Angela Chan I slightly disagree. Dont get me wrong! She was great. But for me the dynamic between Nathan and Caleb was what drove the film. Then again, as a sci fi nerd I'm kinda jaded and the movie couldnt say anything new concerning AI that I havent read in books, seen in movies or even played in video games.

tkmkirill The ending was boring. The whole movie turns around the question how an AI would behave and they chose the worst outcome **spoiler** by making her the icecold bitch who simply wants to see the world as an incognito robot.
I'd call the movie worth watching but not stunning in any way. Even tho.. compared to Jupiter Ascending it was actually pretty good :p
novusvoss That's kind of the point. Just because you can program something intelligent and even emotional doesn't mean it's going to have compassion. Especially given her creator.

The point is nobody knows how an AI would react to humans so they had almost complete creative freedom and they chose the worst outcome. It's plausible and boring and the same time, I guess I simply expected more.
tkmkirill Definitely the best sci-fi movie of the year. None of these big blockbusters could even compare.
novusvoss (spoiler) The ending fits with the themes that the movie addresses early on. For example, Ava's creator talks about how one day robots will see humans the same way that humans see dinosaurs. In other words, robots are gonna take over, and so therefore Ava walking out on the blonde guy perfectly fits.

Fond3ll - Chiptunes & Game Music Remixes! She doesn't speak Danish fluently. She's said so in several interviews. She was able to speak Danish in the film "A Royal Affair" because Swedish is sufficiently close to Danish, and she did a 2-month boot camp to pick up the pronunciations and the basics of the language. So does she speak it? Yes. Fluently? No. She was doing her press in English while promoting the film in Denmark.

One reason why her marriage works with Michael, they both are robots. She in Ex Machina and Michael in Promethius. The difference was at the end of their movies Alecia escaped into the real world and blended in perfectly. Michael on the other hand was torn apart, his head being the only surviving part, which Noomi Rapace carried around in a gym bag trying to get back to Earth! Kind of a kinky marriage. Lots of WD-40 and battery chargers! lol

There's so much CGI in this film! It took 6 weeks to film, and 6 months to layer the CGI on top.

Haha she really went for it. As someone with allergies, I sympathize with her and actually find it kind of endearing because I can relate. Runny noses always seem to happen at the most inopportune moments. It does make her seem more human which is ironic since she's playing a robot.

Alicia Vikander is the "It Girl" of 2015. Ex Machina is a star making role. She has several more films coming out this year, much the way that Jessica Chastain exploded onto the scene a few years back and like Jessica, she has a ton of talent.
