@@timctx I'm not so happy with it. It basically means there are likely to be a flood of Silver and Gold Medallions, which sort of obviates the whole point of the original changes. I just don't know if Delta is really thinking these things through.
✈️ As someone who isn't a Delta loyalist, these changes they're making are decreasing the odds I ever will be one. I like the analogy you made at the end... while these feel like positive changes, we can't forget where this plane is ultimately headed. Great video man!
I have been a Delta loyalist since the 1980's and have over 2 million miles. Delta rewards me by making me Platinum for life. I don't care for the changes to the Delta AE cards but I understand that it was an unsustainable model. Many people are just chasing status on any airline while not having allegiance to any. Let's face it, Delta was handing out status and SkyClub access like candy. So something had to change.
Big downer for me because I fly basic economy whenever it's cheaper (oddly enough, sometimes MC and Basic are the same price). Some snobby types may think I am part of the "problem", but honestly, most of the times I've been in a Skyclub, it's either been mostly empty or only moderately full. Never a line, except for my one visit at JFK. I feel like Delta took the wrong approach, and should have instead focused on capacity on their big/hub cities, such as JFK and perhaps LAX
@@RedDiomedes annual fee hike, while simultaneously credits are lowered, and also segmented and far more difficult to use. kind of a double whammy, essentially amex and hilton kicked us in the face while we are down. poop sandwich squared. still positive value overall, but they realized the old card was super broken and they fixed it.
3.25 million miler, what a significant update! Wondering when Delta was going to acknowledge that loyalty is important when trying to keep your business stable, especially through the lean years. Diamond for life is a sweet perk. Using the Delta reserve card in conjunction with lifetime Diamond makes retirement travel that much easier.
✈️ Status is great and worth having it. I agree. Lounges are important while traveling too. But beyond that, let’s not forget about service. Traveling by air used to be fun and friendly service back in the day. I traveled quite a bit from 2007 to 2013 and had terrible experience with United, also with what it used to be US Airways (remember them?), and AA. When I started flying with Delta 10 years ago, only twice I had a rude flight attendant, which I put in my complaint directly with Delta, of course. Anyway, while all of these changes are certainly a storm, confusion, and challenges; I am sure there will be more of these to come, let’s also seek for great service while on board! Now, if it would be my way, I’d love for Delta to offer services like those Singapore Airlines has… just saying.
Being an economy flyer who has the AMEX platinum card this is single handedly making me end my platinum card membership and moving down to AMEX gold. Delta Lounge access is the single most important perk of the platinum card and forcing people to spend an extra amount to get delta comfort plus to get the lounge is a nickel and dime move pushed too far. Now it’s time to try the Chase travel Credit cards. Starting from lowest and moving up the ladder. It was a good run but the fact they are removing access for economy flyers is a slap in the face without a proper replacement. No the AMEX centurion lounge is not a replacement. LAX centurion lounge has failed to make their lounge anywhere comparable to the delta lounges offered at that airport. It’s a shame considering LAX is one of the worlds busiest airports. The delayed centurion lounge opening that dragged out over a year was worse enough.
✈️ the MM change is the only one that seems pro-frequent flyer. Everything else was just a slight reduction in severity of the changes. I think most of the pushback from customers was on the direction of the program, not the numbers of the program. MM is a tasty looking carrot now thought...
✈1) Don't care. 2) I think it's fine, lounges do need to be thinned out. (But Delta does have nice lounges compared to AA and UAL. 3) Super don't care about lifetime status. Don't fly enough to even come close. In conclusion: I have been flying AA this year in order to keep AA Gold as part of a status match between Hyatt and AA. May look at AA next year even if I don't keep it. I can get into Centurion lounges at AA hubs and that would be just fine. FYI, the Admirals clubs are a joke. I only burn my AA miles to get into them if I am desperate. So it's not worth getting the Citi AA Executive card.
Thanks for this and all your content. I just earned silver medallion status with delta and trying to wrap my head around taking full advantage of benefits. Your content really helps shift through things. Contemplating getting a reserve card to help maintain status. Cheers!
