My name is Hammo and I stream on Twitch! I play a variety of "map games" and strategy games, but my favourite game by far is Hearts of Iron IV.
I love this game and it's complexity, strategy and historical focus, but these are also reasons people can find it hard to get into Hoi4. The endless spreadsheets, statistics, buffs and debuffs can be overwhelming without someone to show you the ropes, which is where this channel comes in!
I will be creating and posting beginners guides, tutorials, walkthroughs, tips and tricks videos, just about everything I can to get you playing and enjoying Hearts of Iron IV as much as I do!

Breakthrough is Defence while attacking. It dictates your division DAMAGE intake. If enemy has more piercing than your armor than you will take damage in percent steps. If your breakthrough is very high lets say 1 and a half than enemy soft/hard attack then you will spend half of the credits for nothing. You only need 10% more than enemy attack and you will take no damage. Learn the stats of the game before you mislead people on wild goose chase...

@@hammotimee wow, i don't have to learn anything, i just heard in your video multiple times this mistake. Breakthrough=Defense when attacking. I did not create this game, Paradox did and you should ask them why they used this "breakthrough" term to confuse people.

I use medium Tanks with medium howitzers - but in the Tank Roll, not the spg Roll. Thus, having the best possible soft Attack to Combat width Ratio, since you want to maximize soft Attack far above the enemies defense. Just don't Fight enemy Tanks, rather encircle them. You don't need that much breakthrough anyway, you only need more than the enemy has Attack. I use one Bataillon of heavy Tank destroyers to increase Piercing and Armor and one Support anti Air is sufficient to reduce enemy cas damage. Voilà
So basically just the irl 105mm Sherman

it would be cool if you could make a bridge tank that give's you a buff on rough terrain just make the bridge part go in the gun slot and use fixed superstructure on like a medium
Oooh yeah, it would give a bonus across rivers! Engineers and flame tanks do give a bonus already but that would be cool too 😄

What about the combat width? I recognised, after playing for a long time again, that the 20/40 width is not recommended as before.
Is there a rule now?
It's pretty forgiving to be honest! Around 20ish is pretty good, depends how meta you want to be :)

At the moment, they're not really worth it, if you're going to use them, max out the armour :)
heavy tanks are very good the heavy cannon 2 is much better than the early medium cannons

Do you have the No Step Back DLC purchased and active? If not it won't show, it's part of the DLC 😁

for me it only gives me the blueprint for the tank the chassis so if someone could help that would be great
On the tank chassis, you need to click the design button to create a design! Check out early in the video again :)
Whats the difference between hard attack and piercing?
Hard attack. How many attacks made each hour against the hard parts of an enemy division
Piercing. Represents the ability of a division to pierce armor and pin down armored forces, restricting the movement. If the value is higher than the enemy's armor value, then the division suffers no penalty to its damage and suffers no additional organization damage

There is not a meta tank. What is the objective?
Attack? Focus on breaking through. Speed.
Defense? Then defense , armor .
Or even for remake !
Take the old models. And make something with it.
Exemple. Germany has a lot of ww1 old tanks. They can be cheaply transformed into aa or flame tank.
What about any of my channel suggests I play by the meta? My channel is aimed at helping new players get into the game, by teaching them how things work, not through gatekeeping comments like this
