- Rob Halford singing in court a part of judas priest song called better by you better than me. They were in trial because some people belived that this song countains subliminal messages.
Too bad he didn't sing "Breaking The Law" in court.
He could have sung the Simpsons version...

That would be better :)))))

Even the Supreme Court knows Halford is the best singa eva,!
More like "Shit, when should I ask him to sign my vinyls..."
😂😂😂
😂😂😂 “Need to buy this record!”
I’m fucking dying over here!!! 😆😂😆
Great singer. Should be in a band.
Those parents thought JP was breaking the law but they had another thing coming.
I see what you did there
I think the parents were a bit left behind during the heavy metal Revolution, so due to the shifting climate they United against the supposed Sinners to end the movement before it got started. Fortunately for us this attempted Genocide against the new order of music did nothing to stop Judas Rising. We’re incredibly lucky they dealt with as little as they did. Much like Elvis Presley before them, they were the Victim of Changes. I’m just glad the fans were loyal enough to not leave these legends Out in the Cold.
Yes that was a stretch. I regret nothing
I can't even start
Those parents were basically screaming for vengeance.

"Lawyer for Judas Priest" would be an interesting addition to anyone's resume.
My uncle-in-law's a lawyer and every time I've seen him over the past 25 years he's told me the story of when he had dinner with Paul Stanley. I'm not sure if it's on his resume though.
@@uncletony6210 Well, it should be. Or at the very least on his LinkedIn.
Imagine being Ozzy osbourne's lawyer, or his cheff

LOL!
He even knows it is such a stupid reason for somebody to go to court.
Mr. WildChild 01. What has he done? And could singing help?
😂
First thought of mine as well.
@@rainerwahnsinn8411 This was during the time when Priest were put on trial for the suicide and attempted suicide of two teens. Their parents claimed it was due to the subliminal messages on the record. They found a place where if played backwards it kind of sounded like "do it".
At one point Priest countered by showing how random sounds can appear when you play a record backwards by finding a place where it sounds like it says "I asked for a peppermint, I asked for her to get one." :D
Song: "Better By You Better Than Me"
Album: "Live in Court"
I am so damn tempted to make that into a proper thing XD. Just make a funny album cover and hey presto, its a thing !

@robert proctor Ooh we got a tough guy here. Tell me did you manage to pray the gay away or so you still feel those urges?
@tickle me Lorne LMFAO!!!!!
@Pedro Parica On the contrary, Jesus Christ looks like me.
Are you still dead 😂? I’ll check again soon...
@@Auriflamme You know Rob Halford is gay right?
To clarify, the prosecution's (extremely odd) case was that the '-uh' sound at the end of each of Halford's lines was what contained the subliminal message. Their lawyers used electronic equipment to distort this intonation to something approximating the words 'Do it', which was apparently enough to make those two lads want to commit suicide. Halford was undoubtedly the star of the court case when he pointed out that it would be counter-productive for the band to encourage their fans to kill themselves and that if JP were even capable of including subliminal messages in their songs, the message would be 'Buy more of our records'.
I just liked this and it jumped from 0 to 10 likes.

This lawsuit was the biggest bunch of bs ever heard of; the judge even apologized to Rob at the end of the trial for wasting his time. Good on Rob for being a real gentleman, even given the situation.
Rob's an absolute pro.
Furthermore give props to the judge for apologizing. He's a good man.
With what I have learned about the court system that da probably got his shit kicked in by the judge in chambers. A DA will take a stinker of a case to trial with almost no merit just because they can get a big name convicted because jury trials are just random like that.
I dunno, the one against Ozzy for Suicide Solution was pretty bullshit
Tbh the mothers were desperate, so is understandable that they would do every possible thing to find an answer on why their kids wanted to commit suicide. But yeah, the fact that it got to court is ridiculous

I wish he only could have screamed "That dude is the painkiller, he's the painkiller!" And then get the f1cķ out of that ştupid court.
'Even in court. Rob Halford's performance was simply "outstanding" !'
yes, and I think he was restraining his voice here
Ha ha...yes it was...that whole joke was a waste of tax payers money...just like the Ozzy witchhunt...Pay more attention to your kids and watch the signs, if rock and metal music is cause of suicides, then I guess we better realize how ignorant and hypocritical we are as a people...as humans...
Dont blame the music...blame the upbringing and interaction between parents and their kids...The music is just a scapegoat...
I thought the same, it's perfect without autotune or any audio processing
The judge was thinking "now, sing rockarolla"
Why would he want them to sing one of their mediocre songs? 🤷🏻♂️

