    Gerald, Bob Seitsinger. Just saw your cam shaft bearing maching. Very impressive 😊. Thanks

    Doing this modification also makes the bearings act as oil restrictors too, limiting (in a good way) the oil feed to the camshaft. Good for engines like the 351C that "suffer" from over-oiling of the camshaft bearings. Nice work.

    Mr. Brand, this is outstanding information. Things like this are why I decided to go with a local machinist even though it’s been a 6 month wait. Last time I went by to check on it, there were donuts in the tiny parking lot from a satisfied customer. Thanks again

    You can proly do 5 or 6video just on a full machined block. I dont think there are many video about actual blueprinting and measuring before assembly. I myself would like to see and hear about piston squirters and how to machine in. And judgin by our weeks long forum discussions about which main gets what 1st, maybe an oil galley(s) refresher. Were good on front drive distributors, i promise

    Hi Mr Brand. Only just found your channel. Have you done any videos that show blueprinting the oil galleries? Or do you have any incite on what size oil galleries is too small? I am curious if the BMW S85 / S66 engines that keep spinning rod bearings have an oil gallery that is too small in diameter.
    Regards Ryan.
    Ps, your mod to groove the back side of the cam bearing will also keep the bearing cooler as it has oil flowing all around it now.

  • @oikkuoek
    @oikkuoek Рік тому

    Interesting.. Could there be a way to cut the groove to the bearing housings while line honing them? To prevent the bearings from spinning. When the housing wall is straight and all you have is that relatively shallow groove on the bearing itself, the oil pressure might sqeeze out between the bearing and the housing. I know it is heaps simpler task to do like that, but the groove in the housing would allow thicker oil, and it would suck the bearing tight against the housing(this effect needs both grooves btw), instead of squeezing out in between. You'd need to be able to adjust the cut depth mid cut, and that's where my engineering skills end.. A screw and a wedge and a pivot pin to hold the blade, or something..?

  • @arturozarate1752
    @arturozarate1752 Рік тому

    Mr. Brand l, I'm curious about the benefits of "roller" cam bearings vs. a standard flat pressed in cam bearing like in today's video. What situations would a bearing like that be necessary? What other components are necessary to work with a bearing change like that?
    I'm also curious about larger cam lobes vs. retro fit size cam lobes....benefits of as far as lifter wear at high rpm(7k +), high rpm capability, stock lifter bore size or necessary to bore for larger diameter lifters.

    • @BrandRacingEngines
      @BrandRacingEngines  Рік тому +1

      I have not seen any benefit to roller cam bearings. No other component necessary. It the barrel size of the core not the lobe size. It depends on the camshaft.

    Howdy Gerald, Curiousity kicking around in my Noggin... Building on a skimpy budget, I've been a Die hard SBC/BBC gear head, after being a greasemonkey my entire life... I have a bunch of SBF and Foxbody aswell as other projects... My Interest is, Currently I have 1 forged steel 331 and 1 347 Forged steel crank, and 1 cast 347 crank... Using 90's OEM roller blocks etc... My question, Difference in Build costs Cast vs Forged where Balancing/Crank Lightening are either more or less budget & durability friendly??? I honestly wouldn't mind finding a OEM 8.2 deck Limits, Even if I split several in 2...
