ice Cube a star. He made Eminem a star. He made Fugees stars. If it weren't for Dr. Dre half of 90's hip hop never would've happened.
But Dre only released two solo albums so some people forget everything he's done hip hop. The label he was getting off at the time was Aftermath Records. I urge you to look it up. You'll find at least half of the REALLY good rappers from the last 30 years on that label.

I'm not even tryin to glaze em but em brought dre's career back. after he left deathrow he started aftermath up and he did an album with nas called the firm and it flopped even though it was lowkey hard. dre just wasnt really buzzin and then he signed em and he got huge. then dre dropped the 2001 album and em wrote a few records on there (not saying em is the reason that album is great but he did his part) and then 3 years later they sign 50 and went 50/50 on it ironically but em was the one who wanted to do it. without em dre would still be sucessful but just not the billionaire he is today.
