DJ, I am glad you made this comment. I am really trying to take folks through some of the thought process as I go. I think people who are actually building something like this will be having to solve the same problems. I think this is a big advantage of a first timer making a video as the pros won't talk about things that seam obvious to them since they have already done it a hundred times. I plan to continue this level of detail all the way through even though they are a bit long for the casual viewer. Thanks!
Hi! I'm working on the hutch now. Some of my 2x4s are not the same width..wider than 3 1/2. I realized this after measuring for the 14" depth. I don't have a jointer or a planer. Should I try ripping the boards all to 3 1/2 or should I adjust the shorter frames between the vertical frame boards to get my 14" depth? I'm working on the side framing. *my router came and I'm so excited. Its heavy so I will have to make me a platform or bench to stand on to cut out the openings..I'm only 5'5 so holding it up over my head is an accident waiting to happen.
Hey Jeannie, I would adjust the shorter frames to get the 14". For the router, I would clamp a scrap 2x4 to a work bench and make some practice cuts where you have a good stance and really good control before trying anything harder. Maybe just add a 1/2" round an the side of the 2x4 and get a feel for it.
Hi there, i am in the process of creating my own chicken coop. I can send you photos videos. The only thing I have not completed is the egg hutch. Can you share your plans for the egg hutch?
Silvana, I don't have plans for any of this. I do have three more videos coming up on how I made the egg hutches. Post a video for us to check out and leave a link here. Thanks!
@@HomesteadEngineering Here is the link to my video. I made the California coop model of the Carolina Coop line up but slightly bigger. My coop is 4×10 and the hen house is 4×4 and the coop is about 8 feet tall. I will be attempting the egg hutch tomorrow. Wish me luck! Although if you can answer how you cut the long piece of wood in a diagonal that would be swell. ua-cam.com/video/aTrV4fDDA0o/v-deo.html Update with the egg hutch ua-cam.com/video/xGRBAoO5VME/v-deo.html Windows are done but will hang them in September when it starts to get cool at night
Great job! I enjoyed the detailed walk through of the mockups and decision making.

Thanks!
Look good... Keep it up brother
Thanks, will do!
Thank you
Are the connection pieces between the higher and lower pitch parts also cut at 22.5?
I don't recall but I would guess that all the angles are 22.5. Thanks!

Definitely. I will practice for a day or two. Thanks.

I think chickingham palace is a nice name but also like Taj Ma Chick
Sounds good Jerry. When its done and I'm live streaming them inside the henhouse, I plan to go with "Hot Chicks Live". LOL :)
Looks like it's from Carolina Coops just stole the design 😂
Thanks!
