      I mean, bag man is 2m meters high, with cybernetic implants (Just look at his arms, the skin looks to be made of synthetic skin plates bolted together ), in any other game he would be THE guy.

      @@chrip8614in scav terms, he is. In terms of everyone else on the battlefield that isn’t a scav he isn’t anything special. So the whole “not that guy” thing still applies imo.

    Medium mechs are easy to kill with grenades, 14-20 of them, I do it all the time with the M79 grenade launcher pistol.
    What you CAN"T kill, Mother Courage, Toothy, Hostile the Hulk (the bulky guy whos name is Hostile when you mark him, and Grabber the Dog. Everything else dies in 20 grenades or less.

      You can kill Mother courage if you don’t run out of ammunition first, you need to deal a combined total of 1 billion damage that is combined with anything else hitting it, same with toothy

      @@ambershangout7226 if there would be any hint to see them spawn you could try with the Big Rack and 8x Turrets.
      Ok nvm, just calculated. Not exact numbers, i think 1 Turret has 500 Rounds and might do 150dmg, so if you take 8 turrets, the combined dmg output will be 6000k (500*150*8)

      @@ambershangout7226 well yes, but there's not always someone else to hurt the mother and I think it would take forever for a mech to do 1000000000 dmg to them.
      It also would be impossible to make the finishing shot since you have not indicator of how much she is hurt.

    Europan med mech is killable. Takes 15 grenades I believe, and grants 6k xp

      Never tried with grenades but I've seen them die fighting other mechs a few times.

    the units that seem "unkillable" have 1 billion hp, confirmed from a mod in TFW discord, shared part of the games coding which displayed their hp to be massive

      Actually they are going the other way many of these thing will be impossible without a group of players and a good plan. They will only reinforce that you are not that guy.

    The only Unkillable enemies are Mother Courage, Toothy Mech, and the Grabber. This Vid is just wrong.

      More she has 1 billion health so do the mega mechs and the medium ones with the massive guns
      That said people have claimed they have killed them after enemy factions have done enough damage to them, but this is a lie as mother courage and certain mechs won't engage eachother at all.
      That said fundog has said these enemies are unkillable CURRENTLY meaning they'll make them killable in the future but they have a long ways to go currently were like alpha 3 stage right now like the game was a concept 1 year ago and here we are so they've come along ways bit the journeys gonna be just as long 😊

    An easy way to know is if they have a hunt or gather components quest. If they do, they are possible to take down.

    Frankly, I can perfectly understand that you can't kill certain units - or at the very least, that you should only be able to kill them with weapons or items that work different than 'normal' guns. It's unrealistic that you can kill a tank, even with 40mm or 20mm, but if you had something like a single-use anti tank weapon, a shaped charge or something - that'd be something different. Should be something you've got to work for, something you need to plan differently than just 'let's bring big pewpew and tons of ammo'.

    You can kill the melee mechs with enough bullets. Killed one mag dumping 90 rounds from a rpk. Maybe they just have a headshot weakpoint or something.

    You actually can kill the medium mechs. They’re just really difficult to take down. They drop some of the best loot in the game too

    Yeah once I found out the magical powers of the "pack mule" backpack, 40mm and "painless" and it's ability to permit seemingly infinite DPS, I quickly realized I may not have been "that guy", but I was sure as shit going to make a mess until "that guy" showed up to do something about it.

    The game isn't even close to where fundog wanted it to be for early access, and they explained that loads of times. They felt they could release it after immense pressure from the community, and that's ok. I'm positive everything will be killable soon, and my guess is the invincible enemies don't have a defined loot pool yet, since most other enemies have specific unit based loot on them. Once they figure out what specific loot the mechs, goth mommy, and dogs can have on them, they'll be killable and loot able.

    You can kill medium mechs with the grenade launcher. However, they don't seem to have a proper death animation and it takes an inordinate amount of grenades.