Interesting update video. ✈️ On another note, I picked up an AMEX Platinum last year and have been happy so far with it. I was thinking of getting the Costco card as my next one, but have been scared away from it due to the high number of rejections I’ve read about from reviewers. It seems to be that the Costco card partner has a very odd approval criteria. It’d be interesting to see a vid from you comparing the shopping club cards, their pros/cons, approval requirements and general customer sentiments from reviews.
Sorry there were 4 of these reply posts. I was having app error issues, only realized the repeat posts now. I’ve gone ahead and deleted the erroneous posts. 😅
🛫I’ve been waiting for your video since I received the Delta email yesterday. Great video. I fly 20-25 times a year domestically and internationally, I will miss the unlimited lounge access but I agree with the change to 10 and 15 visits.
I also think there’s a difference in quality with what you get. Admirals clubs are garbage, but delta sky clubs are way better than centurion lounges. I don’t fly often but when I do, my work forces me to buy the base fare economy seat. If I’m to choose a lounge, it would be delta every time. Better space, faster WiFi, more and better food, the list goes on.
✈️ as a 22 year old consultant I refuse to wait until I’m 70 for lifetime diamond. New system better, but still not great. I was a little early to the party with ignoring status and just flying whatever is direct so now I have about or just under 100k with all 3 towards my lifetime status. I still think my way is easier. And because I churn I always have access to a lounge somewhere
I would be interested to hear what Sebby’s game plan would be if he decided to go with AA in the future. Same thing I’m considering as well. Continue to stay with Delta or move to AA.
I moved to AA due to a Hyatt to AA status match. Program is not bad, but Delta is still a better airline operationally then AA. Delta may be more expensive, but they will get you to your destination on time and with your luggage, which is really the primary goal.
MSP lounges: we have three clubs - it used to be that C12 was great for views and F1/Mall had the full bar and food. Now that we have G18, the only reason that I would ever go to the others is if G18 is full.
Honestly, C12 was my favorite throughout COVID. F1 has such a weird layout and just feels like an airside gate area with slightly comfier chairs. I agree with Sebby that G18 is my favorite of the new clubs, though. That indoor/outdoor flex space is incredible
Guys to sum it up… do I keep my delta platinum American Express… yes or no??? Haha this is getting so confusing… is it best just to switch to an American Express card? Thanks everybody!
A solid no. Doesn't even get you SkyClub access with the new changes. Only way it makes sense is stacking the MQD headstart with a Reserve if you don't want to pay two Reserve AFs. I see 3 options: 1. Status chaser - keep the Plat and take a Reserve welcome bonus. Slightly cheaper MQD headstart stacking. (Reserve + Delta Plat = 5k MQD headstart, $800AF. 2x Reserve = 5k MQD headstart, $1,100AF) 2. Club hound - take a Reserve welcome bonus and then upgrade the Plat to Reserve, or downgrade to Blue and get regular Amex Plat to stack club visits. (2x Reserve = 30 days of visits. Reserve + Regular Plat = 25 days of visits.) 3. Travel rarely but like the perks - downgrade to Blue and get a regular Amex Plat. This really depends on how much you travel and if you have other decent options at your most frequent airport for other clubs (i.e. Centurion).
I fly between 70-100 flights a year. Delta seems to be my least booked airline usually as I’m an IAH based flyer. That being said, as a Biz Plat holder, I find these limitation for club visits as reasonable. If I was ATL based, maybe not so much. 😅
I was thinking about still chasing silver status with the Delta Platinum Business at 1.5X, but I'm still better with the BBP. We'll continue to use Delta, without the Reserve Card, or $90-120K spend, but incorporating Hawaiian and Alaska domestically too. ✈✈✈
The 24-hour rule makes sense, esp for an airline like Delta which is so heavily built around a hub and spoke model. I still think they are missing the mark with their Delta Reserve card. It's the only one of the big three airline cards that doesn't have unlimited lounge access.
🤣✈️ I have a chase sapphire reserve card and I’m starting to see/feel little benefit from it. My credit is superb and I value very much my gold status on delta. I’m losing it for some reason because I have 17k MQMs to go and am wondering if I spend $100,000 a year minimum on a delta card would that plus my flights for work net me platinum.
✈️ I agree its only a matter of time since we have seen their grand design. We know where Delta's program is going. Currently, I favor United and Alaska as complimentary programs. Given Delta's changes, I know people have been talking about AA, but come on now. Its still AA, and nobody was excited about them before Delta's changes for good reason. No matter how many easier pathways to status they have, you gotta fly often unreliable, late, etc. AA.
