Honestly, it's probably mainly nostalgia googles but I'm still pretty fond of the film. Sure the movie does crame as much plot as possible and the fight scenes are pretty lackluster, but I'm still attached to the characters (Mata Nui being my favorite). I feel like I'm the only one who isn't bothered by the robot teeth, probably because since this is an animated movie it doesn't feel as uncanny as it is in Age of Ultron, which is live action). The toys I've remembered owning and enjoying playing with my brother, I'm glad that they went all out with the figures. It's a shame people declare this as the worst movie (some I'm pretty sure hate it just because it wasn't like the last three movies), it may fail in some places but it really did try to be something different. It's an even bigger shame that it never got the trilogy it deserved, I know the script for the 5th movie is online (that I haven't read yet), but it still should've been a movie. Also I will die for Click. I appreciate how much they were able to convey his expressiveness despite the animation and well...being a bug. And I like his friendship with Mata Nui.
I went in expecting to despise this one after only seeing it three or so times before I made this review, but I came away from this having trouble deciding whether or not Web of Shadows or this was worse. In concept, TLR is better, and had potential that couldn't be followed up on because of the cancellation (The script you're referring to was merely a treatment, but a pretty interesting one.) Its failings lie primarily in the aesthetic department. Web of Shadows is better presented, acted, and scored, but its story is entirely unnecessary and edgy. They curiously share the problem of having characters that drastically differ from their personalities in other media, something I neglected to mention in the review. I forgot to talk about Click more than just being Mata Nui's shield. He's pretty cool, I liked how he summoned his buddies to make that big Malum-looking creature, and I liked how he had just enough personality to be endearing rather than annoying. He was neat enough to get his own short, after all. I reiterate what I said in the review proper. It's worse than the Miramax movies, but not by THAT much.
I actually quite liked the film - was a big fan of the character designs too. Maybe that was just young me and never having seen the other films though. ...wish it got a continuation
I was very happy to see this film as a kid, I always thought the original trilogy was weird looking, and I was happy to see more accurate depictions of my favourite characters more how I imagined them when I played with the toys, with all their gears and pieces constantly moving
Tbh when I was a kid I didn’t really care about it too much I just wanted to watch something to pass the time. And now I am just revisiting it because of nostalgia lmao.

The metanarrative surrounding the story made me appreciate it more, but it's still lacking compared to the other films, even if certain problems and quirks are carried over. I actually had trouble deciding whether or not this or Web of Shadows was better or worse.
I mean no one had to say it was. The original movies had the cool art style, setting and most importantly the music. This movie has none of that and doesn't do anything else better.
@@MechBladeStudios The first movies had a lot of troubles, but there are still amazing moments that make me want to watch them over and over again (the musics, the makuta, the terryifing rahkshis, vakama's narration of the times before times, "follow the light", lhikan, roodaka #youdoit #iannihilateyouandcomeonthebackofagiantspidertobargain, and just the ambiance and so many lines or moments) "The legend reborn" also had a lot of troubles like the first movies, but on the contrary to them, I have a lot of troubles of finding moments that would make me want to watch them again, except the mask's arrival on bara magna and mata nui encountering click The written story just gave me way more of that, i have chills just hearing the word "baterra"
I still kinda like Legend Reborn for what it is. The biggest Problem is that the movie isnt good on its own. You understand everything much better if you read the books which explains many things. I have the feeling that they tried to make a movie with the pacing of the comics. But im still not sure if I find Mask of Light or Legend Reborn worse xD
Gonna have to disagree with this review when it comes to the art style. Part of my gripes with the originals are that they kinda looked like the toys. Kids don't really care about proportions and stuff, they want to see their toys on the screen and I feel the movie did a phenomenal job of that

This movie had the best animation the first three movies should have never been cg it wasn’t ready back in 2003 they should have done the three 2d animated movies mask of light metru nui and web of shadows and than released legend reborn with cg the Bionicle video game for Xbox ps2 was better than the first three movies back in 03
the first seconds of the movie were fucking trash. and your comparison at the begining make complete sense. The 2008 short Promotional Animation style was WAAAAY better and made Mata Nui look powerful and heavy. My Best guess is that the 2008 Animation style was kind of more "expenssive" to make/render for a whole Film. However the 3d models and textures of most of the Glatorian and agori look pretty good actually, except for thw theet and face things on their mask. 2007 Barraki and Mahri Commmmercials were way better compared to Legend Reborn.. I wish they made a whole movie with that Animation Style by "Ghost".. I would've gave it a 3 out of 10 with the 3 classinc ones being a 6 out of 10 after re-watching them again, hey have you watched Pacific Rim (2013) God.. Imagine a Bionicle Movie with that CGI and Effects..

This was the first, and admittedly only Bionicle film I ever saw myself. I remember enjoying it, but it’s not one that ever really stuck with me.