    I’ve seen someone on UA-cam destroy mechs with 20+ grenades. They cheesed them in Mech Trenches

    Heavier more armored enemies should require more heavy duty weapons to kill. Grenades might not kill a heavy mech but a AT missle or three should. But after that well now you were an irrelevant or an annoyance at worst before but NOW you just shot up on the to kill list because now you poked the hornets nest and need to run away before you get overun.

    I'd much rather have anything larger than heavy infantry/tanks/copters unkillable, or create special conditionals where things larger than that can be killed. We simply don't have the armor penetration even with the AM rifle or grenade launcher for taking out a medium mech, and that's okay.

      I've been hearing there may be a health pool on some of these enemies, like 1 billion hit points. They'll likely make some of these enemies killable in the future.

    I can't confirm for the eruskan medium mechs, the the Europan ones can be killed, it even tells you on your hud if one dies while you in the game.

    I honestly think that the tanks shouldn't be killable, since you don't really have any AT weapons available, GLs damage the tank parts, but don't do meaningful damage, only AT mines, rockets and missiles could do that damage, the exos ok, but most of the armored mechs shouldn't be even damaged by the weapons we have available.
    I think we should be able to get AT stuff? Definitely, at least an RPG, but still shouldn't be able do do any meaningful damage to medium+ mechs.

      I think it should require more cunning - like, a focus on actual weak points rather than magic damage types that beat resistances. In the case of mechs, it should be a matter of finding gaps in the armour... in the case of tanks, it should require mines and other assorted traps/sabotage, making use of their limited vision.
      To put it another way, I'd be disappointed if it was just "equip the right pewpew"; I'd rather that it was more in keeping with the concept and be a question of using just the right technique, coupled with some specialist modified gear.

      They do drop but the loot has a tendency to go flying off in a random direction. I was looting once when I heard an explosion and I noticed a medium sized box drop from the sky. It was labeled "Mech Salvage" or something like that. I opened it and it was mech parts. I sold them for a nice sum.

    They need to have their AI and move sets worked on heavily - it should be that they're not just killable, but that they don't even rely on massive health bars; given that they represent a massive arms race, trying to fight a mech should be like starting a boss fight with multiple stages in Dark Souls.

    It's so strange to me that tanks are destructible when really the whole concept of a tank is what this game is built around, they're the biggest, loudest, toughest and the most powerful direct-fire weapons of anything on land. MBTs are made to be neigh indestructible to anything but an anti-tank weapon or another tank. On the battlefield MBTs are the top of the ground-based food chain (so to speak) and their presence is extremely intimidating, but here's the important part, an MBT isn't going to pay much attention to a lone person wandering around, this is an apex predator that's far more concerned about dealing with it's peers and near-peers, to a tank you simply don't matter. That's what this game is about, scavenging the battlefield while military forces hopefully ignore you and trying to stay out of the way of their battles, so for the purposes of this game an MBT should be an unstoppable force that is a danger to the player, not because it might attack the player, but rather because it's so big fast and destructive and it simply doesn't care if you get in the way. You're not a speed bump, you can't block its line of fire, if the blast from the cannon firing hurts you that's your fault for being in the way, if you're in a building and a tank decides the shortest path to where it's going is through that building, well too bad for you.

      Great points! The tanks truly do ignore players right now, so it would make sense if you couldn't do damage or draw agro, at least without the aid of a heavy weapon.

      Not sure I agree with this general assessment. If we look at real-world situations, to a tank... a lone person on foot can be a massive, massive threat if you lose track of them. Because all it takes is an explosive planted in a weak spot, and the trade-off for tank armour is low visibility.
      Hell, right now in modern-day conflicts, turns out tanks are already increasingly obsolete - all it takes is a drone strapped with explosives.
      Meanwhile in The Forever Winter, you see tank turrets stuck in the ground like skulls on spikes, presumably left by mech pilots making a point. And given the terrain - how much of the landscape is really irregular and covered with things that easily exceed traditional tank traps in terms of effectively blocking a tank's progress - just about every other vehicle is superior.
      Put simply, I don't think they're actually the biggest, loudest and toughest. In both the game and in reality, they're actually increasingly obsolete.