Great videos! Quick question. We spend probably $5000 a year on delta flights a year. Would u put that spend on my delta platinum or my American Express platinum ?
✈️ I hope you were able to get a good nap in. Thanks for the rundown. At this point I may actually move up to Delta Reserve Amex. I live in Denver so I get a lot of upgrades (not being in a hub city helps a lot, I’m sure) and I really do appreciate those. It also means that I transfer on most of my trips so I appreciate lounge access. Getting the Reserve would help me retain status with spend (I only fly around 8 times a year) and get me lounge access (obviously I only need that perhaps 6 times a year) I’m also saving my points for an aspirational trip with my family when my daughter graduates in year and as half. Ic hate ti see all my Delta Miles go to waste if I abandoned them now.
Your spot on, Delta isn't sorry, They're sorry about the social media backlash. I love status, but this is why I hated the consolidation of Northwest, Continental, and US Air into Delta, United, and AA. I understand business, but having just 3 major players in any industry isn't the best for the consumers. I'm going to utilize their premium cards, but I won't chase status. However, if ur you're half to 1M you might as well finish, I would ✈️
7:50 I wonder what is happening to Delta Cruises? The announcement does not mention Delta Cruises, by name. It would make sense if Delta Cruises was to be combined with Delta Vacations. I will say, with the 3 MQD per dollar on Delta Vacations, for some card holders, the MQD levels may not be as hard to reach as originally thought.
✈️ First, i really appreciate your content. It’s so thorough. My question as a Delta Reserve card holder is, I’m not even silver status yet but I’m close (should have by end of year); I’m not sure if I should jump ship or not?
✈️ at this point, I don’t even know what to do with my AMEX Delta platinum card. They constantly the value their points and now it’s not even a way to get to status 🤷🏾♂️. Maybe I should swap it for the Hilton card?
✈️ 1.) Don’t care about the elite status enough to chase it. 2.) Have a Delta Platinum AMEX so glad to have access back. I was going to downgrade to gold. 3.) I won’t be chasing lifetime status.
Changing to only MQD's from MQM's is the worst thing. They took a step back mainly for AMEX card holders and are still screwing over Delta loyalists who fly for business in economy. This step back is just cosmetic. I will still no longer pursue status with Delta.
✈️ I have all of my miles with Delta, have the Delta Platinum (my first AmEx card back a few years ago) because of the free bag and free companion ticket for only $250 annual, but I rarely transfer my AmEx points to Delta. Starting to wonder if I’m not just better off dropping the card down to the basic blue and just sticking with my AmEx Gold/Business Gold/BBP for point generators.
Anyone have information on the MQD headstart bonus? If you have 2 reserve cards (Personal + business) or 2 Platinum cards, do you get (2) of the $2,500 headstarts boosts?
I wonder if what they unveiled last month was what they a stop over was and that the end destination will be even more ridiculous. I’m on the fence about keeping my Reserve past 2024. ✈️
Need help, should I drop my Delta Reserve card? With 2MM Miller = now Lifetime Platinum and Diamond Status for next year. I travel about 3 times/ month. I was mainly using Reserve Card for lounge and MQMs. Should I use my 3 Diamond choices for lounge and drop the Reserve card?
✈️ tbh used to do 90 percent of my flights with Delta I picked up status match with AA and united booked a few trips have been cheaper this made me open my eyes and made me more or a free agent. I think they will move the mqd up with time they are just easing everyone into it I wouldn't be surprised if the original values land in a year or two.
@@guzzidelgadoif you have status with say Delta and want it with united you just google "united status match delta" same with any airline really. jetblues is gone that was limited. Also I suggest you do it before you fly said airline.
✈ I'm very sure the end state is what they were aiming for but they had to piss everyone off real bad before and then put the end state so they would say they listened... I think there will be less competition getting upgrades as the thresholds will be much higher!
✈️ Still trying to figure out how hard it will be for me to get status. Being that I only fly about 3 times per year. I have the delta reserve but trying to get to at least Silver. This is all super confusing, not your video but how they are doing things now.
