Epson XP-245 Change Ink Cartridge

- How to change an ink cartridge in an Epson XP-245 printer.
1] Ensure the printer is switched on, and lift the printer lid.
2] If the ink light is on, press the red "cancel" button.
3] If the ink light is off, hold the red "cancel" button for around 6 seconds.
4] The cartridges will move to the middle.
5] The arrow will point to an empty cartridge.
6] Press the "cancel" button again and the carriage will move to indicate another empty cartridge
7] Or it will move to allow you to change the cartridges.
8] Pull the cartridge tab towards you to release it.
9] Slide in the new cartridge in until it clicks in to place.
10] Press the red "cancel" button when you have replaced the necessary cartridges.
11] Close the printer lid.
The instructions are similar for the following printers:
Epson XP-200, XP-205, XP-211, XP-215, XP-220, XP-225, XP-235, XP-243, XP-247, XP-255

For anyone having trouble getting the cartridge box moved by pressing the cancel button, here is my SOLUTION! All you need to do is tell your computer to move it for you. I'm using MAC, go to printer settings, "Options and Supplies" and "Utility" and it will give you an option for changing cartridges, then follow the prompted instructions. Good luck :)

Same here. They always seem so fragile and they NEVER behave like the manual say! Why are my cartridges only coming out half way? Blinking powerlight? Check cartridges.. OK. But they don't come out no matter how many times I do as the manual says. I could strangle the people who makes this machines!

Followed video instructions, and seems to work Okay. I changed all the carts in a XP245 which was given to me on loan from my daughter. Done the test print "Power on & Stop" buttons at same time, Colour looks okay on the small test print, but Black is smudged. Done a Wi-Fi test print, and some lines of text are unreadable. Done what I think are head cleaning tests, after several Wi-Fi test prints I still get lines of smudged black ink on the paper.
Might be the ink.

I was getting frustrated as the cartridges wouldn't slide out to be changed after pressing the button....I rang Epson...you need to press the red triangle button down for 6 seconds....worked perfectly then....not on the printer instructions and not on the video above....just sayin' Thanks for the video though, it was really helpful

How do I get rid of it cause it’s still telling the printer there’s no ink and also when I go on the Epson iPrint app it keeps telling me the printer is busy? Theres a clip on the back of the cartridge you gotta press down
EmmLoves Pink15 not the cartridge. If you only press it for some time, the whole container won’t move to that arrow that indicates which cartridges are out/low on ink. I discovered you have to keep pressing that button until the container moves to the arrow

I think when it goes to the right it doesnt need changing yet
If the red light is continuous..click red button once.
But if its flashing red or thier is no red light at all..hold the red cancel but for 7 seconds(not 6)..then when it goes in the middle..you see the desired arrow pointing to that said cartridge..click cancel button once again.. cartridge holder should head right side..then do your replacing thing..press cancel again one last time..coprende.

How the hack! New printer ink. Same size as when purchased. Why does it keek saying i have to put in number of ink? Gives me 220 (what is same as allows) or 220xl???? It won't let me choose the 220? Can't find answer. Help!!! I'm too old and daughter to witchy to do it. Help me, PLEASE

I held the button down until it moved to the middle then pressed once to get it to move to the side so i could change cartridge. Hope this helps someone

This printer is an awful cheap noisy thing!
They have cheapened the design until it is a flimsy mess that chews up paper and takes ages to understand the 'Print' command from my computer!
Each print command fetches up popups and I HATE POPUPS!
The standard cartridges only last for about 20 letters and printed pages!

XP-225, had to hold it down (red button) for a few seconds, then when it moved to the middle, then a single press to move again to the right, and then I could change the cartridge.

My cancel button is obviously dodgy AF then. It doesn’t do anything for most presses. It’s like playing Russian roulette.
GullWing Storm in one of the comments it says u need to press the red triangle button for at least 6 secs , apparently the guy called Epson to ask why his button didn’t work hahahha your comment made me laugh hahaha hope it works for you now :)

the printer ink carriage would not move along for me when I pressed the stop button. No surprise: typical bloody computer stuff.
I feel your pain, things don't go smoothly when I record these videos. I normally have an hour of footage of things not working, before I cut it all down to a final minute or two video.

horrible printer, but I paid £20 off gumtree with about 20 spare cartridges. If you have the patience buy it, if not avoid! useless when it comes to changing the cartridges, it has a hissy fit, doesnt always work first time. Often have to power off and on again and try again. Cheap n nasty printer, like an old car, alright once shes going, but heaven forbid having to address any warning lights on her
Stupid printer. I hate ot. HP is so easy to operate!! hate hate hate. Now I changed the cartridge after breaking my head and now there are 4 lights flashing !!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