Gustavo Castaño bruh your original comment was 7 years ago and you’re still replying. Respect. Judge should ask him to sing Epitaph cause it’s never been sung live :(
Even in a courtroom he still sounds great.
Rob could sing the phone book and get a Grammy for it.
Ace singer, God bless him.
The judge is like holy shit I finally am in the front row of a Priest show. Then he had Rob sing the entire British Steele album next...
Witnessed history.
Breaking The Law was the highlight of the trial
Copy much?
If declared guilty he would've scream Painkiller to the mic and slipped away in the confusion
(i copied my comment from before)
Does stealing peoples comments make you feel successful or does it make you feel like people like you?
The judge was like "what a waste of fucking taxpayer money"
I was thinking the same. He looks so annoyed.
Or at least like he's about to fall asleep.
"I spent a whole day in the courtroom for this?"
The judge is like fuck yeah Priest putting on a free show and I have the best seat here. Then he had Rob sing the entire British Steele album next.
haha breaking the law
Front to back and then back again. Gotta catch all those subliminals

If he sang dreamer deceiver they would of let him get away with anything
He’s so proper gentle & soft spoken.
I remember this when I was little.
Go Rob!
The judge is lucky to see Mr. Halford in person.
Damn right.
Don't thousands of people do that? I'm jus asking, I thought they were a live band.
lol is your breath technique a subliminal message for people to kill themselves?
WTF?!?!?!?!?!?
Even the judge was like "Ok this is just stupid"
That's HIS lawyer!
The 80's in a nutshell.
As Lachlan already said, it's *his* attorney. Had she not asked that question, it would have given the prosecution an opportunity to create some high courtroom drama - which is important, because the jurors are likely only barely paying attention. She beat the prosecution to the punch - he didn't intend to kill anybody with any nuance of his performance - so now any question the prosecutors ask is going to sound ridiculous.
The judge is like 'why am I wasting my time here?'

@FatalPies Well... Midnight was super human...
I'm going to look that word up even though I think ? I know , thx
The judge is trying to keep a straight face but he's fangirling on the inside.
Halford just sang a few lyrics on a court microphone and sounded better then any singing in today's music.

The judge should have at least complemented him for his great voice.
Well, you know that chick was moisting up after that one line - you can see it in the way she stuttered asking the next questions.
The judge did apologize for the whole fiasco and wasting Rob's time, though
The judge was a good man apologizing to Rob Halford. Kudos your honor.

