  • Authentic AGBELI KAKLO recipe ✔️ YUCA/MANIOC CROQUETTES -Ndudu by Fafa
Agbeli Kaklo or Bankye Krakro as known in the Ewe and Ashanti language respectively is made from grated Cassava and Onion.
The juice of the grated Cassava is extracted (reserve for making starch) and then mixed with the blended Onion and deep fried. In Ghana this is enjoyed with Coconut pieces and as a snack.

Oh really? Nigerians do absolutely enjoy it. In Ibo speaking part of Nigeria where I came from it is called "akara jiakwu" translated as "akara cassava."@@NdudubyFafa

Oh, I think this is what I've been looking for! There are a lot of cassava recipes for various cakes and puddings, and in the end the cassava is a minor ingredient, it's all milk and eggs and sugar. I wanted something more like a potato pancake. Cassava is growing in my yard, so it's an issue! There's a Columbian breakfast thing that's like this, very hard and dense crust, and chewy on the inside. Pan de Yuca? It's good! I think this is the original. This is simple and I don't think I would get tired of it.

In Cameroon it's called banana akara. Mashed ripe banana(not too much) is added to the casava, then formed into balls and fried. It's just sweeter and more filling and eaten with pepper sauce. You'll love it 😜😋

    #KeepingItReal
TFS it looks appetizing and the recipe is fantastic however I've never heard it being called "BANKYE KAKRO" before by any tribe. I may sound petty but I feel as if the Twi translation was unnecessary and took away from the recipe's origins. I know you use your platform to promote the Ewe language which I admire a lot but I also think there's always a dose of "Twi-overreach" which overshadows our other tribal languages. This snack originated from the #VoltaRegion and was frowned upon/jeered at by the Twis and Gas, just like the "AyigbeBiskit", so can we just call it by the name every tribe has come to accept due to the origin of the recipe, please.
#AGBELI KAKLO- 'Ewe' dialect... (Cassava Croquettes) Thank you.
