Simple. Great!! One thing to do: when "puncturing" the aluminum seal on the oil bottle...don't push it in. Cut it and remove it whole. Many can attest to that piece falling into the engine to partially clog the pump oil pick up. Also...look under torque specifications for both: Oil pan plug and filter. Don't want any of those to come loose. Again thanks for the vid.

Great video. I'll be getting ready to do an oil change on my 2024 Blazer in a few weeks. One word of caution you may want to consider. These engines have problems with timing chains and key to keep them from failing is lubrication. I'd be changing my oil sooner than the 7% left on the oil monitor, especially seeing how dark your oil was. I'm shooting for every 3,500 miles. That may be overkill, but new timing chains is an expensive job.

    Great
video and one of the things I thought you would miss. you did near the end by resetting the " trip B " so you can keep track of how many miles / kms you have on this oil change. You also already realize that driving or running the engine for too long gets the oil really hot but other than changing the oil on a Fall or Winter day with temps near freezing, just warming it up while you put the wheel ramps in place and get your oil change tools ready is enough warm up time to get the oil to flow easier. I'm not even 100% positive if it's necessary but the opening of the oil filler cap is something I always do but I kind of lay the cap sideways on the hole so there's less chance that something would fall in ( ya overkill _). I would also put a bit of oil into the filter as in this case it is located straight up and down. You don't need to fill it up completely but having some oil in the filter is a good idea, just make sure to not tip it when putting it back on. To change it BEFORE the oil change warning comes on and a little more than half the distance the manufacturer suggests is the best, cheapest insurance against early engine wear. Waiting for the oil change meter on the gauge cluster to say 10% will mean you are closer to the "max" oil life so I do mine before it goes under 30/% at the latest. The vehicle manufacturer's oil change recommendation is for "normal driving" but almost no one drives "normally ".Frequent short trips driving less than 10 minutes in the summer or 1/2 hour in the winter is "severe' driving. Idling / warming up your engine for longer than 30 seconds is severe driving. Pulling a trailer or pushing the gas pedal further than halfway is severe driving but is what 90% of people do. Also change the oil before 12 months even if the vehicle has only ben driven 3000 miles or says 50%-75% oil life remaining. So in that case, changing your oil at 5000 or 6000 miles in a vehicle that has an oil change recommendation of 10,000 is what you SHOULD be doing anyways. I'm glad you mention the earlier oil change intervals. Oh and one thing I learned the hard way is if you change your oil outside in the driveway and there's even a light breeze, once the oil is coming out for a bit the stream of oil becomes very light and will be blown all over the driveway under the car so the oil change matt a cardboard box or keeping the oil change pan close to the drain is a good idea. Oh and keep the receipt for the oil and filter and the mileage written on it and the receipts in the glove box or in a ziplock bag in the spare tire well especially of the vehicle is still under warranty/ If you're using the recommended type and grade of oil ( Dexos in this case ) doing your own oil change WON"T void your warranty and is better than having a "lube shop" do it or even the brand new mechanic at the dealership.

Thanks for this video brother! When I bought my new RS back in January I started looking into things to do on mine and became a fan of your journey with yours. I'll also use my first service through the dealership for oil but have you been rotating your own tires? How do those sensors in the tires work that track air pressure? Might be an idea for a future video. Thanks for all you've done to help us ordinary folk with awesome upgrade videos!

If you own the car you 100% want to fill the filter with oil before you put it back on all the dry starts over the lifetime of the engine is not good, also forgot to mention the #1 rule in changing oil filters always check to make sure the old gasket from the filter was removed and not stuck on the engine block otherwise you'll have a double gasket very serious situation. Lastly sorry the oil pan is NOT aluminum... it's stamped real metal painted black try a magnet on it 😅

I like your attention to detail and the fact that you change your oil more often than the 7,500 mile recommendation. But if it was me since you went to Walmart anyway, I would just use SuperTech full synthetic oil. It meets all the same specs and tests show very little difference between how it performs and how Mobil1 performs. Then again I might decide to use 0W-30 instead of 5W-30 which your owner's manual mentions and I'm not sure SuperTech is available in 0W-30.

      (1) doesn’t matter what kind of oil you use to lubricate the gasket of the new filter.

Use what you prefer but the Super Tech synthetic at Walmart is usually half the price and meets all the manufacturer's requirements. It is also actually made in the USA by a company that makes oil for a few other companies and it costs around half as much. When you use "big name" oil you are paying for the NASCAR sponsorship and advertising so you really only need to use it in your drag race car or race car or Vette, |Ferrari. Lambo or BMW etc.
