Well, now. That just taught me something. I use an American froe for some splitting. It has a straight, squared cut end. I wondered why the German, Austrian, etc. froes had their ends rounded down to the sharp edge. Then, I saw in this video how the schindelmacher didn't just use the froe side-to-side to widen the split -- he put it inside the log sideways and used the handle to get the split wide enough for the log to come apart. The "rounded" front of the froe would greatly assist in that splitting. Next time I forge a froe, I'm going to put that kind of rounded end on it.

Zum Ansehen am besten die Wiedergabegeschwindigkeit auf 0.75 einstellen- dann wirkt es realistischer.
Ich finde, mit der echten Geschwindikkeit wirkt´s noch viel realistischer.
