    What’s up Matty? Awesome acrobatic moves brother! Yesterday I picked up a hard tail Polygon Cascade 4 I traded in my old Scott 26er and now have my first 27.5 as a partner for Marlin 7. Can’t wait to get out today and roll 27.5 just to see if that is my true sweet spot as far as bike tires size goes. Have a great day sir. #PedalPower

    I rode apex and enchanted forest/magic mountain on my Polygon D7 last month. I agree with you, it’s a tough one on a short travel bike. Most of the bikes I saw on it were in the 150mm+ range. I still enjoyed it, but was pushing not only the bikes limits but my own as well 😅

    Yep...I'd be switching out the MTB shoes for a pair of Merrels for that trail. 😆
    Glad to see that the Polygon can handle that kind of terrain, though. Well done! 👌
    By the way, did you ever meet up with the owner of the dogs. 😆 The way they were just chilling, looking all comfortable, I thought for sure they were yours until you mentioned otherwise.
    That was hilarious. 😆

    There are people that are doing jumps with loose wheels, and that's not a problem of the bike, the problem it's between the seat and the handlebar 😁😅 Get the torque wrench that I'm sure you don't have, and tight your bike at the specs (in some bolts you could use blue loctite and they are not gonna lose), make sure your transmission is working fine, your fork, your wheels. But if you don't do it, you are gonna have many scary episodes. You got great upgradable bikes, great ride.

  • @MountainDooo01
    @MountainDooo01 2 роки тому +2

    The thing is that polygon is a cross country bike and even if it’s full sus, the trek roscoe 9 is going to perform a lot better in the rough stuff because it’s a full out hardcore trail bike. So that polygon is good but it’s good at maybe the longer rides with a lot of pedaling than the shorter more technical trails

    Always check your bike over before you go for a ride. I always clean my bike if needed after a ride and lube the chain then double check bolts before a ride, it saves you a lot of hassle.

  • @mrvwbug4423

    I love Apex :) But it is not hardtail or short travel friendly. A big travel bike, even a 150ish travel bike will absolutely fly through most of those rock gardens on Apex. You should demo a bigger travel bike on that trail, just to see how those chunky trails can be fun on the right bike. As you like to stay budget, my recommendations for bikes to try would be Ibis Ripmo AF, Specialized Stumpjumper EVO in an alloy build, or the Rocky Mountain Altitude A30 (their entry level build on this bike), or a Commencal Meta AM (go down a frame size on the Commencal, trust me).

    I know you like shorter travel bikes, but that chunky trail seemed rough. My hands hurts watching. I picked the Stumpy EVO over the Stumpy for that very reason. We have chunky trails here in West Oregon, and I wanted some extra squish.

      @@MattyActive I would suggest a Marzocci Bomber Z2, it's a close cousin to the Fox 34 so good for short travel bikes but in the $500 range and is better than RockShox options in that price range.

    Im thinking of buying a polygon 7 frame to upgrade my trek roscoe 7 2020, does it sound like a good idea? Upgrading to full suspension would be nice but im unsure if the parts especially the 27.5 2.8 wheels would fit on it...

    • @TheLeesto
      @TheLeesto 2 роки тому +1

      Roscoe wheels are terrible anyway IMO. Youll roll faster lighter and better over obstacles with narrow 29ers (2.3-2.6 wide).

    • @MattyActive
      @MattyActive  2 роки тому

      I think the wheels would be too wide for the polygon but if you’re wanting to get the frame I would just get the whole bike. I think you would really enjoy it

    • @luisstefan7160
      @luisstefan7160 Рік тому +1

      Thanks. Shame the wheels are too wide as the roscoe already has good parts and buying just a frame would save money on converting to a full sus.

    I feel beat up just from watching that! Your buddy left you in the dust after about 175 feet...I don't understand why some guys just love to fly through trails like that. I'm not judging, but I feel like you kind of miss a lot when you do that. To each their own, I guess! I'm impressed with how quiet that Polygon was on that mess. I recall that has upgraded neck and handlebars, and you swapped out the wheels. I don't recall you saying if the tires helped a lot or not, what did you think?

    • @MattyActive
      @MattyActive  Рік тому

      I wanted to talk more about it but I was too busy trying to survive that trail haha. They definitely made a huge difference but I couldn’t get a good feel because on that trail you have to run higher psi because of the sharp rocks and I have tubes in. So once I go tubeless I’ll be able to really see how they are

    • @MattyActive
      @MattyActive  Рік тому +1

      I only swapped the wheels and stem. Really need to upgrade the handlebars though

    • @mattj6676
      @mattj6676 Рік тому

      @@MattyActive My bad for some reason when you guys put that stem on I thought you put on different bars. Maybe you just talked about the bars you could use. Honestly, I think the stem position is more important to how the bike feels than the bars, but that's just my opinion. That bike really does well considering it's not a really expensive model, it really was quiet going over all that chunk!

    • @mattj6676
      @mattj6676 Рік тому +1

      @@MattyActive no judgement on my part, that trail was ROUGH, and at first at least you were trying to keep up. I think you and I share a common style of riding, fast over chunk isn't it! Your videos are great, Matty, I really enjoy watching them!