Standing ovation. He deserved it.
Or started headbanging!
If I was there, I'd have done that lol
Only in the US.
it's a British band
Conquistador Colbear Really? I though Halford talked like that to sound clever. You know, like Madonna does now-a-days.
Let me carve it out for you in cardboard and bend it in neon. ONLY IN THE US WOULD SOMETHING LIKE THIS BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PLACE. In Europe and the UK, we don't blame bands for the suicides of two abused and drugged up kids.
exactly. in cases like this, at least one part of it has to be in America, such as the American group (I forget who) that sued slipknot because a kid in Africa made slipknot masks and killed his school
Yep.
Europe is way more prone to taking people to court over nonsense.
I remember him saying at the time..." If we were going to put subliminal messages in a song, it would say 'Buy more of our albums'". LOL
He sang those few simple notes absolutely amazingly well.
Haha holy shit even in court his singing is amazing
The acoustics in the court room are amazing.
what a lovely voice
Oh, yeah, awesome voice. And I trust you've heard more by now. I saw this band a couple times when I was a kid, late 70s
A metal singer who can easily break out the vibrato, and his range and power is astounding!
Well said! That vibrato is amazing...
This guy has a great voice. True potential! I think he can make it in the music industry!
Breaking The Law!!!
Breaking The Law!!!
I'm glad those gold-digging parents didn't get anything. This was a total waste of tax payer money. The parents were looking for someone to blame and punish for their own poor parenting. Their kid already had psychological problems and it didn't help that the parents were neglectful and abusive with their son. Listening to Judas Priest does not make one go and kill themselves. At that time, metal wasn’t accepted by parents. Parents back then claimed it was satanic music and were looking for any opportunity to ban metal music.
If anything their music is uplifting and empowering. Gives an optimistic outlook.
Some things never change. Jerry Lee Lewis was thought Satanic for 'great balls of fire'. In the middle ages monks were accused of devil's music if they sang the wrong interval. Human nature; fearful, pathetic and scapegoat searching.
@Nickhead87 Well done for calling the 'virus' out. It is almost forbidden to speak up in public, and woe betide if you do not SOCIAL DISTANCE or WEAR YOUR MASK or FOLLOW THE ARROWS!
Blaming metal on big problems is like blaming your foot for stepping on a landmine you didn't know was there
I went to middle school with James Vance in Livermore he was 15 and in the 8th grade I hung out with him a few times with my friends, thought he was cute but strange, he was always f’d up in class if he showed up, It didn’t surprise me when I heard the news. Sad life he had.
It gets to show how good Rob Halford's voice really is. Free publicity. Raw talent.
Even his court performance gives me goosebumps
@ :32 the judge is lookin at the attorney like "shut the fuck up an ask the metal king to sing the ripper i wanna light this joint!!"
Hahahaha! That statement is less ridiculous than the fact that this went to trial.
That judge has had enough of this bullshit LOL!
JUDGE: "Hey can you do 'The Ripper' next?"
On the original footage he explains the expressive grunts at the end of each line. When asked if this was common, he replied "Elvis Pressley made a career out of it". Classic comeback!
The judge is like "I just want to get home and listen to some Judas Priest yeah !!" \m/
So silly to have had this brought to court! People are plain dense!
-h-
Lol!
Its amazing how Rob's speaking voice is quite monotone and soft yet his singing voice is just out of this world
Balls out. I love how he didn't hold back, even in this most absurd scenario. He could have made his voice sound meek and mild, but instead he stayed true to himself.

Whenever I have bad day and life seems it has reached a dead end, automatically i get headphones and play "Beyond the Realms of Death" describing how i exactly feel every single time I listen to it, yes big part of feeling better about myself is that someone or a song understand what I feel because every root cause of every single problem is "not to be heard" Just thank you for your music.
And the judge is thinking, "Man, where can I get Judas Priest tickets" ?
NIKE says DO IT everyday, all the time, on ads and T-shirts everywhere. Sue them too why don't ya!. And yes, it is on the recorded song but it might mean that it is a good idea to go for a jog.
it's actually "Just Do It" but those kids were high as a kite so they probably heard just about anything.
U got a point Marv
Metal being a scapegoat once again. I wonder what would happen if they found a serial killer who was into "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies and killed chicks by drowning them in molten sugar and impaled them on a stick, inspired by "you are my candy girl and you got me wanting you". Come on!
Don't give me ideas
Well, my mother thought Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James and the Shondells was about blue meth until I explained to her that there is no such thing as blue meth, they just made it up for the show. Which leads me to wonder now if she thinks every song with the word "blue" in the title is about blue meth. Interestingly, my mother used to like to tell me that the real estate agent who sold my parents the house I was living in that Tommy James had grown up in the house. She was not impressed.

“There I was completely wasted, and out of work and down!”
this case is stupid, Judas Priest didn't even write the song to begin with (they made it better though) it was gary wright (Spooky Tooth)
It's not about the original song or the lyrics. It's about whether or not Priest added subliminal lyrics you can only hear when playing the song backwards. Of course, that's about as idiotic as it gets.
Gente pendeja
Very true. I always wondered about that.
BTW, Spooky Tooth is a great band. Only a few albums in the early 70's. I highly recommend them. Great lyrics & dark sound with a Deep Purple type vibe. Spooky Tooth have another song called "Fantasy Satisfier" that Priest uses as the intro and main riff to "Invaders". Unlike "BBYBTM" they didn't give Spooky any credit. They just hoped people never heard it.
Why are they so obsessed with reversed messages? Why can't they realize that some of those were unintentional?
It's nice that schizophrenics are allowed to comment here too.
the judge was remembering that he left his" TYPE O NEG " CD on the front passenger seat of his car....!!! OH SHIT>>!!

@Hani Farjo As far as I'm aware, when cases are dismissed it's because they have no legal grounds, not because the judge personally finds it ridiculous. A case can still be valid enough for a trial whilst also being really stupid.