Thanks for the quick update. You covered everything. Sebby you do the best job by far. All others are pretenders. I will keep the reserve for 2024 for lounge and I will be million miler gold so I like this latest revision.
✈️ gonna have > 500k rollover after they take the 125 for next year (at least I'm assuming that's what they're gonna do). Would you take all 5 years? Do you see any real value in the other options? Other problem is that I'm probably gonna spend 28k next year anyway, so is that just wasting something? The irony is that I don't know what my flying in 3 years will be, so it might be best to "waste" 1-2 years of the MQM benefit to get it later down the road. Ideally we'd be able to put these years in the bank and use them for years we don't hit status, but I don't think that's the offer. How would you play it?
Sebby saw you in airport going to Japan. Your wife was bundled up looked like she had blankets😂 I wanna know, keep DReserve or keep Amex Gold... 1 gotta go
I have 400k mqms. based on this new plan I am guaranteed to be diamond medallion until 2030 without taking a single flight. not sure this will help the overcrowding issue.
✈️ delta has gone from my only airline to one I begrudgingly use sometimes. My case is I was on track for my first diamond next year. I have the mqm but not the mqd for this year With delta in the news, it would be nice to get a video on ruc guc and the Reserve companion pass - are they conveniently usable? How to get max value? I am at 931k miles so like 13 trans con away. Sigh
At 15:25, when you say “get off the plane and take another flight” I assume you mean quit Delta and switch to another airline? I plan to do this after I hit my million miler status soon. I used to love and recommend Delta, but no more. My loyalty to Delta is gone! 😅
✈️ those like me flying 14 to 20 times per year, even as Gold status are clearly are not valued. What does Delta value? Those who fly a hand full of times using AmEx credit cards?
Ugh, what airline matches Delta’s service tho? ✈️✈️✈️. I’ve secured platinum in 2024 and stopped using my Reserve card in protest. Will be downgrading the Reserve in 2024 as well.
🛫 airline status is worthless. There’s just no reason for it. The bulk of your money is being spent on hotels and potentially rental car even if you’re a high volume traveler, I would rather be worried about staying in a nice place and having a nice car versus how I got there. Cheapest ticket for the W.
Sebastian, Kind of a back tread about the delta oops we are sorry here but. I don’t fly delta anyway so it’s all pointless to me. I sent you the Amex Hilton changes. I believe you have it but I got notice on this in the morning but you probably already knew before I sent it to you on IG. Appreciate the video buddy.

Always fire 🔥 intel brother man. Great editing Mandy. 🥃🥃🥃
Its not good news, the requirements per tier is still increasing and the increases are wayy too much!
Your spot on, Delta isn't sorry,
They're sorry about the social media backlash.
I love status, but this is why I hated the consolidation of Northwest, Continental, and US Air into Delta, United, and AA. I understand business, but having just 3 major players in any industry isn't the best for the consumers.
I'm going to utilize their premium cards, but I won't chase status.
However, if ur you're half to 1M you might as well finish,
I would ✈️
7:50 I wonder what is happening to Delta Cruises?
While this is very informative, I can’t help but thinking do I really want to jump through all that for lounge access?
I have a question l, so do I have to still pay 50$ to enter the lounge with the platinum?
Changing to only MQD's from MQM's is the worst thing. They took a step back mainly for AMEX card holders and are still screwing over Delta loyalists who fly for business in economy. This step back is just cosmetic. I will still no longer pursue status with Delta.
after jan 1 2024, if I were to buy a main cabin ticket.... do I get lounge access too or do I lose it? Delta SkyMiles platinum amex holder over here,
I’ve read from many sources the mqd boost does stack.
I’m off at the next stop, bye Delta.✈️
I wonder if what they unveiled last month was what they a stop over was and that the end destination will be even more ridiculous. I’m on the fence about keeping my Reserve past 2024. ✈️
Need help, should I drop my Delta Reserve card? With 2MM Miller = now Lifetime Platinum and Diamond Status for next year. I travel about 3 times/ month. I was mainly using Reserve Card for lounge and MQMs. Should I use my 3 Diamond choices for lounge and drop the Reserve card?
✈️ at the end you mentioned flying American, why the switch?
I've lost interest in Delta's Skymiles program thanks to all this bs.
How do you do status match to other airlines ?
