quillen is beset by bosses, nurses, children, rich kids, and lack of sleep, lol. the cast is honestly grossly underutilized in this film, though very good, a better director would have made it truly great. as another comment pointed out, mack seems a bit out of his element doing film comedy, and it shows. that said, some genuine laughs, great 1 liners, superb "running gags", and awesome physical comedy show up, if imperfectly. the upload quality, as usual, is excellent! one4allfour1 has yet to even come close to disappointing me from any perspective, but load quality is ALWAYS exemplary! well worth watching, and thoroughly enjoyable, don't hesitate

I'm an AVID classic movie fan and I've watched & re-watched ( multiple times) a million of them. I'm always on the lookout for more cuz I just can't get enough! I'm old enough (keyword- 'old') to remember when there were only 3 TV networks- ABC, CBS, NBC- on a B&W television set and if there wasn't anything on those channels a person wanted to watch, then they would go find something else to do., but at least watching TV was free for everyone who had a TV. I can still remember that the first color TV I could watch anytime I wanted was when my mom married my stepdad in '71. Unfortunately, I can't afford TV right now, so I rely on my trusty old laptop for TV shows and movies. I am very grateful for people like you, One4allfour1, who put in the time & trouble to share these 'gems' with us. You have my utmost gratitude & appreciation. BTW- I just adore Eddie Quillan movies! Thanx!!

+Hunny Beez I'm right there with you on the 3-channels on our b&w TVs; what a marvel color was! And, we're not able to afford cable right now, either. But we're truly not missing it, at all!
Because soooo many years ago a specific Classic Movie helped me laugh at a time when I was very sick, and wasn't able to sleep, I developed a real curiosity for Classic Movies.
Then, the birth of AMC & TCM came about and these channels were offered for free to our Apartment Complex! What a find :D I gobbled all these movies up and they created a curiosity to read novels and journals from the 1800s through the 1940s. History! I saw that people were truly different in the way they thought, behaved, believed, created, worked...amazing! I wasn't taught (and I didn't have time to research) what I learned about our American History in High School or College!
All these things happened through the years while I was raising a family. "My time" was during naps and after bedtime, when I could read about these different times and people, or watch Classic Movies. My husband loves them, too, so we learned about and enjoyed these great old movies together, which was nice.
I knew in the future I would be able to do something to offer these same great movies, somehow, to others!
Thank you so very much, Hunny Beez, for your appreciation--that means more than you know :)) I will keep digging up these Treasures for you, and look for Eddie Quillan movies to add to my Playlist for you! (He was such a good actor, wasn't he, and pretty adorable :D) Have a wonderful Christmas!

+Hunny Beez @I can't afford TV right now, so I rely on my trusty old laptop for TV shows and movies. You are not missing a single thing. Ever since TV went pay for the garbage is only gotten worse until now it's completely unwatchable because of the vicious assault of stupid useless commercials like lunacy.Watching great films of old on the lappy is BEST!

    • @one4allfour1
      @one4allfour1  8 років тому +3

Joseph Sunday, I totally agree with you! I had occasion to watch a bit of TV last week and frankly the commercials drove me batty. I can't remember there being so many in such a short 30 minute show (which I think are so devoid of intelligent content it scares me for the kids watching, truly). Even a 2 hr. Classic Movie I found had so many commercials I just stopped watching, and turned the TV off.
I feel like we can honestly say about TV, "Let's move along folks, there's nothing to see here..." ;)

+one4allfour1 Here is how you solve it and ignore that madness for good ok? Finance any way that you can (Got mine with Sam's Club) a 65 or 70 inch HDTV and use that as your movie screen to plug in from your laptop with anything to your heart's delight. It Works!

I love these movies. Always a happy ending> And the stories are always so pre-New World Order. This one had a good plot, at times zany, and never a dull moment. I recommend it.

Great film view of our history! These films need to be seen by everyone, especially the youth of today so everyone of them will witness what was going on or being said during our parents/grandparents & greater grandparents youth, it is worth watching to witness their own crazy style because what I'm seeing & hearing is such a gas! The popular lingo of that time period is in itself worth learning or already in circulation! Ive found out quickly that phrases/words/comic repertoire from the 20's & 30's are STILL being expressed verbally from that time to today! I have especially enjoyed the silly stuff my Dad used to say (RIP) alot, in which I didn't really understand (as a child!). I hope my own folks & those before them are giggling! Some of the phrases or words they say 'blow my mind'! It's been the trash talk of today that needs to be stoppped!

    • @one4allfour1

+Suzie Wonder Suzie, you said it ALL!! I completely agree with you in every way. These movies, which I love soooo much, and want to keep alive for many generations to come, are actually links in the chain of my own mind. The phrases, morals, songs, architecture, clothing--I could go on and on, help me to understand my older family members, still with me and those that have passed. And I appreciate them all so much more!
These movies fill in the blanks for me when I try to understand how we got from "A to B" as a Country!
I could go into so much detail concerning why I believe about our society what I do, just by watching these great Classic movies...I believe you have had the same type of Epiphanies ;D
Thank you so much for your thoughts--your time is valuable and it means so much that you'd stop to share your thoughts, Suzie!
Keep watching and sharing my little channel, and I'll keep digging for more Classis for you to watch

How refreshing it is for me to receive a positive & friendly reply! With the political cacophonous of negativity, I was beginning to think our society no longer feels compassion for others or the wondrous feeling from the simplicities of humor & laughter! My father was notorious for his many phrases & lingo from the past. As I view & listen to these films, his spirit comes alive! I'm sure what he has been 'blurting' out (to my ignorance) all these years is not only from his generation but from the prior one as well. It's amazing how much of his humor wasn't really his own original creation, but at the time it was to me! And as I have grown older & he has passed, I'm learning what a lot of his comical bluntness has meant! Now I have a historical reference! I always wondered if he wasn't a little bit on the looney side (which he was in a positive way) because much of his jargon was not understood by many (from my generation, anyway). Now I know he was just repeating the silliness of his era - in his own unique way. I have you & others to thank ...for filling in the pieces of his mysterious humor! He was a wonderful man who kept our family together with his natural ease of humor & positivity. Even though we may not have understood his humorous meanderings, we knew it gave him pleasure & it always made us feel good too! It sure makes me want to love him even more today!! Thank you for your wonderful reply - you made my day!

Russell Mack directed this and a few other films in the early 1930s. He appears to struggle with comedic timing here in spite of a well written script and talented leads. After directing for three studios, Mack was unable to find work in Hollywood after 1934. He moved to the east coast were he managed a theater until his death.
Eddie Quillan was a talented actor in silent films, talkies, and television. His ability as a comedian shines through here and he seems to carry several scenes for Mack.

Such a sweet, charming romantic comedy with great cast. Eddie Quillen is funny. Also was interesting to find out how relatively easy was to adopt a child those days! Nowadays so many Hispanics and black kids in government care and noone really wants them because of so many problems with their biological parents afterwards, so people spend hundreds of thousands dollars sometimes to adopt kids from somewhere else.
