yeessss i’m so glad someone finally said to hold the hoof and not the leg, thats what my trainer has always taught me to do and i see a lot of people on yt not do that!
@@juliecorn8998 well its dangerous, first. You could injure the horse well trying to pick a hoof holding the leg. SECOND, it just makes the process a whole lot more difficult if the hoof is moving around 24/7 because you’re applying pressure to pick stuff out and that pushes the hoof down in a situation like this, why? Because you’re holding it from the leg and not providing any stability or something for the hoof to push against and keep it in place.
" Difficult" horses with hooves grooming require sometimes you to hold the hoof tight. If you took the leg it's definitely too hard, you let it down on the floor, showing to the horse your weakness and you did not cleaned it. If you hold the hoof tightly, your hand like a cup around it, the horse thinks : Ok, I must admit he or she 's the good leader and I must let my hoof cleaned.😁👌🏻🐎💖
That’s actually really helpful! I always have slightly leaned on my horse to get her to shift her weight then I run my hand from her shoulder or hip down to the hoof and most the time she picks her foot up pretty quickly!
The fact that here in Finland in the winter we sometimes need a hammer to carefully break the ice on the hooves and then we can get the dirt under the ice with a hoof pick
I’m taking a horseback riding class and so far we’ve learned how to groom the horses. This is extremely helpful especially since I don’t have a lot of experience with horses.
I always slide my hand down my horse's leg and tap a couple times. He knows what I want to do so this way he can shift the weight himself and then 'give' me his hoof
omg that explains so much! on my horses left side i always start with the front hove obviously but he doesn’t pick it up. so i go to back feet and he lifts it up. then when i go back to the front he lifts it up now finally understanding what im asking from him
My horse is an unbroken fearful rescue...i can only get her to pick up 1 front hoof. The other she cow kicked me, and i wont even go near her back legs lol. Luckily she seems to have strong, unfortunately tatty, hooves
I’m very nervous to pick hoves out again, the last time I did was the first time I’ve been kicked, it was right in the ankle but luckily it didn’t break😅
I did lot of efforts to help one friend one day. You know a horse, one 500kg thoroughbred who doesn't want to lean her shoulder, does not move at all if you try to push on it . In the end, she accepted to give her hoof. I congratulated her but... she was not really willing to clean her hoof. Most of the time, one of the four hooves is a problem for horses in a bad day the whole are a problem, not only for the horse. For the guy who sweat to clean them.😂🤣🤣
Do you have any tips on handling the weight as all the horses I’ve ridden have transferred their weight onto me and as I’m still quite young it can be a lot for me to hold.
Before moving out of Arkansas, I used to volunteer at a therapeutic riding stable for quite some time. Part of my chores were taking care of their feet. I didn’t know about the first tip of shifting their weight. That would have been helpful information, lol. But I did know about the second and third tip. Third tip about picking, I was taught, as I had never worked with horses before. But the second tip of cupping the hoof, was purely instinctual. Why would you not naturally cup the hoof? Seems like any other way would simply be uncomfortable. 🤔🤷🏼♀️😅 (…Man. …I really miss working with the horses and their riders.)
I love your help of these things but when i am cleaning my horses hoof they always start making weird things with theri heads like moving it too close to me and then they start like hitting me with their heads so can you help with that like they don't hit me with their head😢🏇
another thing: don't let the horse lean on you. did that mistake and got throughoutly scolded. for a good reason, because, well, the horse is much heavier than you. and even if it leans just a bit, if you suddenly move away, it could fall
I was taught to do this if they caught us doing it wrong we would have to scoop out a stall (I moved barns because my trainer was abusive to the horses)
I was cleaning the horse named Nemo and it went all good but when I let go and put it down, my foot was like under where he put his, so he steped on my foot it hurt but nothing serious, I said his name and pushed at his leg and he moved, I’m ok
No. Not at all. The horse’s hoof (the part she is cleaning) has absolutely no muscle or veins so they don’t feel it at all, an example is when you are trimming your nails, you don’t feel anything at all as long as you don’t cut your skin which in the horse’s hoof is the frog, which is the darker middle part that she is not cleaning. Hope it helps!
anybody notice the horse in the background screaming bloody murder? 😂
Yes I was waiting for someone to say that 😂
Yea but it’s normal.
@@carolinescreativity6816 same
Umm did she get the frog
Umm did she get the frog
It's okay guys ignore the blood curdling scream
It’s normal for horses to do that
You would get used to it if you're around horses pretty often
@@SL33PYLUNA I have been around horses my whole life it's just the funny part me and my friends pointed out
yeessss i’m so glad someone finally said to hold the hoof and not the leg, thats what my trainer has always taught me to do and i see a lot of people on yt not do that!
Same
Honestly Id say if someone wants to do that why not?

I forgot about one important thing : do not let the hooves down brutally. A good leader put the four hooves on the floor with softness... 😉

Ok
I thought the horse in the back was a human screaming bloody murder 😭
My dad is a Ferrier 😮 so when I get to go with him to work I get to meet all types of horses
My dad was also a farrier 55 years up under a horse
Dang cool
You are so lucky! I love horses! ❤🐴
Cool!

