Indeed, the only anticipation now lies in the construction of a new Saraighat Bridge, which might take another decade to materialize. Thanks for watching !!
@@INFINITYRAILS The first double line MG bridge was completed expeditiously (1959-63), therefore the second bridge should also be completed fast as improved technologies are available in India now.
@@pckishore6893 Everything depends upon priority, if the project gets much priority along with favorable river conditions then it might take a similar or lesser time duration taken for the construction of the old Saraighat bridge.
Thanks a lot ! As of now there is no update from the official's side. Though while looking into the recent progresses the track and signal upgradation works are going on across the NJP - GHY mainline and presently the Automatic signalling upgradation work is going over the New Coochbehar to New Alipurduar section. Thanks for watching !!
Even if the tracks are ready for 130 km/h operations, safety considerations often prevent trains from running at such speeds. From a technical perspective, enhancing the signaling system is crucial to ensure safe operations at higher speeds. Primarily, the implementation of Automatic Signaling systems is necessary, or an additional distant signal needs to be placed ahead of the existing one at stations. Currently, work on introducing Automatic Signaling is underway between New Coochbehar and New Alipurduar, with plans to extend this system further towards Guwahati in the future.
Double line has completed till Agthori, the only remaining patch is between Agthori and Kamakhya Jn (7 Km) due to Saraighat Bridge. Thanks for watching !!
CRS has permitted 110 kmph from NBQ to Bijni only. The worst speed is 65 kmph from Nalbari to Baihata. The contractor should be penalised for poor workmanship. Is there any possibility of raising the speed upto 110kmph from BIJNI to AGT ? The financial sanction of around INR 1600 Cr was made in Feb 2024 for the Brahmaputra bridge & doubling between AGT & KYQ. But no tender has been invited for this important work till now. As there is no pressure from the state govt., I think the project has been shelved & the fund has been diverted to other zones. Can you throw some light regarding this matter?
The sectional speeds of the Bijni-Nalbari and Baihata-Agthori sections were upgraded last year from 90 km/h to 110 km/h. To ensure the stability of the tracks and soil, the speed upgrades are implemented gradually, starting at 30 km/h and increasing in phases to 45 km/h, then 90 km/h, and finally reaching 110 km/h. Similarly, the newly commissioned Nalbari-Baihata section currently has a maximum permissible speed of 90 km/h. Plans are in place to upgrade this to 110 km/h in the near future. Meanwhile, the tender for the construction of the new Saraighat Bridge, launched in 2023 under tender number CE/CON/SARGT/DDC/2023/05, concluded in November 2023. However, even as 2025 begins, there has been no visible progress in the construction of the bridge, and the timeline for its commencement remains uncertain.

One of the greatest breakthroughs achieved in this financial year ! Hatts off to everyone who worked for the completion of this doubling

Yet the trains, mainly passenger trains between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati can't run on time
