Hi!
Just found your videos. I get a good inner feeling from them.
May I ask what you consider is correct breathing. The belly breathing recommendations around yt doesn't sit right. Isn't the ribcage supposed to do the most expansion in all directions and not the belly?
Also, this tailbone move in qigong, how much is best? I feel the natural curve should not be worked against? In yoga it is popular to draw in navel and genitals, is that not recommended in qigong?
Bless.
Good question, Mika. When you’re just getting started with Qigong, the breath should be relaxed and natural. Focus on breathing comfortably without forcing it-let the breath flow smoothly as you move. As you progress, you can deepen your awareness of the abdomen and ribcage expanding, but the key is to keep it relaxed and free of tension. Regarding the tailbone move, you’re right-the natural curve of the spine shouldn’t be forced. A gentle tuck of the pelvis is fine, but it’s important to keep the natural curve intact.
@@qigongwithkseny Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I practised Zhineng qigong many years ago but stopped since it caused me to feel worry. You see, I am a christian and there is this ambivalence and warnings towards eastern 'occult' methods so I quit but have all these years felt the longing to move with such grace and energy again. No other 'western' method have made me feel that particular grounding and ease since then. However, I also have CPTSD so my breathing is already restricted and I have been doing too deep belly breathing, almost bypassing the ribcage and that total relaxation of heart and solar plexus. It is like I am on guard to relax that section.
Good point with the tailbone. I also have a tendency for inguinal hernia so if I reduce the curve too much it starts pushing in that area.
Look forward to watch your videos closely and follow along step by step.
Bless!
