  • I love the experience of solo traveling, what it offers me and how much I get to learn, but I often miss the experience of meeting other travellers. I was planning an episode of Arctic Grayling fishing, but the evening before hitting the water I saw an old school camper van pull into the campground. This late in the season, it is not common to see other traveler in such a remote spot, and on top of that, they were foreign. I was delighted to see them traveling remote, and even more delighted to see them just out right away and start fishing in the river.
Naturally, I offered them to come for a day of fishing on the river if they could wait until morning, and they happily accepted. Adam and Bianca are both from Australia, and are enjoying two years of traveling and working around Canada. Canada is becoming more popular as a travel destination, but meeting folks that far away from the closest town is very uncommon, so I knew right away they were folks I wanted to meet.
We headed out for our day on the water, and it didn't take long to start getting into fish. They were both in pursuit of their first Arctic Grayling, one of several bucket list fish for their time here, and it didn't take them long. In fact, by the time we left our first stop, we had all gotten into a couple. I can imagine their excitement, but for me it was priceless just to watch them fish and catch. I wish I could offer such an experience to every traveler, but I will always remember this trip.
We spent the day fishing and the evening sharing stories, but the following day it was time for us all to continue our travels. For me, that meant the final stretch to Yukon, where I can finally place a DA sticker along side all the others I have admired each year.

I had to stop the video half way through after you thanked us for viewing your videos. I don't think you understand how much we appreciate your artistic and loving view of bc and beyond. You Dustin bring the world to us each week in such a personal way that just goes beyond a simple video of a destination. You bring the stories, the life and the joy of the people who live in these places. And it's the stories, and landscapes and your passion for it all that gives us the viewers joy and frankly something to look forward to watching. We most of us will never get to go and do many things you do, this medium of yours blesses so many of us with the opportunity to go with you and experience these off the beaten path places right along with you! So thank you for blessing us with your enthusiasm and joy as you explore and film your experiences! Now I want to finish this video! Blessings!

I was at junction 37 fuel station in late 1984 with my father on a hunting and fishing trip. I was 9 or 10 years of age at the time. I have pics of the place. We stayed there for 5 days as we hunted and fished at Killington Lake before moving on to Ross River for camping and fishing, then to Little Salman and then Carmacks. It was the best time of my life, and I'll never forget seeing my first salmon and first black bear.

Hi from Monroe Georgia! It's always a special day to watch your videos! They are SOOOO thoughtful and always with great care, especially with native peoples lands and their cultural events. I'm always blown away at the reverence and special care you show for the areas you visit. The Hida Guia videos and the cultural things you were able to share were something most people will never get to experience and im ever so thankful for getting to experience the beauty you always offer us your viewers. My health prevents me from getting out and seeing the beauty of N. America, but through your videos I get to see more than I ever thought possible and for that I am ever so thankful. Dustin, I hope and pray that you're always safe and happy in the adventures you take on. Your videos mean that I get to go on adventures I never thought I would ever see since I'm stuck I'm my home and unable to tolerate more than a 30 minute car ride. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos, you are a remarkable young man who has the forethought to be respectful and show deference to the cultures you present to us. Happy trails and safe travels to you!

    Dustin, you are welcome! 😂
Seriously, I was crying with joy through half of this video. What a beautiful story in the best place on Earth. I totally relate to Adam & Bianca’s experience. I first learned about Canada when my aunt brought some travel brochures she picked up somewhere… I was about 12 and behind the Iron Curtain. The idea that I would one day live the dream was just so absurd… but if you keep the dream alive and you work on it, one day it will come true.
I am extremely fortunate to live here in BC, and to have found your channel that brings me to places I might never find the time to visit.

I can relate to her comment at the beginning about tourist traps. I've lived within a 4 hour drive from Jasper for over 50 years and still never been there. I'll take the remote backroads any day over the busy spots in any part of the world I travel to.

I know I say it every video, but thank you, Dustin. Your videos are definitely a joy for me. We recently moved from Proctor, MN to Maple Grove, MN. To much city, but a necessary move. So, watching your videos and the beauty of the land and nature is food for my heart. Loved the interaction with the Australian explorers. Another great video. God's blessings and safe travels from Maple Grove, MN

Mate, It’s been a tough week here looking after Mum. She’s had a bad week, thus it’s been a struggle for me caring for her. I just woke up and hopped on UA-cam, completely forgetting it was Sunday here in Tassie and your vid was due. Very happy to get away from it all for 23 minutes. As always, brilliant. Thanks so much for what you do and all the effort you put in to make these vids so remarkable. Truly gifted, mate.
    Rob, Tasmania
P.s. And I love your interviews. A couple of fellow Aussies made my day. A beautiful couple. So Aussie!

I’ve lived in BC all my life. My mom and dad took us on many camping adventures but never to the places you’ve been to. It’s too bad as dad would have loved those spots. I guess when you’re travelling with 5 little kids it’s hard to get to those places. Thank you for showing them to us.

My bucket list just got a little bit longer! I have been on a Princess Cruise, did the inside passage to AK, it was an amazing experience. Not something I would do again because I enjoy driving too much but glad I had the experience for sure. Love your work Dustin, your humour and humility are both refreshing. Respect from Northern BC

Your are continuing your work started with Princess Cruise … bringing so many different facets of our beautiful country to all…the history…the beauty…the culture…the adventure. Thank you so much for being one of the brave to choose a lifestyle with so much freedom to bring inspiration to those of us not quite ready to take that same step…