      @@NicholasBrakespear You're right but I also think the same powerful motors and light power source that makes mechs possible should make super heavy tanks possible, think WH40k Baneblade, and even if someone with a shape charge can potentially damage a tank looking out for infantry isn't the tank's job. Mainly what I'm talking about is what this game is trying to achieve, that sense of being caught up in somebody else's war, of being the rat who has to scavenge and hide, and in that regard the tank fills the role of "big thing that doesn't care about you and could easily kill you by accident" perfectly. At very least if not the tanks there should be some enemy type that fills this role, that's too big and too focused on other threats to notice you, even if you shoot at it, just to underline the point that you're not the one deciding the outcome of this battle.

      @@cognisant307 Totally with you on super heavy tanks - I love the look of that giant carrier mega-tank thing already in the game, would love to see more of that.
      One of my favourite things in the Terminator franchise is those big tank ones, the shots of them rolling along, crushing skulls...
      But yeah I get you. I think maybe what it really calls for, to convey that sense of tanks being unstoppable and not really caring about you, is to change their AI and pathing; they should make a heavy rumble, that famous squeal, and they should be more like... an occasional stampede at times. Like you're picking through the ruins, and you hear the squeal, and one or two of them suddenly come calmly rumbling through the scenery, breaking down walls, opening up potential new routes but also being a major hazard.
      I mean you could make them a bit like the giant burrowing Dune-copying worm creatures you get in some games - not really aware of you, but will casually flatten you as they create a new path across the landscape.
      In general, I think maybe they need more half-scripted sequences like that, a bit like the grimdark version of random environmental hazards. In another game, it'd be a storm - in this game? It's a stampede of tanks on their way to the other side of the map, taking the line of least resistance and ploughing through anything in their path.

    I think every enemy should be killable but doing so should just be not worth doing for the stronger enemies. You should chew through all of your ammo to kill them and when you finally do, the reward should be underwhelming and every enemy on the map should be on their way to get you.
    That would stay in the spirit of “it’s better to be smarter than stronger”, while also giving players an endgame option if they feel so inclined to wrestle with the big boys.

      ​@@Verrin_the_Wyvern no, because these are old tanks and that would divert resources from Mech development. And even if they did upgrade them, which it doesn't look like any faction has (besides the one with dead bodies on it), mechs can be upgraded that much further.
      But I'm not a developer of the game. That seems to be the reason to me. Not all of the factions have access to drones, but they all have mechs. Tanks are supposed to be the "old outdated surplus tech" in this game.

      @@mRahman92 But why invest in mechs when tanks are far better in every way. Treads are much faster and stronger than legs (easier to roll heavy loads along and uses less motions to be able to move a greater distance, which also allows treads to start moving faster to improve reaction speeds) (if you don't know, modern MBTs with our current engine tech can move 40 mph on-road and 30 mph offroad) and have a significantly smaller profile than legs (sure a mech can crouch but its profile is still bigger and now it's even slower, also treads are much easier to armor than legs without restricting movement). Because of the larger weight capacity and lack of arms taking up a lot of volume (where the skeleton goes through the chassis to keep it connected to a mech's torso), there is a lot more room to put extra equipment such as rocket engines, shield generators, larger power source, ammunition, bigger guns, more armor (without arms or legs needing uninterrupted movement which would prevent a mech from equiping ERA all over its body) or allowing weapons to be reloaded safely from inside the tank. As mentioned before, treads as well as horizontal orientation give tanks a much smaller profile, making them harder to hit, able to use smaller cover than mechs, and stealthier (can't see them over buildings to shoot a rocket at them); all this for more armor than a mech can have.

    I just found new enemy called Euraskan OrgaMech, seems to be unkillable or at least have more HP than 20 sawed off GL and 200 7.62 from RPK can do damage.