@@guzzidelgadoif you have status with say Delta and want it with united you just google "united status match delta" same with any airline really. jetblues is gone that was limited. Also I suggest you do it before you fly said airline.
✈️ Glad to have my Amex Platinum… Great Benefits
Lax would not let me access sky club with delta amex platinum
✈ I'm very sure the end state is what they were aiming for but they had to piss everyone off real bad before and then put the end state so they would say they listened...
I think there will be less competition getting upgrades as the thresholds will be much higher!
Still not clear. I have Amex Delta Platinum…can I get into the sky club for $50….or no access at all now?
No, the Amex Delta platinum will no longer have access starting next year.
✈️ Still trying to figure out how hard it will be for me to get status. Being that I only fly about 3 times per year. I have the delta reserve but trying to get to at least Silver. This is all super confusing, not your video but how they are doing things now.
Ugh 😩 Delta Gold is my oldest card my offer platinum with 3x points 😑😒
How would you play it?
can you do a vid or give ur opinion on the changes in amex hilton
Next video! Lots of news this week.
Clear as mud.
Yeah I’m going to cancel my delta reserve and go with the united credit card.
United Airlines is the 3rd worst ranked major domestic airline!
Sebby saw you in airport going to Japan. Your wife was bundled up looked like she had blankets😂 I wanna know, keep DReserve or keep Amex Gold... 1 gotta go
I don't think that was us. Haven't flown to Japan since April last year 😅
@@AskSebby Correct. I go to this event out there every yr.
It does say “per card” for the Delta MQD headstarts, so I’m hoping that it should stack? I feel like it would say so if otherwise
It does say “per card”
I have 400k mqms. based on this new plan I am guaranteed to be diamond medallion until 2030 without taking a single flight. not sure this will help the overcrowding issue.
What am I missing
✈ hmmm really making me thinkg abouth things for delta or if I should just give it up cuz the writing is on the wall lol
✈️ good changes for me!
✈️ delta has gone from my only airline to one I begrudgingly use sometimes. My case is I was on track for my first diamond next year. I have the mqm but not the mqd for this year
With delta in the news, it would be nice to get a video on ruc guc and the Reserve companion pass - are they conveniently usable? How to get max value?
I am at 931k miles so like 13 trans con away.
Sigh
At 15:25, when you say “get off the plane and take another flight” I assume you mean quit Delta and switch to another airline? I plan to do this after I hit my million miler status soon. I used to love and recommend Delta, but no more. My loyalty to Delta is gone! 😅
Question: If I’ve already earned 1 million mileage lifetime status (silver for life) will I now be changed to gold for life under the new plan?
Yes
✈️ those like me flying 14 to 20 times per year, even as Gold status are clearly are not valued. What does Delta value? Those who fly a hand full of times using AmEx credit cards?
Wait wtf you doing in New Orleans?! Welcome! 🎉
My physics for engineers Quantum Mechanics was easier to understand than all these!
✈- Thanks
Ugh, what airline matches Delta’s service tho? ✈️✈️✈️. I’ve secured platinum in 2024 and stopped using my Reserve card in protest. Will be downgrading the Reserve in 2024 as well.
🛫 airline status is worthless. There’s just no reason for it. The bulk of your money is being spent on hotels and potentially rental car even if you’re a high volume traveler, I would rather be worried about staying in a nice place and having a nice car versus how I got there. Cheapest ticket for the W.
Shame on Ed Bastian. But he's just doing what the shareholders want. Delta will reconsider...in 5 years.
Sebastian,
Kind of a back tread about the delta oops we are sorry here but. I don’t fly delta anyway so it’s all pointless to me. I sent you the Amex Hilton changes. I believe you have it but I got notice on this in the morning but you probably already knew before I sent it to you on IG. Appreciate the video buddy.
✈️ The MM gifting is a huge plus for the United program. Have you heard how some people create a daisy chain to create multiple Global Service members?
Too little too late I think. I don't fly them anyway so it's a moot point for me. Can't wait for the video on the Hilton card updates.
Tomorrow’s video!
I avoid DL like a plague!
I’m sorry but did you say platinum is a cheap card? Whew 😅
He probably means once you’ve deducted all of the benefits, then the actual cost is not that much.
@@crecasens benefits or not the card has a high yearly subscription cost. It is in no way cheap
