    So many great cards in this video! Thanks for covering them all. I also did not realize that the United Club card also got you IHG Platinum status. Great to know!! Was a big fan of the Explorer card back in the day when I flew a lot of United. It's like the Boundless card in that it's a great starter card for those who want a co-branded credit card for a certain airline/hotel company!

      I appreciate you Stan! I was pretty surprised by that benefit on the United Club Infinite too haha. Seems like a solid choice if you're a United loyalist for sure! And I agree with you on the Explorer as well. Easy to get positive value from and test out United as an airline. Thanks for watching as always brotha!

    Super valuable video here Spencer! I know a lot of people have heavy loyalty to specific airlines, and if they travel frequently, can get a lot value from some of those higher earning categories, free checked bags, companion passes or lounge access. Also, thank you for the shoutout! Gotta love getting that Alaska Companion Fare with no spend. Great video as always!

      Thank you Matt!! I definitely think airline credit cards have their place as part of a supplemental setup, especially if you frequent just one or two airlines multiple times a year. And no problem on the shoutout! I appreciate you helping me understand that benefit a bit better 🫡

    Finally got around to sitting down and watching this video. I've looked into airline cards before but I think this confirms that the delta card lineup would likely be best for me personally mainly for the checked bags and companion pass. I would love to see a video going over the perks + benefits of hotel cards vs airline cards though! Considering I will likely use a hotel and an airline when traveling, it would be interesting to see where you can extract more value from depending on where you are in the credit card journey.

    • @ab3040
      @ab3040 Місяць тому

      They kinda all suck
      Not like I'm going to put spend on them, and they don't provide much added value in benefits. Delta is the only one that provides easier access to status, but in my experience, you need pretty high status to get upgrades.
      Feels smarter to get the Amex Platinum, get 5x points on flights there, more comprehensive lounge access, and get status the old fashioned way

    Love this comprehensive list of airline cards Spencer. Out of all these cards, my fav has to be cards from AA. Although it's so easy to book AA flights with Avios or sometimes through Alaska, AA is my favorite airline. No more crazy AA miles given from booking hotels with Rocketmiles like it used to. But the AA Shopping portal and their online dining site are good way of racking up AA miles.
    Starting in 2024, They will have completely updated Business class products. Very exciting times. So yeah, I love AA cards and racking up their miles whenever I can. (since it has no transfer partners other than BILT)

    No love for the AA red aviator and silver card with Barclays

    • @MLB-Av-Geek
      @MLB-Av-Geek 7 місяців тому

      Yeah I was surprised he didn’t mention them either. Especially since AA pushes the Aviator Red like it’s the second coming of Jesus himself. I honestly have the Aviator Red though, along with the Citi AAdvantage Executive Card as well as the AAdvantage Platinum Select. The thing that I have yet to see anybody talk about even if they do mention the Aviator Red, is the “flight cents” program. And for those who are unfamiliar with it, it goes a little something like this.
      You can round up your purchases to the nearest dollar to get even more miles.
      So if you buy something for say $3.20 and round up the $0.80 to be a total of $4.00 this is how it will play out. You get 0.5 miles for $0.01. So if you round up $0.80 you’ll end up with 40 miles. For a grand total of 43 miles for the whole purchase of just $4.00.
      Pair that with the Citi Executive Card and you’ve got yourself a decent powerhouse for earning AA miles while also having Admirals Club Access, Group 4 boarding, Priority Check-In, Priority Bag Tagging, along with all the other benefits Spencer listed in the video.
      Plus the sign up bonus on the Aviator Red is the most insane in the whole Airline CC market. Pay the annual fee, make a single purchase for any amount, and wham bam thank you mam, an instant 60,000 AA miles.
      Just my 0.2 on AA cards.

    • @bencalebrod
      @bencalebrod 7 місяців тому +7

      AA Red Aviator in particular is the GOAT airline card in terms of a welcome bonus. 60 to 70k AA points for just opening the card and making any purchase is insane.

    One detail that might make the difference for someone trying to choose between the United Club card and the AAdvantage Executive card is that authorized users of the AAdvantage card also get Admiral's Club access, even if traveling without the primary cardholder. This does NOT include access to partner lounges, which the primary cardholder would have. The United Club card only allows access for people traveling with the primary cardholder on the same reservation; authorized users get no club access without the primary cardholder being with them.

    I'd like to see one on international airlines! I'd like to hear your opinion on the Chase Air Canada Aeroplan card, which is IMO one of the most underrated cards. Excellent multipliers, decent SUB, the versatility of Aeroplan points, free 25K status, and the pay yourself back option make it a very solid card even if you're not a regular Air Canada flyer.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 місяців тому

    • @galehess6676

      Air Can's Aero card is by far the best, due to the values on the flights.. eg, it destroys United Polaris Business $6k Polaris to Tokyo, by $4k, as it's $2k for a lay-flat/similar experience, or comparable points value. Insane value, comparatively speaking. Search different airlines for various legs and consider returning out of a different airport, to a different mid-point, eg Maui, SF, LAS, etc. PLUS, transfer of points from Chase to Aero, through Dec 31, 2023, is at 20% advantage, given by Chase. Don't ask me why. But them's the grapes.

    A lot of great info. Not really into Airline cards at the moment but it is good to know that side of it also in case something happens and I'll need to look into it. Good to see there are some decent options. Seeing as my main airport hub would be a delta provider, kinda soured right now with everything going on over there. Personally though I would probably go with a premium hotel card that has a lot of overlap and book cheapest rate or through the suggested portal. I really am all about the stay instead of the journey. And being middle class with children, getting award booking business or first class even with points would be out of reach. Maybe mention point expiration next time. I know some reward points expire. So even if trying to hoard for some family asperational it would still be better to get a general and come time for booking then get a card specific for trio if it will save money and make sense.

    • @SpencerJohnsonOfficial
      @SpencerJohnsonOfficial  7 місяців тому

      I appreciate that man! I don't blame you for not being into airline cards right now. Like I mentioned, I think they can be a great supplement to your core setup, but I find general travel credit cards and even hotel credit cards to be more valuable. As for Delta, they are definitely an annoying airline to get cards with now so they kinda put a bad taste in my mouth too. And good point on the expiration dates of points. For the most part, I wouldn't worry about that, but there may be a few weird ones out there to keep an eye on. Thanks for watching as always man!!

I spent six years in England so I got well acquainted with British Airways. Over there, the Chase BA card makes the Amex Platinum look like a joke. And because you can transfer to BA from all the major lenders, it’s a fantastic supplemental card. Its perks pay for the annual fee at least two times over.