    Stealing this coment form another vid but .From what I understood, the Mech aren’t per se unkillable, just the scav doesn’t have the fire power to kill them because they have 1B health. That is the HP for Mother courage at least. There are some players saying they killed them, but what i think happened is just they had a fight with another mech, won but got damaged a lot so they were low. (About the information, A dev said that on discord. Saw the screenshot on a video but can’t remember which one apart that the youtuber was trying to kill one)

    The grabber snatched almost made me quit the game . I Hate plot armour when it’s not used in the right way . If it can’t be killed how is this war not won yet makes no sense and a big turn off

    I was able to kill a nedium mech with about a dozen grenades from a grenade launcher. They're not unkillable.

    saw some discord picture from a mod, not sure how true it is > heli 7gl, exo 7gl, medium mech 16-20gl, corpse tank 20gl, stalker dog - 95 gl shots, toothy 140, ogramech 140 mommy 240, they just give the big guys a bajilion health, i do wish the doggo was killable because he is quite small

    I feel every enemy should be killable or at least "Killable"
    Its just the noise it would make doing so makes it a last resort.
    Disable the toothy gun? More infantry to support.
    Knock out a doggos legs? 2 doggos.
    Down a dommy? Zombie swarm.
    The argument that the devs dont want you to be that guy is countered by the timed extracts summoning enemies to kill.
    But what they said early on was the battle would escalate and change. I assume the player, if thet are deemed a dangerous enough threat, would have HKs sent after them. Not if they pick up the wrong toaster...

      ​@@TherealTenmanI If you load into the section that isn't "cemetery" and isn't the +++faction rating one, I'm spacing on the name, there is a timed extraction. So there is inherently some choice by going cemetery or not.

    I honestly dont wanna be that guy. I feel like it would away a lot of the games atmosphere. Sure make things like stalker and orgamech killable. But medium mechs would just feel wrong. Their whole purpose are to be seen as things outside of your scope of defeating them.

      I think it would be better if it was done as something that required alot of planning and prep. Like you need big guns what not, but you need to narrowly lead it somewhere substantial damage could be done to "expose" its weak spot. Maybe have to do alot of quests building up into it, take a keycard into a map to access a certain room, kill a mini boss in that room to get a launch code, and then take that to where the weapon is, activate it and defend it, then finish off the mech for a trophy that stays in your hideout even if you wipe. I dont think there should be a money incentive, because this is again a super strong enemy that will destroy you. It in my opinion should be for all intents and purposes a waste of time and money. Alot of time and alot of money for a shitty "I wasted 20 hours of prep time and all i got was this stupid poster" thing

    They have stated many times that many of what we can kill now were not meant to able without a group. I know there cope that itll become the fps shooter some want but you are mistaken these enemies are all going to get harder to kill and more deadly when they fight back.

    I think some enemies like Goth mommy should stay Invincible. Otherwise you'll get to a point where you're dominating the map and the stealth aspect becomes irrelevant

      I could see this working! But they would need to up the difficulty. Personally, I'd much rather see a punishment, like a star rating system in GTA 5 then an "invulnerable" mechanic (I.e., or that is a health pool that's large enough to be equivalent).

    So... you can't kill most of the higher tier enemies in the game yourself, like, literally just can't kill them.
    Why am I gathering loot and leveling up my character then?
    Also it doesn't matter if you sit around and wait for any of these things to die. They drop fuck all loot.

      You raise a good point. What's the end goal here? I see two paths:
      1.) Make the game tougher, so building your character just helps you survive. Right now, it’s easy at endgame but still tough for some players.
      2.) Keep things as they are, but add more power at the endgame, letting players take on bigger threats and become “That Guy."

      @@ForeverIRK I would rather they go a path of adding more kinds of loot. Things like armor, even if we can only loot broken armor with limited use that we can't repair. Use a lore reason that it takes very specialized equipment to repair armor, but we can still use scraps.
      Going forward, we just need more things to aspire to. We don't need to be able to fight everything, but we need a goal beyond survive. I can survive by just not playing the game.