That’s actually really helpful! I always have slightly leaned on my horse to get her to shift her weight then I run my hand from her shoulder or hip down to the hoof and most the time she picks her foot up pretty quickly!
i thought holding the hoof was common sense 😭 i guess not! awesome video
The horse in the background sounds just like my best friends horse 😂
That will definitely help me pick out my lesson horse Alia she is very bad about getting her hooves cleaned
The fact that here in Finland in the winter we sometimes need a hammer to carefully break the ice on the hooves and then we can get the dirt under the ice with a hoof pick
tip number 4 you could put a bucket underneath to catch the dirt so it doesnt get messy

If only it was that easy with them all😂 I actually really enjoy the time I spend fighting to shift the weight over ❤
I know. 😂😂🤣
These are such good tips!!! Thank you❤

I am a horse girl, so thanks for giving me for giving me something easy
This is so useful! New sub ❤🐴
Me, who has never ridden a horse in my life: Very interesting, and useful.
Thank you so much about the first tip, I am learning to ride a horse and I found it a big struggle to lift the foot to clean it 😅
I’m so glad you found it helpful 😊🐴
Damn, the horse's scream was some horror movie thing.
Thank you! This really helped me. I'm riding today so I will do that!
Thanks!

Beautiful😍✨❤ horse🐎
Instead of pinching the the leg to get the horse to pick there hoof up, try pushing of the back of the knee
I think she meant like squeeze the bone at the back, not necessarily pinching the horse. That's what I do
That is such a good tip
The cameraman being in a deadly spot
Superb amazing wonderful fascinating interesting beautiful and unbelievable very nice video.
Also, if they don't want to pick their hooves up you can lean on them a bit and it makes it easier

As a farrier, I typically use an construction compressed air powered cement chipper, it works very well.
That horse making it look like she started a crime seen😂
Anyone else lean on the shoulder to change the weight to the other hoof?
I always do that and I never think about it when I do it
Well, every Horserider should know that !!!
All fun and games until he feels like you need a face lift and sends your soul to the golden gates😂😂
Thanks ❤
Well someone is disturbing a horses nap😂
Thx!❤❤
Thumbs up 👍
can u do one with the back hoofs? i always struggle with picking it up

Sis got a dragon in the stables
Dont hold by the foot hold by the cornet you can grip it better with you hold hand that way if u hold by the hood it slips outa ur hand easier❤

When you cradle the hoof as shown, the flexion makes it more difficult for the horse to pull away.
Lmao I spend years just leaning so they shift their weight this is fancy

Can you make a video of easier ways to pick their feet if they kick cause my horse kicks a lot
Great tips thank you.. but the best part was that loud whinny..:)
I still,c ant get over the horse in the back 😭💅
What are tips for when your try to pick there hoof but they have ur feet around so it’s impossible to get it
another thing: don't let the horse lean on you. did that mistake and got throughoutly scolded. for a good reason, because, well, the horse is much heavier than you. and even if it leans just a bit, if you suddenly move away, it could fall
Or put you side to their leg and lean this makes them lean getting pressure/weight off there hoof
For #1 you can lean on the horse so it will lean on the other foot
You are beautiful 😊
My trainer makes me rub/pinch the horse's Chestnut 😅
my horse hates holding her hoof up and fights it really hard but ill try holding the hoof is she does not bite me lol
my horse walks away when i pick his feet so that’s always fun :D (yes i tie him up but he can still move around)
Sorry... Love the video but I work with jipsy and Peruvian horses. Any tips? 😅
Ty bc digger will not pick up his feet easily it takes like 20mins to clean his feet
This is how I always do it, and everyone else in my barn, always hold it the different way and their horses hooves are never as clean
Dose that hurt the horse when do that.?
How does she not acknowledge that blood curdling scream
You are beautiful 😍
I was taught to do this if they caught us doing it wrong we would have to scoop out a stall (I moved barns because my trainer was abusive to the horses)
When my horse doesnt put her hoof up, i lean onto her shoulder a bit and then she'll lift it
Doesn't hurt?

Was thats a horse or a pterodactyl in the background
Thank you my horse would stop moving feet
I need help my horse her front feet are no problem but her back feet she likes to kick and I can’t hold her feet no matter what I do 😮
i thought the horse was screaming
Me after getting my horse from a barrel racer he unties himself when it’s not needed he also shifts his wait I’m fine
Let me give this woman a tip maybe When the horse moves its leg a bit it when you’re holding it, it’s unstable so let it put its foot down for a bit
mine moves his weight by himself and all i have to do is lean on him and pull on his feathers :)
Okay yeah let’s not talk about how a horse is getting either bullied by another horse or just getting killed
did anybody noticed the at horse screaming bloody murder in the back round?
👇 if u did!

hi! one question,it hurts?
